A Study of Preprocessing Techniques on Digital Microscopic Blood Smear Images to Detect Leukemia
Digital microscopic blood smear images can get distorted due to the noise as a result of excessive staining during slide preparation or external factors during the acquisition of images. Noise in the image can affect the output of further steps in image processing and can have an impact on the accuracy of results. Hence, it is always better to denoise the image before feeding it to the automatic diagnostic system. There are many noise reduction filters available; the selection of the best filter is also very important. This paper presents a comparative study of some common spatial filters like wiener filter, bilateral filter, Gaussian filter, median filter and mean filter which are efficient in noise reduction, along with their summary and experimental results. Performing comparative analysis of result based on PSNR, SNR and MSE values, it can be determined that median filter is most suitable method for denoising digital blood smear images. 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. -
A study of pulsation & rotation in a sample of A-K type stars in the Kepler field
We present the results of time-series photometric analysis of 15106 A-K type stars observed by the Kepler space mission. We identified 513 new rotational variables and measured their starspot rotation periods as a function of spectral type and discuss the distribution of their amplitudes. We examined the well-established period-color relationship that applies to stars of spectral types F5-K for all of these rotational variables and, interestingly, found that a similar period-color relationship appears to extend to stars of spectral types A7 to early-F too. This result is not consistent with the very foundation of the period-color relationship. We have characterized 350 new non-radial pulsating variables such as A- and F-type candidate ? Scuti, ? Doradus and hybrid stars, which increases the known candidate non-radial pulsators in the Kepler field significantly, by ?20%. The relationship between two recently constructed observables, Energy and Efficiency, was also studied for the large sample of non-radial pulsators, which shows that the distribution in the logarithm of Energy (log (En)) can be used as a potential tool to distinguish between the non-radial pulsators, to some extent. Through visual inspection of the light curves and their corresponding frequency spectra, we found 23 new candidate red giant solar-like oscillators not previously reported in the literature. The basic physical parameters such as masses, radii and luminosities of these solar-like oscillators were also derived using asteroseismic relations. 2018, The Author(s). -
A study of quadratic thermal radiation and quadratic convection on viscoelastic material flow with two different heat source modulations
In many practical applications such as plastic manufacturing and the polymer industries, the temperature difference is substantially large as a result the density of the working fluid alters nonlinearly with temperature. Therefore, the nonlinear Boussinesq (NBA) approximation cannot be ignored, as it has a considerable impact on the flow and heat transport characteristics of the working fluid. Here, the non-Newtonian viscoelastic material flow driven by stretching of elastic sheet subjected to NBA and quadratic form of Rosseland thermal radiation is investigated. Two different heat source modulations, viz., exponential space-dependent heat source, and a temperature-related heat source are analyzed. The viscoelastic material obeys the quadratic Boussinesq approximation. The fluctuation of plate temperature is linear and the transpiration (plate mass suction) is also accounted. The Darcy law is employed for a porous medium. The dimensionless profiles of the velocity, heat transport rate, and temperature are simulated by solving the nonlinear two-point boundary value system by employing the finite difference-based routine. The significance of key parameters involved in the problem is studied on various flow fields via surface and streamline plots. It is found that the quadratic convection mechanism enhanced the Nusselt number; however, the quadratic thermal radiation aspect reduced the Nusselt number. The higher velocities are captured in the case of quadratic thermal convection as compared with its absence. Whereas this trend is quite opposite for the thermal field. The velocity of viscoelastic material positively correlated with the viscoelastic material parameter. Further, the outcome of this investigation helps in determining the key parameters which facilitate the desired heat transport rate. 2021 Elsevier Ltd -

In medical image processing, the segmentation of the image is considered to be a vital stage and is effectively used to extract the region of interest. Automated diagnosis of leukaemia is highly associated with the accurate segmentation of the cell nucleus. The purpose of this paper is to review and analyze literature related to some of the major segmentation techniques used in the field of Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) detection. A Study of Simulated Working of A* and RRT* for Cargo Ship in ASVs
With the increased amount of algorithms for the path planning and collision avoidance of ASVs. The need for an unbiased protective path planning directs the need for decision in stochastic areas in the vast ocean for cargo ship. Autonomous surface vehicles should take appropriate decision on the path according to the dynamic environment and the obstacle that is before them. In some cases, environment, time, and size should be considered to acquire the fastest path and methods that could be suited for collision avoidance. This paper investigates the need for a well-known path planning method that has handled the situation based on the dynamic properties of the vehicle in the ocean. The simulated result shows a slight variation in their proposed path in terms of time and collision in terms of size. Therefore, using a realistic approach of the A* algorithm and the RRT*, we can handle the scenario of dynamic environment. A study of the natural convection of water- AA 7075 nanoliquids in low-porosity cylindrical annuli using a local thermal non-equilibrium model
Natural convection in nanoliquid-saturated porous cylindrical annuli due to uniform heat and mass influxes from the solid cylinder and effluxes from the outer hollow cylinder is investigated analytically. The Darcy model and the modified version of the Buongiorno two-phase model are used, and local thermal non-equilibrium between the phases is assumed. A nanoliquid-saturated porous medium made up of glass balls with a dilute concentration of AA7075 alloy nanoparticles well-dispersed in water is considered. Out of three types of annuli considered, shallow annuli provide the best heat transport and tall annuli show the worst performance. The presence of a dilute concentration of nanoparticles significantly enhances the heat transport in the system. Of nine nanoparticle shapes considered, lamina-shaped nanoparticles enhance heat transport the most. Heat transport is enhanced in the case of heat-and-mass-driven convection compared to the case of purely heat-driven convection. The results for a rectangular enclosure are obtained as a particular case of the present study. Two asymptotic routes that take us to the results of thermal equilibrium are shown. The vanishing limit of the concentration Rayleigh number yields the result for a single-phase model. Results for the base-liquid-saturated porous medium form a limiting case of the present study. We conclude that a shallow cylindrical annulus saturated with water-AA7075 lamina-shaped alloy nanoparticles is best suited for heat transfer due to its high effective thermal conductivity in comparison with that of other shaped nanoparticles and a tall rectangular enclosure saturated by water is best suited for heat storage applications. 2021 Author(s). -
A study of the structure, luminescence and cytotoxicity of new green-emitting terbium-doped CaS nanophosphors
CaS nanoparticles have attracted significant attention due to their wide range of optoelectronic applications. The synthesis of CaS nanophosphors doped with different terbium concentrations through a simple wet chemical co-precipitation method using triethanolamine (TEOA) as a capping agent is reported here. X-ray diffractogram ensured that the nanoparticles were crystallized in the cubic phase with space groupFm3 m. Morphology and particle size of the TEOA-capped CaS:Tb nanophosphors were determined using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The optical properties of the samples were studied by photoluminescence spectroscopy and UVVis absorption measurements. The prepared nanoparticles exhibited green luminescence, which is attributed to 5D47FJ transitions of terbium ions incorporated into the CaS lattice. The existence of various functional groups in the synthesized products was identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The lifetime decay measurements showed that the lifetime of the samples was in the nanosecond range. Cytotoxicity analysis of the nanoparticles was carried out on L929 fibroblast cells, which confirmed that the nanoparticles are biocompatible across a wide range of concentrations. Our findings indicate that CaS:Tb nanophosphor could be a potential candidate as a green-emitting phosphor in optoelectronics and biomedical field. 2020, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. -

A Study on Bivariate Inverse Topp-Leone Model to Counter Heterogeneous Data: Properties, Dependence Studies, Classical and Bayesian Estimation
In probability and statistics, reliable modeling of bivariate continuous characteristics remains a real insurmountable consideration. During the analysis of bivariate data, we have to deal with heterogeneity that is present in data. Therefore, for dealing with such a scenario, we investigate a novel technique based on a Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) copula and the inverse Topp-Leone (ITL) model in this study. The idea is to use the oscillating functionalities of the FGM copula and the flexibility of the ITL model to propose a serious bivariate solution for the modeling of bivariate lifetime phenomena to counter the heterogeneity present in data. Both theory and practice are developed. In particular, we determine the main functions related to the model, like the cumulative model function, probability density function, and various useful dependence measures for bivariate modeling. The model parameters are estimated using the maximum likelihood method and Bayesian framework of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methodology. Following that, model comparison methods are used to compare models. Branding strategies and customer involvement have become central to Indian businesses as sustainability gains prominence across both offline and online businesses. Due to rising environmental concerns, companies are focusing on sustainable practices, energy-efficient solutions, and eco-friendly products to meet consumer demands and regulatory standards. Purchasing the products based on green innovative marketing strategies has attracted people from various nations, too. However, purchasing decisions vary from one individual to another based on the driving factors like persona, psychological, economic, payment mode, social, quality, trust, cost, reputation, reviews and offers. In this research, the association between branding strategies as an independent factor using green innovation and international marketing strategies against the dependent factor, customer involvement in the textile industry, is examined. The moderating factor disposable income is adopted here, which gives this research its uniqueness, significance and novelty. The research adopts SEM analysis for examining the variables and the Hayes Process for moderating factor analysis. The targets are people who are interested in fashion clothing. The sample size used is n=589. The findings showed that there exists an association between green innovation in marketing (GIM) and purchase decision involvement (PDI) and international marketing (IM) and PDI. Similarly, the moderating factor, disposable income (DI), moderates the association between GIM and PDI; whereas it doesnt moderate the IM and PDI. A Study on Challenges and Solutions in the Uptake of Agricultural Technology Startups Services in Karnataka
In congruence with overarching trend of digitalization sweeping across India, agricultural sector is currently experiencing remarkable advancements propelled by innovative technological solutions introduced by emerging startups in agritech domain. The state of Karnataka is swiftly solidifying its position as preeminent leader in agritech industry attracting heightened interest from venture capital investors in recent times and emerging as dominant recipient of these investments garnering substantial 52% share followed by Maharashtra at 18% and Tamil Nadu at 9.2%. The principal aim of this research endeavor is to scrutinize socioeconomic impediments hindering adoption of AgriTech within rural precincts of Karnataka specifically in districts of Rural Bangalore (Doddabalapura and Nelmangala) and Davanagere (Shiramagondonahalli). The study seeks to gauge perceptions of farmers regarding potential solutions aimed at fostering greater adoption of AgriTech in these aforementioned regions. The study employed descriptive analysis by utilizing data obtained from judiciously selected sample of 120 farmers dichotomized into those who had availed themselves of AgriTech services and those who had not as provided by AgriTech firms. Empirical findings illuminate formidable impact of socioeconomic factors encompassing economic standing, land ownership classification and educational attainment in shaping farmers receptivity toward AgriTech utilization. The study unearthed valuable insights pertaining to propositions put forth by farmers to enhance adoption of AgriTech practices among their peers. The study furnishes valuable elucidations concerning barriers impeding adoption of AgriTech and offers viable solutions to invigorate increased participation among farmers in realm of AgriTech proffering pertinent recommendations to stakeholders such as AgriTech startup executives, researchers and policymakers urging them to meticulously assess local socioeconomic dynamics and tailor AgriTech services in accordance with discerned needs and preferences of farming community. A study on comparisons of additive regression frailty models to counter heterogeneity: Bayesian strategies and case study
Historically, the primary goal of conventional survival study methods has been to reduce the frequency of failures over time. If the associated observed and unobserved variables are not known when studying such events, this can have detrimental effects. Frailty models offer a tempting solution for investigating the impact of unknown variables in such a case. In this article, we assume that frailty affects the hazard rate. We find that the weighted Lindley frailty models, which use general versions of the Weibull and log-logistic type II distributions as the baseline distributions, are a reliable method for ensuring the influence of endogenous variability. The parameters involved are estimated according to different loss functions using the Bayesian structure as the basis of Markov Chain Monte Carlo. Bayesian evaluation strategies are then implemented to evaluate the models. The results are demonstrated on known data of kidney infections. It is shown that the novel models outperform those based on the inverse Gaussian and gamma frailty distributions. 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. -

In this paper, we introduce the notion of an equivalence graph based on equivalence relation defined on a group. Furthermore, restricting ourselves to conjugacy relation, a special type of equivalence graph called a conjugacy graph is also defined.
