IoT innovation in COVID-19 crisis
The COVID-19 pandemic is a current global threat that surpasses provincial and radical boundaries. Due to the onset of the pandemic disease, the whole world turned entirely in a couple of weeks. Its consequences have come across the personal and professional life of human beings. The current situation focuses on precautions such as wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and sanitizing hands regularly. An innovative platform, and smart and effective IoT technology may be applied to follow these steps. This platform fulfills all critical challenges at the time of lockdown situations. IoT technology is more helpful in capturing real-time patient data and other essential information. IoT allows the tracing of infected people and suspicious cases and helps diagnose and treat patients remotely. It also paves the way to deliver essential medical devices and medicines to quarantined places. In the present ongoing crisis, IoT technology is inevitable in monitoring patients infected with COVID-19 through sensors and intertwined networks. The consultations are given to the patients digitally through video conferencing without meeting the medical expert in person. After the diagnosis is made digitally, IoT devices are used to track health data. Smart thermometers are used instead of traditional ones to collect valuable health data and share it with experts. The IoT robots are now a proven technology used for cleaning hospitals, disinfecting medical devices, and delivering medicines, thus giving more time to healthcare workers to treat patients. 2023 Bentham Science Publishers. Impact of 3D printed components and ventilators on COVID-19
The disease caused by a virus known as the novel Coronavirus, also known as "COVID-19" by the public, was classified as a major epidemic by the World Health Organisation in 2019. Each country across the globe is affected by COVID-19. While writing this, over 150 million people were affected by the fast-spreading deadly pandemic, and over 3.5 million deaths due to COVID-19 were reported worldwide as per WHO's official COVID-19 dash panel-https://covid19.who.int/Economy and social life of no territory on earth was left unaffected by the COVID-19. Now vaccines are ready, it may take a reasonable amount of time to complete the vaccination process. One major challenge was the need for more support equipment like Beds, Oxygen Cylinders, and Ventilators. Improvisation in the mass production of many critical components, especially those supporting 3D printing technology, has shown some well-managed results in handling the shortage of many critical components. This chapter examines and describes how 3D printing technologies were used during the dangerous pandemic. It aims to describe many 3D-printed devices like face masks, face shields, various valves, etc. It also makes an effort to point out the dominant drawbacks of additive manufacturing technology in this area and examines the options for a future pandemic. 2023 Bentham Science Publishers. Securing end user computing environments using blockchain
COVID-19's phenomenal effect has expedited the adoption of digital technologies over several years, indicating that several of these breakthroughs are here to stay. Several enabling technologies are currently being implemented as major solutions for improving and responding to the pandemic's numerous issues, with blockchain being one of the preferred solution options. Blockchain can be used to re-structure processes, resulting in most effective operational and business models (e.g., democratising quality cancer detection with advanced artificial intelligence based radiomics technologies). The authors posit here that while there is a lot of anticipation about using blockchain to improve business capabilities, the lessons learned from the many pilots and proofs of concept so far should be considered. The necessity for a structured, formal decision-making process, based on good business logic and an awareness of the problem's process lifecycle, is however critical. Blockchain is a means to an end, not an end in and of itself. 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved. -
Modeling requirements with diabetes using supervised machine learning techniques
Diabetes is characterized by either insufficient or inefficient insulin production by the body. High blood glucose levels result from this, which over time can harm a number of tissues and organs in the body. Bibliometric analysis of the impact of blockchain technology on the tourism industry
The tourism sector is one of the world's fastest-expanding industries. Because of the benefits, it provides to individuals and organizations, the tourism sector has attracted a lot of attention throughout the years. But because of its poor and obsolete data management techniques, this industry is in desperate need of reform. Blockchain technology is one method for managing and exploring data relevant to the tourism industry. This study used bibliometric methods to analyze the impact of blockchain technology on the tourism sector from 2017 to 2022. The publications were extracted from the dimensions database, and the VOS viewer software was used to visualize research patterns. The findings provided valuable information on the publication year, authors, author's country, author's organizational affiliations, publishing journals, etc. Based on the findings of this analysis, researchers may be able to design their studies better and add more insights into their empirical studies. 2024 Srinesh Thakur, Anvita Electronics, 16-11-762, Vijetha Golden Empire, Hyderabad. -
Agriculture as a means of alleviating rural poverty: Pursuant to the sustainable development goal-1
Poverty is one of the worst problems prevailing in the world. The poorest in the world are often without food, have little or no access to education, basic amenities of life, and lack health facilities. Eradication of Global Poverty eradication is a herculean and complex task. The origination of 2030 Agenda to eradicate poverty was done after the successful completion of the anti-poverty Millennium Development Goal, but still, a vast number of people were living in poverty and a great number among them were living in extreme poverty. So, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development called for the eradication of poverty in all poverty in forms from every corner of the world by almost half. In backward and developing nations, poverty is more rampant in rural areas. The economies of most of these nations are predominantly based on Agriculture and therefore progress in agriculture is viewed as a potent tool to eradicate rural poverty. However, there are serious issues that are required to be addressed in this regard. This chapter explores some vital issues related to agriculture which require the attention of the policymakers, to achieve the objective of reducing rural poverty through advancement in agriculture. 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. Climate change and water insecurity: Who bears the brunt? (A case of Yelenahalli Village, Bengaluru)
Rapid urbanisation and neglect towards traditional water bodies have aggravated water security issues in isolated pockets. In the recent past, they have also manifested into natural disasters in major urban centres such as Bengaluru (Bangalore), Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. An examination of the problem is essential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal on water security laid down by the United Nations in the context of climate change. This paper explores the various socio-economic costs of water scarcity through a case study of Yelenahalli village in Bengaluru. The study's preliminary results find that the encroachment of water bodies has led to a significant cost to households and local governments. Water scarcity is found to have a differential impact on poor and non-poor households in terms of access and the resultant water consumption due to the prevalence of price discrimination in the private water markets. The disparity in access to water is exacerbated despite the government's commencement of piped water supply due to worsening climate conditions and falling groundwater levels. The Author(s), 2023. Optimizing operational cost and delivery of online food delivery apps using high-tech vending machines
Consider the present scenario of placing online food orders while traveling, waiting for them, and struggling to collect them on time. This issue can be addressed by creating and deploying a fully functional high-tech vending machine. With the evolution of technology and the necessity for constant improvement in service quality, customers are thriving for a better customer experience. This article aims to design and methodologically assess the importance of installing vending machines around the most crowded public transportation hubs by dispensing purchased food or beverages online. It focuses on providing a convenient delivery mode for online-ordered food at travel boarding points and public gatherings. Vending machines at these locations gather and distribute food to consumers based on orders from online food delivery apps such as Swiggy, and Zomato, thus optimizing and improving the delivery experience. It focuses on optimizing the operational cost associated with online food delivery platforms and reducing the carbon emissions contributed by multiple deliveries that happen towards the common drop-off points. 2024 Srinesh Thakur, Anvita Electronics, 16-11-762, Vijetha Golden Empire, Hyderabad. -
