The purpose of this study was to examine the dynamics of trade between India and the BRICS countries as well as to gauge the relative strength of Indian exports to those nations. The trade integration patterns among BRICS countries were also analyzed. To quantify the extent to which India's exports correspond to the needs of its BRICS counterparts, a novel export aspiration index was constructed. The index of trade integration patterns has also been employed to quantify India's trade integration pattern with other BRICS members. Further, the gravity model of trade has been employed to analyze the fundamentals of India-BRICS trade. The export aspiration in individual BRICS countries shows a diverse pattern. However, India's export aspiration in these countries has improved, although marginally in the long run. Such empirical evidence substantiates that the relative strength of India's exports within its BRICS counterparts has marginally improved over time. Moreover, the trade integration index indicates a similar trade integration pattern among the BRICS countries and corroborates the presence of inter-industry trade. Added to the conventional variables of the gravity model, India's outward multilateral trade resistance and BRICS inward multilateral trade resistance significantly promote India-BRICS trade. Hence, the relative strength of Indian exports will increase substantially if India's commodity composition is diversified by including more commodities in its export baskets that correspond to the needs and changing conditions of the BRICS economies. In the modern world, cataracts are the predominant cause of blindness. Early treatment and detection can reduce the number of cataract patients and prevent surgery. However, cataract grade classification is necessary to control risk and avoid blindness. Previously, various studies focused on developing a system to detect cataract type and grade. However, the existing works on cataract detection does not provide optimal results because of high detection error, lack of learning ability, computational complexity issues, etc. Therefore, the proposed work aims to develop an effective deep learning techniques for detecting and classifying cataracts from the given input samples. Here, the cataract detection and classification are performed using two phases. In order to provide an accurate cataract detection, the proposed study introduced Deep Optimized Convolutional Recurrent Network_Improved Aquila Optimization (Deep OCRN_IAO) model in phase I. Here, both retinal and slit lamp images are utilized for cataract detection. Then, the performance of these two image datasets are analysed, and the best one is chosen for cataract type and grade classification. By analysing the performance, the slit lamp images attain higher results. Therefore, phase II uses slit lamp images and detects the type and grade of cataracts through the proposed Batch Equivalence ResNet-101 (BE_ResNet101) model. The proposed classification model is highly efficient to classify the type and grades of cataracts. The experimental setup is done using MATLAB software, and the datasets used for simulation purposes are DRIMDB (Diabetic Retinopathy Images Database) and real-time slit lamp images. The proposed type and grade detection model has an accuracy of 98.87%, specificity of 99.66%, the sensitivity of 98.28%, Youden index of 95.04%, Kappa of 97.83%, and F1-score is 95.68%. Relationship between financial stress and financial well-being of micro and small business owners: Evidence from India

Micro and small businesses financially suffered due to COVID-19 in India. This financial suffering created financial stress among them and deteriorated their financial well-being. However, micro and small business owners exhibit financial resilience by bouncing back to regular business activities through their hope, optimism, and selfefficacy, which are the components of positive psychological capital. This study analyzes the relationship between financial stress and financial well-being of micro and small firm owners keeping financial resilience as a mediator and positive psychological capital as a moderator in the mediation. This descriptive analysis employed a survey method to collect primary data using the interview method. The interview method was used as most micro and small business owners are comfortable with interaction rather than filling out the questionnaires due to the language barrier. The sample size is 384 respondents, as per Krejcie and Morgan's formula. The mean scores indicate a moderate degree of financial stress (2.354), financial resilience (2.623), and financial well-being (2.637). The level of financial stress differs based on the respondents' gender. Financial stress is more among female business owners (2.504) than their male counterparts (2.265). Further, business owners who earn more have a higher level of financial resilience (2.985), psychological capital (2.951), and financial well-being (2.711). Financial stress significantly impacts financial well-being (28.4%). Financial resilience has a partial mediation effect (65%) on financial stress and financial well-being. Finally, psychological capital moderates indirect relationships among financial stress, financial resilience, and financial well-being. Segmentation of abnormal masses in kidney images is a tough task. One of the main challenges is the presence of speckle noise, which will restrain the valuable information for the medical practitioners. Hence, the detection and segmentation of the affected regions vary in accuracies. The proposed model includes pre-processing and segmentation of the diseased region. The pre-processing consists of Gaussian filtering and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLHE) to improve the clarity of the images. Further, segmentation has been done based on the entropy of the image and gamma correction has been done to improve the overall brightness of the images. An optimal global threshold value is selected to extract the region of interest and measures the area. The model is analyzed with statistical parameters like Jaccard index and Dice coefficient and compared with the ground truth images. To check the accuracy of the segmentation, relative error is calculated. This framework can be used by radiologists in diagnosing kidney patients. 2022, International Journal of Computing. In the current study, the bioconvective flow of ReeEyring through an expanding sheet with the porous medium is analyzed by considering the inclined magnetic field and gyrotactic microorganisms. Buongiorno's model, which defines the two major mechanisms; thermophoresis and Brownian motion is used to frame the mathematical model. The presence of motile cells helps in stabilizing the nanoparticle and avoids the sedimentation due to nanoparticles. The mathematical model with these assumptions is framed using partial differential equations (PDE) that are later remodeled to ordinary nonlinear differential equations by incorporating desirable similarity transformation. The equations so obtained shall be solved using DTM and the outcomes are described through graphs and tables. The graphs indicated that the velocity of the nanofluid flow reduces with the increase in the porosity and similarly, the higher values of Peclet number (Pe) are found to diminish the motile density. Evolution of agent-based technology presents behavioral learning and sustainable negotiation challenges in e-commerce applications. In particular, the challenge of designing the negotiation strategy to incorporate sustainability in e-commerce business that can leverage the agent to reach its objectives by increasing the negotiation coordination and cooperation with the opponent agents. Therefore, the proposed research introduces the negotiation strategy sustainable solution using a cognitive fuzzy-based behavioral learning system which can change the preferences of negotiating agents according to human psychological characteristics. It will mimic the attitudes of human risk, patience and regret during the course of bilateral negotiation and also change the preference structures according to the fuzzy logic rules. As a result, the proposed negotiation strategy makes significant improvements on various parameters such as utility value, success rate, total negotiation time, and communication overhead while changing the negotiation rounds from 50 to 500. Since this system leverages the negotiation strategy of the agent by taking appropriate decisions to reach better agreement based on the interest, belief and psychological characteristics of negotiating opponents. Electronic development is the process of systematic evolution for mankind and society at large that ensures the overall progress of the electronic mode of learning, education, healthcare, society, and corporate governance. The main objective of the chapter was to address the impacts of e-development and sustainable management education for effective leadership that leads to constructing a sustainable society. The required data were collected both from primary and secondary sources. Primary data were collected from 120 respondents. The secondary data sources included official websites. The study is empirical and various statistical tools like mean, standard deviation, and t-test were executed for data analysis. The results of the research study were indicated the high degree and low degree of contribution from e-development and sustainable management education are not significant between effective leadership and sustainable society. E-development can be effective for creating a sustainable society with the goal setting of improving effective leadership skills. Copyright 2022, IGI Global.

Automatic character recognition for the handwritten Indic script is a challenging area for research in the field of pattern recognition. Although a great amount of research work has been reported, all the state-of-the-art methods are limited with optimal features. This article aims to suggest a well-defined recognition model which harnessed upon handwritten Odia characters and numerals by implementing a novel process of decomposition in terms of 3rd level fast discrete curvelet transform (FDCT) to get higher dimension feature vector. After that, kernel-principal component analysis (K-PCA) is considered to obtain optimal features from FDCT feature. Finally, the classification is performed by using probabilistic neural network (PNN) on a handwritten Odia character and numeral dataset from both NIT Rourkela and IIT Bhubaneswar. The outcome of the proposed scheme performs better compared to existing models with optimized Gaussian kernel-based feature sets. Copyright 2022, IGI Global.

The selection of an algorithm to tackle a certain problem is a vital undertaking that necessitates both time and knowledge. Non-functional needs, such as the size, quality, and nature of the data, must frequently be taken into account. To develop a generalized machine learning model for any domain, the most relevant features must be chosen because noisy and irrelevant characteristics degrade data mining performance. However, the selection of the dominating features is still dependent on the search technique. When there are a high number of input features, stochastic optimization can be applied to the search space. In this research, the authors investigate the ant lion optimization (ALO), a natureinspired algorithm that mimics the hunting process of ant lions and is further stimulated to identify the smallest reducts. They also investigate rough set-based ant lion optimizer for feature selection. The actual results reveal that the ant lion-based rough set reduct selects a better feature subset and classifies them more accurately. 2022 Information Resources Management Association. Wildlife resorts are one of the most prominent and attractive segments of the accommodation sector. They face many socio-economic and environmental challenges to implement sustainable tourism practices in their daily operations. This study aims at investigating whether there is any relationship between socio-economic and environmental issues, and challenges faced by wildlife resorts in implementing sustainable tourism practices, and the indicators used by the resorts to measure their sustainable tourism practices. The study employs triangulation design to conduct the research. Survey method was employed for identifying the sustainable tourism indicators and personal interviews with resort managers were conducted to identify the operational issues and challenges of wildlife resorts for the implementation of sustainable practices. Based on purposive sampling, sixteen wildlife resorts from the Indian state of Karnataka are selected for the study. Dedoose software is used to conduct mixed method analysis, to compare and analyse the data obtained from both qualitative and quantitative methods. Copyright 2022, IGI Global.

World Happiness Index generally indicates the level of happiness and satisfaction among the residents in a given country. Since we all know that worldwide new ecosystem of online education has evolved there are many countries which have done pretty well with respect to adopting of technology in the education others have been lacking behind and hence causing more inequality in the online education space. To understand the students' perception and satisfaction regarding the online learning this study was conducted to assess the relationships of the happiness index (HI) and related parameters which were retrieved from existing literatures and self-prepared parameters. Accordingly, the world happiness index signifies a direct relationship with the social economic development factors leading to the general well-being of individuals and societies that include the full development of healthcare, politics, and higher employment. The question arises has the online learning lived up to its potential? The Indian Education System is heterogeneous comprising of private and public universities. The study was on conducted in the National Capital Region of India, (NCR). The data was collected from various types of universities' students irrespective of the gender, caste, creed and religion. The study aims to understand the perception of the students and challenges faced by them during the online learning. It is very important to know the views of the students along with teachers to get the true ground reality of online learning in India. Since the pandemic have hit overall the world education sector was hit too. All the educational institutions were closed for about nearly 1.5 years. There was drastic shift in the paradigm from traditional learning to the online learning. To understand the students' perception data is being collected from around 268 students of the Delhi NCR region. The study is quantitative. The questionnaire was distributed to the both Government and Private Universities to understand students' satisfaction regarding online learning. The data was being analyzed in the graph form. The firm size and value anomalies are the global-level counterpart for explaining the cross-sectional variations of equity returns. This paper aims to examine the size, value effects and explanatory power of three well-known pricing models - CAPM, three-and five-factor- across and within 15 Indian industries. The study considers all firms listed on Indian largest stock exchange, BSE (Bombay stock exchange), between 1999-2021 by developing portfolios using firm size/value, size/investment and size/profitability risk characteristics. The study employs both univariate and multivariate methods, including time series, GRS statistics, and cross-sectional models within and across industries portfolios. Results indicated that size and value effects exist in almost all industries, presenting that size and value anomalies are the most prominent determinants for industry-level equity returns. In addition, the profitability and investment effects were also investigated; however, the results are mixed from industry to industry. In the case of the explanatory power of pricing models, the five-factor performs much better within and across industry portfolios than other pricing models; however, the models' effectiveness varies by industry. We also reported that investors who seek to allocate funds within and across industries tend to be expected reasonably stable returns and conceivably predictable; the findings of this study contribute to the existing literature on asset pricing and portfolio management in emerging markets. This article attempts to explain how far MGNREGS provides social protection for marginal and disadvantaged sections. To study this, the present paper focuses on backward regions that are in dire need of government support through welfare measures. The bottom sections of society should be given priority while implementing different social welfare schemes like employment guarantee, food security, pensions, scholarships, etc. In this context, this article aims at analysing the role of MGNREGS in providing social protection for different sections of society. The role of MGNREGS can be understood through employment and income generated by the households participated. How many rural households depend on MGNREGS for employment? How much employment was generated under MGNREGS in the backward regions? What is the contribution of MGNREGS to the household income? To what extent is MGNREGS providing social protection to the rural poor compared to other welfare schemes? In this paper, a compact, single port, multimode reconfigurable UWB-NB antenna with a novel feeding network is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a pentagonal-shaped monopole radiator, a beveled-shaped partial defected ground plane with a rectangular slot, and a reconfigurable bypass feeding network. The antenna realizes a wideband frequency range from 2.4 to 18 GHz and four narrow band frequency ranges, 5.3 to 6.8 GHz, 6.0 to 7.6 GHz, 7.2 to 8.8 GHz and 8.4 to 11.4 GHz. The antenna provides an omnidirectional radiation pattern with gain from 2.2 to 6.2 dBi maximum at 12 GHz and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) ranges from 1 to 2. The fabricated antenna has an overall dimension of 181.6 mm3. Sensing and tuning ranges of the fabricated antenna shows good agreement with the simulation results. The proposed antenna has an advantage of simple design, low profile, single port excitation and omnidirectional radiation pattern making it suitable for applications such as handheld mobile cognitive radio systems. 2022 SBMO/SBMag

This research attempts to analyze to what extent knowledge and tactics or enduring personality traits predict investor behaviour and cognitive biases in portfolio investment. This study is based on exploring a wide-ranging dataset: responses to a questionnaire survey together with transactional data of the same individual customers of an Indian stock company. From the questionnaire survey, the authors estimate measures of domain-general personality traits, such as the big five, as compared to the knowledge, financial literacy, competency, and attitude specific to investor equity trading. The results show the dominance of knowledge and tactics measures over personality-related measures when predicting nine different dependent variables of investment performance, investor cognitive biases, and portfolio investment activity. This research concludes with the discussion of the findings and with insights into theory and managerial implications. Copyright 2022, IGI Global.

After-school programmes (ASPs) help to facilitate students learning. DREAMS ASP facilitates schoolchildren with holistic development interventions at different locations. Due to the pandemic, DREAMS conducted their ASP in the online mode. The present study aims to narrate the case of ASP in the virtual mode and discuss participants experiences on holistic development at one of its locations. The study employed qualitative study designs. The sample of the study included participants from DREAMS ASP site at Kerala, India. The study interviewed four mentors, seven participants, and their parents to understand participants holistic development. However, the study excluded physical and spiritual aspects of holistic development. It found that the virtual DREAMS ASP was joyful, and there was a significant, positive change in all the selected dimensions of holistic development as reported by mentors, children, and parents. The study encourages future researchers to provide opportunities and frameworks to conduct more ASPs in India. 2022 IGI Global. All rights reserved.

Purpose The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the consumption patterns of people the world over. The patterns and trends of consumption that drive markets were no longer relevant during the pandemic. Newer factors drove the consumption decisions and consumers have changed their patterns. COVID pandemic enforced citizens globally to adopt minimalism. This research is aimed at qualitatively understanding the consumer experiences during the lockdown period and their future orientation towards a minimalist lifestyle. Method Participants were young adults of 18 to 25 years of age from India. A constructivist paradigm was adopted to understand the subjective meaning of their choices. Data was collected through Focused group discussions and content analysis was used to arrive at the themes. Findings Data revealed that priority was given to buying essential items during times of crisis. Stockpiling, conscious buying and simple living were the cornerstones of the consumption patterns. Practical implications Findings have implications for sustainable consumption practices with a minimalist approach. Understanding the future orientation of consumers towards adopting a minimalist lifestyle could help market researchers better understand sustainable consumption patterns, thereby helping them in tailoring their product marketing. The far-reaching implications of the results focus on green consumption values and ecological responsibility. Value This paper seeks to explore attitudes and beliefs on sustainable consumption in a young adult population during the Covid-19 outbreak and has implications for sustainable consumption practices using a minimalistic approach in the future. 2022 RESTORATIVE JUSTICE FOR ALL.

The impact of ESG inclusion on price, liquidity and financial performance of Indian stocks: Evidence from stocks listed in BSE and NSE ESG indices

In recent years, investors have perceived that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices significantly increase the value of companies' stocks. This study investigates the impact of ESG inclusion on the price, liquidity and financial performance of stocks listed in the Indian ESG indices. Two major Indian benchmark ESG Indices, the BSE100 ESG and Nifty 100 ESG, were considered for the study. A total sample of 64 firms from the BSE100 ESG index and 86 firms from the Nifty100 ESG index were selected. The market model of the event study methodology was employed to measure AAR and CAAR and to demonstrate the effect before and after the inclusion of the stocks in the ESG indices. The empirical results show a highly significant negative AAR on the announcement day, i.e., on (day = 0) for BSE100 ESG index stocks and an insignificant positive AAR for Nifty100 ESG index stocks. In addition, the results also document a significant negative CAAR for BSE 100 ESG stocks and a positive insignificant CAAR for Nifty100 ESG stocks. Moreover, the liquidity test results revealed a considerable liquidity enhancement in the stocks posts their inclusion in the BSE100 ESG. At the same time, there were no significant changes in the liquidity ratio of stocks after being included in the Nifty100 ESG index. This study concludes that there will be a substantial improvement in the companies' financial performance as indicated by EPS and market capitalization after their inclusion in the ESG indices.
