<text>A promising solution for the detection of spectrum holes in the Internet of Things networks is the cognitive radio (CR) system, which is used to identify spectrum holes effectively. The intention of this work is to design a low-complexity Reconfigurable Regulated Bank of Filter (RRBF) structure for spectrum hole detection in IoT networks. The RRBF structure is designed by utilizing the Frequency Response Masking (FRM) approach and the Cosine Modulation Technique (CMT). Using the RRBF structure, multiple sharp non-uniform channels are generated for efficient spectrum hole detection in IoT networks. With the aid of an example, the performance and computational complexity of the RRBF structure are demonstrated. The result shows that the RRBF structure has a fewer multipliers than other existing methods. To obtain hardware-efficient realization, the RRBF structure is made of multiplier-less by incorporating Canonical Signed Digit (CSD), Multi-Objective Artificial Bee Colony (MOABC), and Shift Inclusive Differential Coefficients (SIDC) with Common Sub-expression Elimination (CSE) optimization techniques. 2024 IETE.</text>

<text>Several consumer products look enticing due to colors and there has been a demand for colors for various applications ever since human civilization started. Although in the primitive days, humans had used natural colors, the wake of the industrial revolution saw the excessive use of diverse types of synthetic colors. Although it looked very fancy initially, slowly scientists discovered the dangers of large-scale use of these colorants. The current demand is for natural colors, and hence, there is a scope for sources of natural colors from biosources. The present study involved the isolation of an endophytic fungus, Fusarium solani producing a red pigment from the polluted waters of Madiwala lake in Bangalore. The fungal extract showed good antimicrobial and moderate antioxidant properties. Cytotoxicity assays using brine shrimps proved negligible toxicity which is a positive trait for natural colorants for safer applications in industries. Media optimization and solid state fermentation were carried out to improve the yield of the fungal pigment and also to formulate a cheaper media for fungal multiplication and pigment production. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles was also carried out with the fungal extract and the nanoparticles were characterized. Thus, the present study provides an option for the extraction of environment friendly natural colorant from the fungus F. solani for potential industrial applications. 2024 Bhoomika Prakash Poornamath, et al.</text>

<text>This study aims to identify and test the antecedents affecting students' satisfaction and its relationship with happiness. A conceptual model was designed with the dimensions such as happiness, recognition, gratitude, physical health, and negative emotion to measure students' satisfaction. Martin Seligman's 'theory of well-being' was employed to measure the happiness of the students. Data was collected from 202 respondents and a structural equation modelling (SEM) approach was employed for analysis. The results of the study indicate that physical health, gratitude, and negative emotion influence the satisfaction of students in higher education. It was found that positive emotion and relationships have a significant influence on the happiness of the students. A relationship between satisfaction and happiness was developed. In extension to the present study's findings, a model and scorecard are proposed that can be used to measure the happiness and satisfaction of students in higher educational institutions in India. 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.. <text>In the modern technology-driven era, it is important to consider a new model of education to keep pace with Industry 4.0. In view of this, the present paper critically explores the issues, discusses potential solutions along with a comprehensive analysis of the applications of technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) in modern education specially Education 4.0, and examines the potential of these technologies to transform the education sector. The challenges faced by previous education models are analysed along with how they pave the way to the inclusion of IoT in education, leading to Education 4.0. The potential benefits of IoT in improving learning outcomes, enhancing student engagement and retention, and supporting teachers are also highlighted. In addition, it addresses the ethical and privacy concerns associated with the use of these technologies and suggests areas for future research. 2023 A. K. Biswal et al.</text>

<text>Forensic analysis is an enormous field comprising the detection of various types of samples. The objective of forensic evidence examination is to provide a cohesive, transparent, and unbiased judgment of the evidence's significance to the investigators. Graphene oxide (GO) is an abundant substance that comprises carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in a single layer making it highly economical. Therefore, the utilization of GO is highly considered for achieving the detection and analysis of various substrates. This can be justified by its facile and economical preparation that contributes to improving its significance and applicability. Forensic samples include trace elements that can be pre-concentrated with the help of a sustainable medium provided by GO. This book chapter aims to provide exciting insights into the synthesis, properties, and applications of GO in the detection of various forensic samples of GO. 2024</text>

<text>In this research, we contribute to the development of original discrete distributions for count data analysis. We elaborate four new and different discrete trigonometric distributions with two parameters based on a discretization of the so-called sin-Weibull, cos-Weibull, tan-Weibull, and type II tan-Weibull distributions. We investigate the advantages of the proposed distributions and their trigonometric nature for capturing count data. In particular, some fundamental distributional properties of the discrete sin-Weibull distribution are derived. Subsequently, we turn it into a statistical model. Parameter estimation by the maximum likelihood and proportion of zeros and ones methods are then discussed. A simulation study is carried out to evaluate some frequentist properties of the developed methodology. As the study focuses mainly on the practical aspect, the applicability of the proposed models is evaluated using real-count datasets from various fields. 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.</text>

<text>Citrus medica (Citron) is an underutilised plant consisting of various bioactive elements with numerous medicinal benefits. The present study aimed to evaluate the bioactive properties, including anthelmintic, antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer activities, of chloroform extract obtained from the of fruit peel of C. medica. The different types of phytochemicals present in the chloroform extract were analysed using GC-MS. The major components detected included n-hexadecanoic acid, octadecanoic acid, t-tetradecenal, 1-nonadecene etc. Anthelmintic study was conducted using Eisenia fetida as a test organism, revealing a significant anthelmintic effect in the C. medica fruit peel extract compared to the standard drug. Antimicrobial properties were assessed against five test bacterial and fungal strains. Antibacterial tests showed zones of inhibition ranging from 8 to 11 mm, while no prominent zones of inhibition were observed in antifungal tests. The DPPH assay demonstrated significant antioxidant properties of Citron fruit peel extract compared to the standard ascorbic acid. The Chloroform extract of citron fruit peel exhibited significant cytotoxic properties against FaDu (human hypopharyngeal tumour) cell line. The present study indicates the potential of the chloroform extract of C. medica fruit peel to be employed as an anthelmintic, antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer agent. Hence, it emphasises the prominence that can be given to the dietary consumption of citrus fruit peel in various forms, such as dried peel, powder etc. The Author(s).</text>

<text>Peer victimisation is a term used to describe the process of an individual being bullied by other peers, physically as well as socially, which affects the victims personality, emotional functioning, behaviour, and well-being. In response, the victims adopt several coping strategies to deal with the situation. However, the experience makes an indelible mark on those who have been victims of the process. This current study aims to understand the perspectives of young adults who have experienced peer victimisation and also explore the coping strategies used by them. The study adopts a qualitative research design, based on which data was collected from young adults (n = 10) using semi-structured interviews. After a process of screening, participants were chosen using a purposive sampling method. The data collected was analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), through which various super-ordinate themes emerged. The significant themes focus on the nature of peers, experiences of peer victimisation, risk factors leading to peer victimisation, consequences of peer victimisation, coping mechanisms, and strategies to prevent peer victimisation. The findings highlight the understanding of the repercussions of peer victimisation and emphasise the need to adopt innovative strategies, implement pre-emptive interventions, and mandate decisive measures to mitigate instances of peer victimisation. <text>During the COVID-19 outbreak, cases of violence and abuse have increased significantly around the world, necessitating a reevaluation of our relation-ships. Both violence and abuse seek to control and instill fear in the individ-ual, gradually disrupting their overall well-being. Emotional abuse does not receive the same level of attention and social response as other forms of abuse due to its subtle nature. Its effects are as harmful as physical and sexual abuse, with serious consequences for the mental health of individual and their families. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light the importance of mental health. With the imposition of lockdown in India, the number of helplines for domestic violence and abuse has skyrocketed. Abuse experien-ces can be seen to be bidirectional; women are not alone in such instances. Many cases, however, go unreported and never reach formal institutions. The National Family Health Survey (2019-2021) reveals the current state of Indian health and nutrition, but emotional abuse (also referred to inter-changeably in this article as emotional violence) only includes responses from women and is no longer included under spousal violence in the most recent edition. This article also includes recommendations and attempts to highlight existing shortcomings in addressing the issue of emotional violence. The articles cited in this article were obtained from electronic databases. Other secondary data sources mentioned include newspaper articles, magazines, census reports, and periodicals. 2024 Springer Publishing Company.</text>

<text>The fast fashion industry has been criticized for negatively impacting the economy, environment, and social justice. Consequently, many brands adopt sustainable marketing practices to promote eco-friendly manufacturing and encourage sustainable purchase behaviour. To explore this trend, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among fashion brand consumers using a quantitative research design. The survey data was analyzed using variance-based partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that sustainable marketing practices can be supported by creating a positive brand image and building trust. Such practices can positively influence consumers' perception of sustainability and promote brand loyalty, which can lead to sustainable purchasing behaviour. The study provides valuable insights into sustainable marketing strategies that fashion brands can adopt to promote sustainable practices and policies in local markets. 2024, idd3. <text>The bioconvective Heimanz flow of nanofluid across a wedge with thermal stratification is analyzed in this article. The wedges are often seen in glider aircraft, rocket climbing frames, etc. The nanofluid considered in this study is composed of aluminum alloys of AA7072 and deionized water. The AA7072 alloys are specially manufactured materials composed of Aluminum and Zinc in the ratio of (Formula presented.) along with metals like silicon, ferrous, and copper so that they possess enhanced heat transfer features. The mathematical model is formed using the modified Buongiornos model that includes the discussions related to slip mechanisms and volumetric analysis in terms of the weight of the nanoparticle. The model is in the form of partial differential equations and is later converted to ordinary differential equations with the assistance of similarity transformation. This set of equations is solved by the Differential Transformation Method (DTM) and the outcomes are discussed through graphs.,. 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.</text>

<text>The core component of the Soft Computing (SC) domain gives outstanding performances for solving problems compared to other problems solving techniques. In order to solve difficult problems, the majority of researchers are concentrating on the soft computing field. The sub-domains of the soft computing field include Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy Logic, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, and others. In this paper, we aimed to investigate the contributions made by Indian organizations and authors on the topic of soft computing and its applications for the years 1999 to 2018 for the Scopus database. The study confirmed that the most number of papers published in the neural network with a count of 2127 and the most productive author was M.ChintamaniDeo, with 22 papers with the highest h-index and the Indian Institute of Technology, The most productive institution in the subject of Soft Computing is Roorkee, which has contributed 109 publications overall, garnered 355 citations, and has an h-index of 9. This led us to the conclusion that, in comparison to other sub-domains in the field of Soft Computing and its Applications, Indian Institutions and Indian Authors have produced the majority of publications in Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence. 2024, Ismail Saritas. <text>This work presents the synthesis of the new bent-core polymers with siloxane units connected to the one side of azobenzene units. The structure of siloxane-based azobenzene bent-core polymers, 7ac, was elucidated by spectral analysis (nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy). The results of gel permeation chromatography suggested that all polymers (7ac) showed polydisperse (polydispersity index >1). Besides, the extent of polymerization in the following order: 7a > 7b > 7c, where the degree of polymerization values were 7, 8 and 11, respectively. Polarizing optical microscopy revealed that the bent-core liquid crystal (BCLC) monomers, 6a and 6b, displayed the smectic A phase, whereas BCLC monomer 6c and all siloxane-based main-chain polymers (MCPs) (7ac) were crystalline in nature. The result of ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy demonstrated that all MCPs (7ac) exhibited strong photoisomerization behavior in solution. All polymers (7ac) showed trans to cis isomerization in about 200 s, whereas the reverse process required much longer times ranging from 400 to 520 min in solution. The photo-switching study on azobenzene containing polymers stated that the effect of alkyl chain length and type of central core units on trans to cis isomerization were negligible. In contrast, both parameters influence the cis to trans process in which the photo-switching behavior of these materials may be primarily suitably exploited in the field of photo-induced phenomenon. 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.</text>

<text>A crucial part of a Speech Recognition System (SRS) is working on its most fundamental modules with the latest technology. While the fundamentals provide basic insights into the system, the recent technologies used on it would provide more ways of exploring and exploiting the fundamentals to upgrade the system itself. These upgrades end up in finding more specific ways to enhance the scope of SRS. Algorithms like the Hidden Markov Model (HMM), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), the hybrid versions of HMM and ANN, Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and many similar are used in accomplishing high performance in SRS systems. Considering the domain of application of SRS, the algorithm selection criteria play a critical role in enhancing the performance of SRS. The algorithm chosen for SRS should finally work in hand with the language model conformed to the natural language constraints. Each language model follows a variety of methods according to the application domain. Hybrid constraints are considered in the case of geography-specific dialects. 2024 by author(s).</text>

<text>Various technological and application challenges arise in the advancement of Internet of Things. Apart from Design and Deployment, Security also falls as a primary challenge to overcome. Device Management is becoming more complex as numerous network services to be handled. Inter-device communication for technical aspects appears to be underappreciated. There is a critical necessity to include this area's requirements and challenges. By abstracting data models and operations and expressing them using semantics, M2Mcommunication and interoperability and may be made simple. A thorough investigation of the foregoing is preparing the way for various approaches. Along with Semantics, a high-level language construct is suggested that can enable run-time workflow construction. Things Markup Language is the name of the concept (TML). 2024, Ismail Saritas. <text>Ternary nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide/multi-walled carbon nanotubes/cobalt oxide nanoparticles (rGO/MWCNT/Co3O4) were synthesized employing a facile hydrolysis method with subsequent heat treatment. The good electrical conductivity and remarkable carrier mobility of rGO and MWCNTs make them a suitable matrix for hybrid supercapacitors, and their composites with metal oxides exhibit enhanced electrochemical properties due to the advantages of the synergistic contribution and the integration of different dimensionalities. The binary counterparts of Co3O4 with GO or MWCNTs were also produced using the same technique to gain additional insight into the characteristics of the individual components. The structural and morphological properties of the composites were analyzed using various analytical techniques. The electrochemical behaviors of the prepared composites were investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic chargedischarge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 1 M H2SO4. A platinum electrode modified with the rGO/MWCNT/Co3O4 composite displayed a remarkable specific capacitance of 922 F g?1 at a current density of 1 A g?1 composite with a negligible capacitance drop after 2000 cycles. The symmetric supercapacitor fabricated using the rGO/MWCNT/Co3O4 composite showed an energy density of 32.2 Wh Kg?1 at 1 A g?1, and the corresponding power density was 2000 W Kg?1. The supercapacitor fabricated using the composite displayed 83% capacitance retention after 2000 cycles at 3 A g?1 composite. 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.</text>

<text>Bioconvection is a fascinating phenomenon observed in various biological systems, where the motion of motile microorganisms generates fluid flow patterns. This article explores the occurrence and characteristics of bioconvection within the context of a jet flow. The study of bioconvection in jet flow involves the interaction between motile microorganisms and the fluid dynamics of the surrounding medium. Microorganisms such as bacteria and algae are known to exhibit directed swimming behavior, which can lead to the formation of dynamic flow structures. Investigating the mechanisms underlying bioconvection in jet flow requires a multidisciplinary approach encompassing fluid dynamics, microbial ecology, and mathematical modeling. Experimental techniques, such as microscopy and particle image velocimetry, along with computational simulations, are employed to analyze the complex interactions between microorganisms and the fluid flow. In this regard, a supportive mathematical model is designed using partial differential equations (PDEs) which are later transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The resulting system of equations is solved using the RKF-45 method and the outcomes are recorded in tables and graphs. The consideration of thermophoresis has shown a significant impact on the heat and mass transfer of the jet flow and both these profiles are observed to increase with thermophoresis. Meanwhile, the Schmidt number decrease their respective mass profiles. Furthermore, the porosity is found to create a drag force which tends to oppose the fluid flow. 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.</text>

<text>In our present study we focus on characterizing copper oxide (CuO) thin films synthesized at various substrate temperatures and to assess the electrochemical performance of the optimized sample. The spray pyrolysis method was used to fabricate CuO thin film samples, with the substrate temperatures ranging from 250 to 400C. The coatings underwent characterization through different analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and Hall effect measurements. All the thin film samples were confirmed to have a monoclinic phase. The presence of Cu=O was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. All the samples exhibited P type conductivity except the one synthesized at 400C. Galvanostatic chargedischarge studies revealed a pseudocapacitive nature for the optimized sample synthesized at 350C. The symmetrical charging and discharging curves imply excellent material reversibility, indicating long-term cyclic stability. The Nyquist plot exhibited a semicircle at high frequencies, representing the materials intrinsic resistance and a linear behavior at low frequencies, depicting the ion transfer resistance. The electrode demonstrated favorable electrochemical properties and potential use of the material in supercapacitor applications. 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.</text>

<text>Extended Virtual Reality has expanded its wings to almost each and every sector enabling immersive experience in various fields and has found applications in gamification, learning, healthcare, etc. This technology has aided in providing solutions to various problems in different fields, and healthcare is the most prominent one among them. Children suffering from ASD which is a developmental disorder affecting the brain that impacts how a person perceives external responses, are finding it increasingly difficult to get treated as the treatment methods are tedious. There are very few methods which are regarded as standardized means of treating autistic children but there are a few common traits that can be found in children affected by ASD which can be grouped under three common categories. They are lack of communication skills, lack of basic mathematical knowledge and low levels of remembrance. With the help of Gamification, which provides therapy by means of games to those affected, the kids affected by ASD can be treated, powered by the concept of Extended Virtual Reality. In this paper, we have developed a model to provide autistic children a real world experience of playing games which will help them in enhancing their skills without any external interferences. Children who play these Extended Virtual Reality based games show gradual improvement, for which the results can be facilitated with the help of a Linear Regression model, helping us predict future response times. The proposed model results in enhancement of memory levels of the kids as a result of the game and classifies kids based on their enhancement in memory into high, medium and low. The mean absolute error of the linear regression model is found to be 0.0394. 2024, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to The Society for Reliability Engineering, Quality and Operations Management (SREQOM), India and The Division of Operation and Maintenance, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden.</text>

<text>The green synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) has garnered considerable attention from researchers due to its utilization of eco-friendly solvents during synthesis and cost-effective approaches. This study focuses on the synthesis of titanium oxide (TiO2) and dopamine (DA) carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-doped TiO2 (DA/CMC/TiO2) NP using Psidium guajava leaf extract, while also investigating the structural, optical, and morphological and biocidal potential of the prepared NPs. Significantly larger zones of inhibition were observed for DA/CMC/TiO2 NPs compared to TiO2 against various pathogens. Moreover, the MTT assay was carried out to evaluate the anticancer activity of the prepared samples against MG-63 cells, and the results revealed that DA/CMC/TiO2 NPs exhibited significantly higher level of anticancer activity compared to TiO2. The experimental results demonstrated that DA/CMC/TiO2 NPs exhibited enhanced anticancer activity in a dose-dependent manner when compared to TiO2 NPs. 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.</text>
