The repercussions of teaching in the digital era: A boon or bane?
Recently, the world has experienced a big change due to the pandemic controlling our lives. The change is also experienced by the education sector. The pandemic has forced the whole system to go digital overnight. Although the learning system has been slowly moving towards digitalisation for a considerable period of time now, the social media platform is taking over the traditional method of learning. The study has 61 respondents and the data is collected through a questionnaire. The paper applies regression analysis with the help of SPSS. The development of digital learning platforms provides an alternative to offline learning. This recent spread of the e-learning environment was fast forwarded in the COVID period. The independent variables of the paper are professional skills and ethical proficiency in online learning. These challenges are evaluated, and their impact is assessed on the learning outcome. The chapter limits its approach to professional and ethical scales by ignoring the other important variables that decide the learning outcome of the students. However, the current body of literature has a very narrow approach to the learning system. So, the chapter inspires us to cover the gap through the proposed framework model for teaching practices in the digital era. The chapter intends to develop the teaching skills and moral conscience of the academicians and ease the learners into the new path of education. The future scope makes it definite for the growing learners to understand the advancement in technology and its repercussion on the skill development process. 2024 River Publishers. Analytical modeling of reconfigurable transistors
A functionally enhanced transistor is a potential candidate for further advancing electronics and Moore's law beyond the classical scaling. This chapter discusses these kinds of multifunctional transistors called reconfigurable field-effect transistor (RFET) and reconfigurable tunnel field-effect transistor (RTFET). The RFET works on the principle of Schottky barrier tunneling, and the RTFET works on the principle of band-to-band tunneling. Both devices can be configured as an n-type and p-type device based on the biasing. This chapter explains the working and performance comparison of RFET and RTFET in detail with the help of technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulations. Further, the potential and current models of a single-gated RFET and double-gated RTFET are presented in this chapter. The presented analytical models are compared and verified with TCAD simulations. The potential in the channel regions of RFET and RTFET is modeled by solving a two-dimensional (2D) Poisson's equation. Because the working principle of both devices is different, two different formulas are utilized for modeling the current in the device. The current model for the RFET is developed by integrating Landauer's formula, whereas the current model for RTFET is obtained by integrating band-to-band generation rate over the tunneling volume. The procedure, technique, and assumptions followed to obtain the potential and current models of RFET and RTFET are detailed in this chapter. 2022 selection and editorial matter, Ashish Raman, Deep Shekhar and Naveen Kumar; individual chapters, the contributors. -

CovalentOrganic Frameworks (COF): An Advanced Generation of Reticular Organic Polymers for Energy and Environmental Applications
Over the past decade, nanoporous materials have caught strong attention among the scientific community due to their tremendous potential in real-world applications. This chapter introduces one such group of nanoporous materials called Covalent Organic Frameworks or simply COFs. Here, we briefly covered the overview of synthesis of COFs and their post-synthetic modifications employing different linkages boron, imine, triazine linkages, etc. High porosity with adjustable periodic pores, well-defined structures, and tunable skeletons are some of the key properties of COFs. In account of such advantages COFs have been scientifically researched in applications like adsorption, separation, energy storage devices, sensing, and especially in degrading various pollutants like heavy metals As, Cd, Cr, Cu; radionuclides UO 2 2+, TcO 4 ?, Nd 3 +, I 2; organic waste dyes, pharmaceutical waste, organo-phosphorous retardants, etc. This chapter specifically describes the current advancement of COFs in segregating hazardous chemicals by sorption methods. One such example is heavy metal sorption in trace amounts from water which otherwise can pose a great threat to human health if not removed completely. Some of these ions include UO 2 2+. By utilizing weak chemical interactions for dye confinement within COF pores, industrial sewage water can be made dye free. ?-conjugated backbones found in aromatic COFs could function as a signal transducer, or active functional groups evenly spaced could act as a receptor, and the uniform pores can serve as mass transfer inducer/enhancers. As a result, COFs can facilitate facile and smooth ion transport by the virtue of redox activities within COF pores. This makes COF a robust and efficient material for energy applications particularly in designing batteries and supercapacitors. Thus, COFs could act as a potential electrodes both anode and cathode for energy storage devices. The current chapter also highlights the development in the field of environmental applications using COF materials. In a nutshell, this chapter gives the reader an idea about many fold advantages of COFs in the energy and environmental sector to combat rising environmental concerns and energy demands. 2025 WILEY-VCH GmbH, Boschstra 12, 69469 Weinheim, Germany. Intellectual property rights vis-a-vis food security: A critical analysis
The Right to Food is undoubtedly a human right since it is one of the basic necessities without which it is impossible to sustain life. Food Security refers to the availability as well as accessibility to sufficient and quality food by all individuals. However, there persists a problem of food insecurity which is a major problem especially in the underdeveloped and, to a considerable extent, the developing countries. At an individual level, food security is limited to one's access to food but on a broader sense food security cannot be isolated from agricultural policies, crop technologies, economic and trade conditions. The intersection of crop technologies with economic factors is what links food security with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Over the recent past, IPR has gained immense importance in a number of fields including agriculture. It provides the incentive for the private sector development in advancement of plant science and crop technologies which helps in ensuring food security in the long term. This study aims at discussing the issues of food security with a specific focus on the developing nations, IPR regime, and its introduction into the agriculture sector. It intends to explore the connections and linkages between IPR and food security, especially how intellectual property can act as a medium to cover the path toward achieving global food security. The author aims to put forth the ability of IPR as a means to achieve food security by incentivising human creativity through a detailed study from an international as well as region-specific perspective. 2023 Apple Academic Press, Inc.
