A Model for the Secured Data Transfer of Healthcare Data by Image Steganography and Cryptography Techniques
Health care domain and related issues have evoked a lot of attention from researchers in the recent past. Ensuring the Security and Privacy of data of patients having classified disease is of utmost importance to the health care sector. From time immemorial cryptography and steganography techniques were used to provide data security. In health care domain, classified disease is the area of investigation as the patients having classified disease always prefer more security and privacy. The objective of this research work is to extract the benefits of cryptography and steganography techniques and to apply the combination of these security mechanisms to develop an algorithm that gives more security and privacy than existing techniques. The proposed algorithm builds on Rivest, Shamir and Adleman (RSA)algorithm which is considered to be one of the classical algorithms in cryptography. RSA is widely used in the encryption-decryption process for data transfer in internet which ensures the security of data in transit. The data encrypted using RSA is provided with one more layer of protection by calculating the message digest of the same. The message digest of encrypted data is calculated using message digest (MD5) algorithm. The steganographic approach of spread spectrum gives better security as it is always robust against statistical attacks and provides added security to the cryptographic protected data. Finally the Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) method is used for transformation. Combination of cryptographic technique and steganographic techniques offers higher level security to the data dealt in health care domain. Image type is a major factor contributing to the performance of the proposed algorithm. In recent years the open sources such as internet shows rapid usage of images especially Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) image format as it occupies comparatively less space and provides better image quality even after applying image transformation. So medical image format type selected for the discussed research work is of JPEG format. Medical images of patients like X-ray of lung, bilateral section of face etc. are taken as cover image for the developed algorithm. Patients personal data is very confidential which is in the textual format is encrypted using RSA algorithm, then message digest is incorporated to keep the encrypted data homogeneous and then it is embedded in the cover image using DWT technique. The performance of the algorithm developed is measured on the basis of peak signal to noise which is a statistical method. The peak signal to noise ratio measurement is used as a visual quality measurement to simulate human perception as the difference between original image and embedded image seems to be identical as per developed algorithm. PSNR ratio is measured for various medical images selected. Noise ratio is also measured for Lena image as it is considered as a standard cover image in the steganography. Noise ratio of the selected medical images are measured and compared against cropped medical images. The results of the above research exercise presented in the thesis, infers that the proposed algorithm Raster Data protection algorithm provides enhanced security to the embedded medical images dealt within the health care sector, with minimal side effect on the quality of the image. KEYWORDS: Cryptography, Steganography, Health care, Security, JPEG, PSNR. -
A Phenomenological Investigation of Mens Experiences of Depression and Gender Role Socialization in Early Family Relationships in urban South India
With the overwhelming suicide rate among men over women, and family problems and illness being the major causes of suicide in India, it is vitally important that we have a better understanding of how men struggle with depression in the context of family. Based on increasing studies on depression and family in the last two decades, a number of researchers have suggested that male depression is associated with early family life experiences. As few studies on the experiences of depression and gender role socialization in early family relationships are reported in India, the present study adds credence to the concept of male depression that may relate to early family life experiences. The aim of this study is to understand the subjective experiences of depression and gender role socialization in early family relationships among Indian men. A non-clinical sample of 9 men was selected using purposive sampling from a human service organization. Theoretical sampling of biographical accounts of a clinical group (1 male client with history of clinical depression) was used for triangulation of data. Consensual Qualitative Research methodology is adopted. The subjective experiences of participants are examined by open-ended, in-depth interviews. The interviews are taped and transcribed. Identification of domains and core ideas, and cross-analyses are conducted on transcripts. A research team of three and an external auditor are employed for data analysis. The findings have contributed to new understandings of depression in the light of gender role socialization in early family relationships among Indian men. Implications suggest further studies of male depression in the family context, the challenge of family life education in India, and the importance of gender sensitivity in counseling with men. Keywords: men, depression, gender role socialization, early family relationships, consensual qualitative research. -
A RESEARCH ON THEMATIC PATTERNS SEEN IN INDIAN FILM DIRECTOR S.SHANKARS FILMS AND THE ROLE OF THE MAIN FILM CREW BEHIND THE SUCCESS OF HIS FILMS
Cinema has a huge amount of capacity to influence the audience. And it is because of this attribute that films either go on to become huge hits or a big disappointment. Everything depends on how the audience receives each film. Director S. Shankar has a track record of 100% success and this by any means, is a big achievement. Favourably for Shankar, even the critics have stayed away from dismissing his films from being just a commercial entertainer and for most of his work; there has been immense appreciation from their side. To contemplate more on the success story, there is a specific pattern observed in all his films and arguably, they have played a vital role in deciding the success. And these patterns are not just about the theme or the casting for which many other directors are known for. As a matter of fact, he does not follow the theory of developing a success combination with the actors. This is one such example of many other important yet unnoticed patterns followed by the director. The research paper attempts to identify and explain each pattern found in all or at least, in most of his films. The research also tries to identify the role of the film crew behind the success of Shankars films. -

A STUDY OF CUSTOMERS EXPECTATION TOWARDS DEPOSITORY PARTICIPANTS OF BANGALORE CITY
The exponential growth of the capital market witnessed in recent years had resulted in a near complete breakdown of the paper based transaction system. The amount of capital raised has shot up, the number of issues had increased substantially, trading volumes on the stock exchanges had grown several fold and the markets had become institutionalised with the entry of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and private mutual funds. As a result, there had been an increase in paper work causing a gridlock at every stage. This delays the clearance and settlement of trades, registration of securities and increases back office paper work for intermediaries. The outdated systems had increased settlement risks and have rendered the implementation of a Delivery versus Payment (DP) system impossible. The systemic risks face further threat by theft, forgery, bad delivery, issue of fake share certificates and loss of certificates. This had eroded investor confidence. In this scenario, it was felt that the setting up of a Depository and introduction of scrip less trading would improve the efficiency of Indian Capital markets. Investors also face lot of problems in registering the certificates, and also lose money and time because of fake certificates and bad deliveries in traditional manual method of transaction system. These demerits are reduced in the on-line trading system. Most of investors go to the share brokers to for any of the services to be availed may be professional help or online trading system. The purpose of this study is find out what are the customers expectations from the depository and depository participants, what are the rules to be followed by the depository, depository participants and investors. There may be various factors which may affect the customer while choosing the depository participant. The study is undertaken to perform the comparison of various Depository Participants in Bangalore City and the customers perception about the Depository Participants. The Descriptive Research and Analytical method is selected for this study as the data will be collected from the sample containing a large number of customers. Convenience sampling is used for this research. This study includes the investors of Bangalore Stock Exchange in Bangalore city. The sample size will be 200 respondents. The study will take into account the following 5 different depository participants: Bangalore Stock Exchange Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI Bank) HDFC Bank The Vysya Bank Ltd. A STUDY ON ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERCEIVED AUTONOMY SUPPORT AMONG PRE-UNIVERSITY COLLEGE TEACHERS
ABSTRACT Accountability of Teachers referred to as teacher accountability in educational literature is a multi-dimensional concept consisting of teacher participation in school decision making. It further focuses on what is best for the student and the profession of teaching. Self-determination theory postulates that when teachers perceive an autonomy supportive work climate which satisfies their three core psychological needs, (Competence, Autonomy and Relatedness) they experience a feeling of wellness and belongingness to the institution and are energized to exert extra effort in all the activities of the institution they engage in. The present study on Accountability and Perceived Autonomy Support among Pre-university College Teachers undertaken by the investigator focused on the relationship between ??Accountability of Teachers and Perceived Autonomy Support among Pre-university college teachers of Bangalore north and south belonging to three types of management such as government, private aided and private unaided. The aim of this study was to find out whether there is any relationship between Accountability of Teachers and Perceived Autonomy Support. The sample of the study consisted of 392 pre-university college teachers (both male and female) of three types of colleges; namely government, private aided and private unaided. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship between ??Accountability of Teachers and Perceived Autonomy Support among pre-university college teachers. Further female teachers are more accountable than their male counterparts and Married teachers are found be more accountable than unmarried teachers. It was also found that there is a significant difference in the Competence dimension of ??Perceived Autonomy Support among pre-university college teachers belonging to three types of management and the Private Aided pre-university college teachers have a higher level of Competence (dimension of Perceived Autonomy Support) compared to Private unaided pre-university college teachers. Private Aided Pre-university college teachers have higher level of Relatedness (dimension of Perceived Autonomy Support) as compared to Private unaided College Teachers. These findings give a clear indication to principals and administrators of private unaided pre-university colleges regarding the imperative need to implement appropriate strategies in order to enhance perceived autonomy support of their teachers. Key words: Accountability of Teachers, Perceived Autonomy Support, Pre-university college teachers
