Impact of meme marketing on consumer purchase intention: Examining the mediating role of consumer engagement
This paper analyzes an emerging form of social media marketing, meme marketing, which has gained attention for its ability to entertain and engage users. Marketers and companies are recognizing the value of using memes as a tool to connect with consumers. To understand the effects of meme marketing activities, this paper aims to examine the impact of meme marketing activities on consumer purchase intentions and concurrently assess the mediating role of consumer engagement. The study encompassed 452 Indian social media users with active social media accounts and familiarity with memes and meme marketing concepts. It employed a quantitative methodology backed by robust statistical techniques. The method used for analysis was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software. The results found that meme marketing activities have a direct and significant positive impact (? = 0.257, p < 0.05) on consumer purchase intentions. It further shows that meme marketing has a direct and significant positive impact (? = 0.745, p < 0.05) on consumer engagement. It shows that consumer engagement has a direct and significant positive effect (? = 0.651, p < 0.05) on consumer purchase intention. However, the indirect impact of meme marketing activities on consumer purchase intentions is also significant, resulting in partial mediation. This paper delves into the use of Internet memes as a means of spreading religion and ethical values in modern society. With the rise of the Internet and social media, memes have gained popularity as a form of shared content with the ability to convey meaningful messages. The research evaluates the prevalence and impact of memes in religious and ethical contexts. Through this research, the authors present their viewpoint after mulling over the findings of authors like Limor Shifman. The study asserts that memes can facilitate discussions, promote religious literacy, reinforce beliefs, and instil ethical values. Additionally, it anticipates that religious and ethical memes may influence individuals' actions in their daily lives. Enhanced Security for Large-Scale 6G Cloud Computing: A Novel Approach to Identity based Encryption Key Generation
Cloud computing and 6G networks are in high demand at present due to their appealing features as well as the security of data stored in the cloud. There are various challenging methods that are computationally complicated that can be used in cloud security. Identity-based encryption (IBE) is the most widely used techniques for protecting data transmitted over the cloud. To prevent a malicious attack, it is an access policy that restricts access to legible data to only authorized users. The four stages of IBE are setup, key extraction or generation, decryption and encryption. Key generation is a necessary and time-consuming phase in the creation of a security key. The creation of uncrackable and non-derivable secure keys is a difficult computational and decisional task. In order to prevent user identities from being leaked, even if an opponent or attacker manages to encrypted material or to decode the key this study presents an advanced identity-based encryption technique with an equality test. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm encrypts and decrypts data faster than the efficient selective-ID secure IBE strategy, a competitive approach. The proposed method's ability to conceal the identity of the user by utilizing the Lagrange coefficient, which is constituted of a polynomial interpolation function, is one of its most significant aspects. 2023 The Authors. A framework for national-level prevention initiatives in Indian schools: A risk reduction approach
India's mental health policies predominantly prioritize treatment and rehabilitation. While acknowledging the significance of youth well-being, the initiatives undertaken are fragmented, lacking comprehensive data on reach and utilization. Mounting evidence supports the preventability of mental illnesses, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of prevention initiatives, particularly within school-based programs. This paper aims to delineate a preventive framework centered on schools, employing the six-step OrigAMI (Origins of Adult Mental Illnesses) model. This model targets modifiable risk factors to stop the development of mental illnesses. Each step of this model is dissected and examined within the context of the school environment, elucidating the unique and influential role that educational institutions can undertake in preventive initiatives in India. In the initial step, the paper identifies modifiable risk factors in children and adolescents that can be addressed within the school environment. The second and third steps involve pinpointing the target demographic and utilizing data from comprehensive reviews of mental health initiatives. The fourth and fifth steps delineate the workforce structure, advocating for task shifting to non-specialists, engaging school stakeholders and parents, and establishing a systematic workforce framework. The final step delves into policy implications, exploring the potential to reduce the prevalence of mental illness by focusing on risk factors with a high Population Attributable Fraction. This section also contrasts the proposed approach in terms of expenditure against the current budget allocations. The paper culminates with a recommendation to integrate these preventive programs into existing healthcare policies, positioning schools as central to these prevention efforts. Training in Cultural Competence for Mental Health Care: A Mixed-Methods Study of Students, Faculty, and Practitioners from India and USA
Although the need to train clinicians to provide effective mental health care to individuals from diverse backgrounds has been recognized worldwide, a bulk of what we know about training in cultural competence (CC) is based on research conducted in the United States. Research on CC in mental health training from different world populations is needed due to the context-dependent nature of CC. Focusing on India and USA, two diverse countries that provide complementary contexts to examine CC, we explored graduate students, practicing clinicians, and faculty members perspectives regarding CCtraining they received/provided and future training needs using mixed-methods. The data were collected using focus groups (n = 25 groups total: 15 in India, 11 in USA), and a survey (n = 800: 450 in India, 350 in USA). Our data highlight the salient social identities in these countries, and the corresponding constituents of CC training. Participants in India described a practical emphasis to their CC training (e.g., learning about CC through life experiences and clinical practice experiences) more so than through coursework, whereas participants in USA described varying levels of courseworkrelated toCC along with practice. Participants in both countries considered enormity of CC as a challenge, while those in the US also identified CC training limited to a white, straight, male perspective, hesitancy in engaging with diversity topics, and limited time and competence of the faculty. Strengths of CC training in India and USA are mutually informative in generating recommendations for enhancing the training in both countries. The Author(s) 2024. -
Parental socialization of positive affect, adolescent positive affect regulation, and adolescent girls depression in India
An emerging body of research shows that parental socialization of positive affect (PA) is implicated in youth functioning, although most evidence comes from Western countries. In this study, focusing on adolescent girls in India, we examined associations among reports of parents responses to adolescent PA, adolescent PA regulation, and adolescent depression. A total of 238 adolescent girls (1318years) and one of their parents (54% mothers) were recruited. Participants completed questionnaires at the beginning of the school year (time 1) and five months later (time 2). At the bivariate level, parents dampening and adolescent girls dampening responses were each associated concurrently with adolescent depression at time 1. However, there were no significant direct associations between time 1 parents dampening or enhancing responses and time 2 adolescent girls depression (after controlling for time 1 depression). Using half-longitudinal models, a significant indirect effect was found from parental dampening of PA to increased adolescent depression via adolescent girls own increased dampening. No indirect effect was found from parental enhancing to adolescent depression via adolescent girls increased positive rumination. These findings are the first to demonstrate the relevance of PA socialization for girls in a non-Western culture. 2018 John Wiley & Sons Ltd -
Artificial intelligence service agents: a silver lining in rural India
Purpose: The study aims to examine the impact of an artificial intelligent service agent (AISA) on customer services to the rural population provided by KAYA, Kotak Life's AI-enabled insurance chatbot avatar that offers quality insurance services. Design/methodology/approach: Multi-stage cluster sampling method was adopted to collect the responses from the 707 customers across the rural population of southern states of India. SPSS V.2 and Smart PLS 4 were used to apply simple percentage analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM) to validate the hypothesis. The dependent variables are economic performance and market performance based on the independent variables: efficiency, security, availability, enjoyment and contact. Findings: The study revealed that efficiency and security are the highest predictors and the most influencing variables in predicting the economic and market performance of the insurance companies in determining the quality of service when rendered through AISA among the customers. Efficiency, security, availability, contact and enjoyment are the critical dimensions of AISA. It has a more significant impact on quality service (claim processing) to the rural population. It improves the economic and market performance among the insurance companies and the rural population. Originality/value: Customers need convenience when making claims. Even little challenges might lead to stress and unhappiness, depending on the situation. Restrictions on where customers can file claims may not be the most outstanding service insurance firms can offer, given rising travel and commuting costs and widening geographical borders. Intention to use fintech services: An investigation into the moderation effects of quality of internet access and digital skills
This paper aims to investigate the moderating influence of the quality of access to internet and digital skills on the factors that influence the intention to use fintech services among the young working population in India. We use the Theory of Planned Behavior to examine the intention to adopt financial technology in a rapidly technologically transformative Indian landscape. We conducted an empirical investigation on 324 young workers in India using the survey method. The TPB model's relevance in an Indian context is validated. Attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms together accounted for 48.7% of the variation in the intention to use fintech services. The quality of internet access significantly moderated the positive effect of young workers' attitudes on their intention to use fintech. Digital skills significantly moderated the positive effects of attitude and perceived behavioral control on intentions to use fintech services. India is considered a very fast adopter of digital technology. In India, the use of electronic channels in financial service delivery is on the rise. With the wide geographic dispersion and huge population, the quality of internet access and digital skills can influence the intention to use fintech services. There can be vast differences in the behavioral mindset of people in a developing country like India compared to that of a developed one regarding the use and adoption of digital platforms for accessing financial services. Developers and regulators must adopt approaches and policies that consider these behavioral factors. This paper examines the Theory of Planned Behaviour in the context of a rapidly transforming behavioural context in India with the adoption of technology-based financial services. Development and validation of a multi-dimensional scale to measure the factors influencing fintech firms capacity to impact digital financial inclusion
The purpose of the present study is to develop a multi-item scale to measure the factors that affect fintech firms capacity to impact digital financial inclusion. Fintech, or financial service delivery supported by advanced technology, has tremendously changed the financial services landscape. It has a potential to improve digital financial inclusion and help the poor. Digital financial inclusion is important since it ensures cost-saving digital mechanisms to provide financial services to the financially excluded and underserved populations. Following an inductive method, a qualitative study was undertaken among managerial staff in fintech firms. The scale development process involved the collection of primary data for pre-testing the questionnaire. The study identified four factors that affect a fintech firms capability of impacting digital financial inclusion: resources and capabilities, business models, networks and partnerships, and market and environment. Digital financial inclusion scale is composed of digital skills, access, and quality of access. The final scale consisted of sixty-four items. Though financial inclusion is usually measured from a demand-side perspective, this study provides a supply-side measure for digital financial inclusion. Thus, it can help in identifying and understanding the factors that may hamper fintech firms capability to attain desirable outcomes with respect to digital financial inclusion. 2024 Conscientia Beam. Will mobile application technology help retail merchandising? Breakthrough innovation by FMCG companies
Forthe retail business to run successfully and to improve sales, the critical component is to display its products and services in a visually appealing manner. Retail merchandising assists the retailers to attract shoppers and influence their purchase. Often, the merchandising updates are not escalated up the hierarchy ladder as they are much dynamic and spontaneous in nature. Top manufacturing FMCG companies like HUL, ITC, etc. took up this challenge of modern trade merchandising by maintaining manpower in organized retail stores to tap the cutting edge of competitive advantage. The key challenges of these merchandisers include - maintaining overall shelf health, frequency and consistency of restocking, tracking the competition actions in the store, eliminating the conflicting signages, remove broken displays, and display compliances. These FMCG companies have adopted a breakthrough innovation of mobile applications to overcome these challenges. This study is novel and investigated the sales performance improvement through mobile application technology. The research was conducted in two parts. Part 1 included structural interviews (one-on-one) with retail store managers and FMCG sales representatives. The results disclosed eight major attributes as store trend, competition update, personnel management, stock availability, demand creation, in-store visibility, new products launch and promo packs, and share of shelf to improve sales performance. Part 2 examined the significance of these eight factors through quantitative study by considering FMCG merchandisers as respondents. The study identified that competition update, stock availability, personnel management, in-store visibility, and share of shelf were significant factors that impacted sales performance in retail merchandising by utilizing mobile technology applications. 2020, Associated Management Consultants Pvt. Taguchi-based ANN predictions to analyze the tensile strength of adhesive-bonded single lap joints
The adhesive bonding method is commonly used in various industries to join different materials because of its benefits, which include a high strength-to-weight ratio, low cost, and high efficiency properties. Automotive, aerospace, marine, and construction industries are increasingly using adhesively bonded joints because the hand layup techniques involve simpler fabrication methodologies, maintenance procedures, and controllable stress distribution parameters in the overlap region, which ultimately lead to easier production of automobile, aircraft, and ship components. The objective of the present work is primarily to assess the overlap length in conjunction with the adhesive strength of glass-epoxy adherends bonded with epoxy resin. In this article, the experiments are performed on single lap-bonded joints. The parameters considered for the current work involve the length of overlap, which is maintained at 15, 25, and 35 mm, and adhesive bonding thickness that is maintained at 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5 mm, respectively. The strength of the adhesively bonded lap joint is determined using a Universal Testing Machine (Lloyd Instruments Ltd., West Sussex, United Kingdom) with a 1-20 kN capacity. The investigational outcome reveals that, as the overlap length of the adhesively bonded single lap joint increases, a substantial increase in the joint strength is observed; additionally, it is noted that, with the increase in adhesive thickness, the joint strength decreases. It was observed that the artificial neural network-predicted values from the analysis were extremely close to the experimental values, and the difference between the experimental and predicted values was very small. Effect of heat treated HNT on physico-mechanical properties of epoxy nanocomposites
Halloysite Nano Tubes (HNTs) are naturally occurring Kaolite group minerals having an aluminosilicate-layer in the form of nanotubes which are known to enhance the properties of the polymer matrix composites when effectively dispersed in the epoxy matrix phase. In this regard, the present work is carried out to fabricate the composite specimens by polymer stir casting techniques and evaluate the basic properties viz., density, hardness, tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and the microstructure using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) for better morphological studies of the dispersions in the nanocomposites with a filler content of 0, 5 and 10 wt% of HNT's that are effectively treated at three temperature conditions viz., Room temperature (RT), 50 C and 70 C according to specified ASTM test methods selected after thorough investigations and review of literature. As per the experimental investigation, the mechanical properties of the nanocomposite increases by the incorporation of heat treated HNT. Further, the study revealed that the nano composite with a filler content of 10 Wt.% of HNT preheat treated at 50 C shows superior tensile and flexural strength, However the critical observation of the results reveal that the impact strength is maximum for Nano composites with a filler content of 5 Wt.% HNT pre heat treated at 70 C. The study of TEM images gives an overview of uniform dispersion of HNTs in the matrix phase owing to varying pre-treatment conditions. Enhancement of mechanical properties of epoxy/halloysite nanotube (HNT) nanocomposites
The particulate filled epoxy composites show lower mechanical properties than neat composites due to lack strength of uniform dispersion of particles leading to poor in interfacial strength between matrix and fillers. In this study, ultrasonification dispersion technique is employed to achieve a homogenous dispersion of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) in epoxy resin. The nanocomposites are fabricated by solution casting method and specimens are prepared as per ASTM standards. The various test has been conducted as per ASTM procedure to evaluate the mechanical properties viz. density, hardness, tensile, flexural, ILSS and impact strength of the nanocomposites consisting of different weight (wt)% of HNTs varying in the range of 04 with the interval of 1. As per the experimental investigation, the selected dispersion techniques enhances the mechanical properties of the nanocomposite by the loading of HNT. Further, the study revealed that the 3wt% of HNT with ultrasonic homogenized nanocomposite shows superior mechanical strength as compared to other nanocomposites. Hence it is evident that the properties of the nanocomposite depends on the quantity of filler present and dispersion condition. A comparative study on the effect of HNT and nano-alumina particles on the mechanical properties of vacuum bag moulded glass-epoxy nanocomposites
In the present work, the mechanical properties of the Halloysite nanotube (HNT) and Nano-Alumina particle additions in glass-epoxy nanocomposites are investigated experimentally. The composite specimens for tensile, flexural, interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and impact tests are prepared by vacuum bag moulding process and tested in accordance with the ASTM standards. HNT/Nano-Alumina particle contents are varied from 0 to 4 wt. %, while the weight fraction of glass fiber is kept constant at 60%. The strength values of the respective tests are obtained and compared graphically to study the effect of nanoparticle type and content on the mechanical properties. From the experimentation and subsequent result analysis, considerable improvements in the mechanical properties are observed with the addition of nanoparticles as compared to neat composites. The 3 wt.% addition of HNT in the nanocomposites resulted in increase in tensile strength, elastic modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, ILSS and impact energy values by 12.7%, 6.96%, 5.46%, 4.49%, 7.44% and 119.3% respectively in comparison with the same weight percentage of Nano-Alumina. HNT modified composites reveal an improvement in mechanical properties, hence qualifying it as a most promising cost-effective reinforcing filler for glass-epoxy composites. Further, the SEM micrographs of fractured surfaces are analyzed to study the failure mechanisms and fracture morphologies of higher loaded composites (4 wt.%) and understand the reason for decline in mechanical properties. 2021 Published by Semnan University Press. Wear characterization of hnt filled glass-epoxy composites using taguchis design of experiments and study of wear morphology
Glass-epoxy composites are increasingly being used in several industrial applications, viz. automobile, marine, aerospace, electrical and electronics components, especially in tribological components, viz. bearings, impellers, cams, driving wheels, bolts, nuts, seals, bushes and gears, which are used extensively in machinery because their lower weight, exceptional strength, resistance to corrosion capabilities, and cost effectiveness. The work focuses on optimization of the process parameters of the dry sliding wear test, viz. the applied load, disc rotation speed, weight percentage (wt.%) of the Halloysite nanotube (HNT) filler, time as well as the track diameter to minimize the wear rate of the glass fabric reinforced epoxy composite against EN-32 steel. In this research, the specimens are fabricated in accordance with the ASTM G-99 standard and the experiment is carried out with various combinations of parameters using a pin-on-disc tribometer, while keeping the time and track diameter constant. To proceed further, trial runs are conducted using MINITAB 19 software to optimize the process parameters for minimum wear by developing Taguchis design of experiments (DOE) based on the L45 orthogonal array (OA), and subse-quent analysis of the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. The results of the optimization clearly indicate that the wt.% of HNT is the most significant parameter that has a significant effect on minimizing the applied load, speed and sliding wear rate. In over-view, the experiment results showed that the combined parameters influenced the wear. In addition, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is performed to study the surface morphologies of the worn specimens and determine the wear mechanism in accordance with the test results. The wear mechanism clearly indicates that there is a larger amount of matrix debris, fiber breakage and fiber-matrix debonding in the neat composites as compared to the HNT filled glass-epoxy composites since a distinct pattern of micro coring and segregation of the filler along the peripheries of the glass fiber-epoxy interstitial sites, leading to strong bonding between the fibers and matrix are observed in the HNT filled composites. The strong bonding thus resists the wear to a certain extent, and the wear debris is relatively less in the HNT filled composites as compared to the neat composites. 2020, Polish Society of Composite Materials. Antiwear performance evaluation of halloysite nanotube (HNT) filled polymer nanocomposites
Polymer nanocomposites containing various types of reinforcements and fillers are oftenly used in applications such as sliding elements in the machine and automotive parts, gear assemblies etc., in which tribological performance parameters viz. friction and wear are the major issues. In this work, the specific wear rate of HNT filler loading (0-4wt %) in Glass-Epoxy nanocomposites fabricated by vacuum bagging technique are evaluated experimentally. For this purpose, the specimens are prepared and tests are conducted as per the ASTM G-99 standard for a number of trials with the assistance of a pin-on-disc machine by varying load and speed values, keeping time and track diameter constant. The results obtained from experiments reveals that reduction in specific wear rate and the amount of material loss is quite significant for HNT loaded specimens when compared with neat sample even at higher operating conditions. This indicates that HNT comprises of hard ceramic elements viz. SiO2 and Al2O3 which eventually enhances the antiwear behaviour of prepared nanocomposites. Synthesis, Properties and Applications of Polymer Nanocomposites-A Review
Polymer nanocomposites have been a rapidly expanding research topic for producing materials over the last few decades. In the previous two decades, there has been a significant scientific interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Nanomaterials' distinct features are related to quantum phenomena, greater surface area, and self-assembly. Quantum effects can begin to dominate matter's behaviour in the nanoscale, particularly at the lower end, affecting optical, electrical, and magnetic properties. Nanomaterials have evolved into nanocomposites with numerous applications. Its applications catapulted them to prominence in the field of material research. Because of their unique property combinations and design practicality, polymer nanocomposites are employed in sports equipment, wastewater treatment, the automobile industry, and biomedical applications. Even though they have numerous advantages, producing them in sufficient quantities and high quality is still one of the biggest challenges. During the last few decades, polymer nanocomposites have been a fast-developing research topic for material production. There has been a surge in scientific interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology during the last two decades. Nanomaterials have developed into nanocomposites, which have a wide range of uses. Its uses propelled them to the forefront of material research. Nanocomposites physical, mechanical, barrier, flame retardancy, optical, dielectric, rheological, and thermal characteristics have been thoroughly researched. Large scale extinction maps with UVIT
The Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) is scheduled to be launched as a part of the ASTROSAT satellite. As part of the mission planning for the instrument we have studied the efficacy of UVIT observations for interstellar extinction measurements. We find that in the best case scenario, the UVIT can measure the reddening to an accuracy of about 0. 02 magnitudes, which combined with the derived distances to the stars, will enable us to model the three-dimensional distribution of extinction in our Galaxy. The knowledge of the distribution of the ISM will then be used to study distant objects, affected by it. This work points the way to further refining the UVIT mission plan to best satisfy different science studies. 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht. -
An IoT-based tracking application to monitor goods carrying vehicle for public distribution system in India
Designing a secured transportation system to handover food items to various fair price shops is one of the objectives of smart city development in India. In this paper, an IoT-based tracking solution for moving goods carrying vehicle is proposed. A hardware prototype model is developed using different sensors with GPS/GPRS tracking module and is attached to the vehicle. An alarm is raised to make decision in case of trouble or malfunction. The data generated by the model during the movement of vehicle is encrypted using RSA algorithm and sent to cloud for monitoring by an application developed using PHP and analysis using MapReduce programming model. Experiments are conducted to study the feasibility of the developed model during deployment. From the experiment it is observed that, the developed hardware model and the application meet the objective of monitoring vehicle, safer recovery in case of malfunction and secured delivery of items.
