<text>For centuries the relation between mind and nature has been represented through literature, songs and cultural traditions. However with increasing urgency of the climate crisis and the corresponding growing distance between humans and nature, we find very limited scientific work exploring their relationship, which could perhaps help re-bridge the connection between the two. A significant, yet not directly observable, and often overlooked impact of the climate crisis is its impact on mental health. This study looks at this relationship in the Indian context, through a relatively unexplored perspective, by investigating the effects of nature connectedness (NC), pro-nature conservation behaviours (ProCoB) and geographical green cover (GGC) on mental health (MH) among middle-aged adults residing in India, and the existing inter-relationships. 180 middle-aged Indian adults, selected through purposive and snowball sampling, from across 21 states and 2 Union Territories (UTs), were administered questionnaires through a Google form. Their data was collected and scored, and the GGC was calculated for each state/ UT from the India State of Forest Report 2021. Correlation and Regression analysis were conducted on the scores using SPSS. A positive and statistically significant correlation exists between the variables NC, ProCoB and MH; NC, MH and GGC; and NC and ProCoB. NC and ProCoB predict MH. Gardening also predicts MH. The findings are new and contribute to the field of Environmental Psychology. It provides a scientific basis for the often romanticized relationship between man and nature as found in literature. It has great implications for the future, such as increasing awareness and understanding, and planning interventions to improve both environment and wellbeing. 2024 selection and editorial matter, Dr. Sundeep Katevarapu, Dr. Anand Pratap Singh, Dr. Priyanka Tiwari, Ms. Akriti Varshney, Ms. Priya Lanka, Ms. Aankur Pradhan, Dr. Neeraj Panwar, Dr. Kumud Sapru Wangnue; individual chapters, the contributors.</text>

The authors examine a variety of passive and active strategies, as well as their success in different crises. However, while choosing the best of strategies in the worst of circumstances, investors must be cautious in defining 'best.' It's critical to comprehend not only the long-term performance but also the whole cost of putting various preventive measures in place. The authors analyse popular strategies like technical analysis, fundamental analysis, relying on financial news, seeking professional advice, tips from trade experts, and self-intuition while making portfolios. Our findings indicate that every investment is unique. Some defensive methods will be more effective than others in each case. As a result, diversification across several viable strategies may be the wisest course of action. 2023, IGI Global. All rights reserved.</text>

<text>Mathematics learning is an integral part of the school curriculum. Children learn basic concepts in mathematics and then gradually reach the abstract level. Challenges in
mathematics learning are largely observed after grade seven. Students may show disinterest towards the subject due to several reasons including past learning
experiences, teacher-student interaction (TSI), anxiety and self-efficacy levels. If the students cannot connect what they learn, it impacts their interaction in the classroom,
and it acts as a reason for losing interest. The literature review reveals the importance of mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy, and utility value and contribute to the construct of
mind-set. Student engagement is influenced by mind-set in mathematics learning and TSI, and predicts achievement and wellbeing. The study adopts a mixed-method design
with the qualitative study aiming to support the quantitative study and strengthen the validity of the results. The quantitative study sample consists of 774 eighth graders
from various English medium schools in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The qualitative phase seeks to determine the students' perception of mathematics learning through their
classroom experiences among 17 students using semi-structured interviews. The tested conceptual model shows an excellent fit. It shows mind-set in mathematics affects TSI,
influences student engagement and leads to student-wellbeing. There was no indirect effect for the achievement and other variables. The findings related to the open-ended
questions indicate the importance of teachers and content. There is a lack of understanding among students about the practical application of the learning content.
The thematic analysis results provided five main themes: student attributes, teacher attributes, classroom environment, content-related and utility value. Integration of the
findings leads to the importance of TSI and student engagement in the mathematics classroom. Also, the connection between variables related to mathematics learning and
student wellbeing. The results of the study have important implications for developing engaging pedagogies.</text>

<text>In the ever-evolving landscape of fashion industry, the pursuit of sustainability and mindful consumption has emerged as an imperative. This study presents an innovative and integrated framework that amalgamates the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach. This comprehensive framework explores the dynamic interplay between Sustainable Mindfulness (SM), Product Value Retention (PVR), Brand Loyalty (BL) and Circular Practices (CP) in the fashion domain. The study underscores Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the theoretical foundation, shedding light on how attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control shape SM and, subsequently, PVR. This study explores into the multidimensional aspects of sustainable fashion, enabling a holistic understanding of the nuanced relationships between PVR strategies, and sustainable consumption attitudes. The study sets the stage for a more harmonious coexistence between style and sustainability, charting a course for the fashion industry that values mindfulness, longevity, and environmental responsibility. The findings offer actionable insights for fashion managers, emphasizing strategic approaches to enhance sustainability, consumer awareness, and circular initiatives in the industry. This study not only advances theoretical discourse but also offers actionable insights for fashion brands and policymakers aiming to foster SM among diverse consumer segments. It sets the stage for a more harmonious coexistence between style and sustainability, charting a course for the fashion industry that values mindfulness, longevity, and environmental responsibility. 2024 Elsevier Ltd</text>

<text>This chapter explores the intricate interplay between social cognitive processing and mindfulness, highlighting their reciprocal relationship. Present-moment awareness defines mindfulness, which influences and is influenced by social interactions. It promotes prosocial behaviour, compassion, and empathy by enhancing social cognition. The symbiotic relationship also impacts individuals, cultivating a harmonious sense of self. The multifunctionality of mindfulness is apparent in various contexts, as it provides benefits such as reduced tension and enhanced team relations. Longitudinal studies underscore the enduring positive effects, emphasizing improved well-being over time. The potential of mindfulness to affect positive social change is considerable, as it can foster a society that is more interconnected, empathetic, and mindful of social issues. 2024, IGI Global.</text>

<text>Psychological well-being of school teachers is vital for healthy student engagement and a conducive classroom environment. This study sought to understand the role of mindfulness and emotional intelligence in the newlinepsychological well-being of school teachers. It was conducted in two phases. The first phase, through the survey method, sought to establish the relationship between mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and newlinepsychological well-being of school teachers. 125 female school teachers from Bangalore, India, drawn through convenience sampling, were surveyed. The tools used were the Five Facets of Mindfulness Questionnaire, Assessing Emotions Scale, Scales of Psychological WellBeing, and demographic details sheet. Results revealed positive and newlinemoderate to strong associations between the variables (r = 0.38 to 0.65). Moreover, mindfulness and emotional intelligence explained 45% of the variance in psychological well-being, as opposed to 42% by mindfulness alone. The second phase was a pre and post-experimental study. After random assignment to study (N = 19) and comparison (N = 29) groups, the study group underwent a seven-session mindfulness-based emotional newlineintelligence intervention through an online platform. The participants were assessed on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and psychological well-being before and after the intervention. Results revealed that emotional intelligence showed a significantly increased post-intervention, but mindfulness and psychological well-being did not.</text>

<text>This chapter examines mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) in Western and Indian psychology. It begins with a summary of MBIs, their historical origins, and their theoretical frameworks. The empirical evidence then examines the efficacy of MBIs, emphasizing their impact on both Western and Indian psychology. It probes deeper into the specific applications of MBIs in each cultural context, focusing on adapting mindfulness practices to accommodate cultural differences. Case studies demonstrate the efficacy of MBIs in reducing anxiety, depression, and work-related stress. The significance of cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness, in addition to the implications of MBIs for psychological practice and future research directions, is discussed. It highlights the significance of MBI and provides recommendations for future advancements. It provides an overview of the applications of MBIs, emphasizing their potential to improve well-being, reduce psychological distress, and promote a more inclusive approach to psychological practice. 2024, IGI Global. <text>Addiction is of varied types and over the years the focus has not only been on the growing issues of addiction but also on how to prevent relapse on recovering clients. According to Buddhist teaching craving is the cause of suffering and suffering festers itself due to attachment. Once an individual is enlightened he will be able to find a path that ceases such suffering. Mindfulness helps bring about such enlightenment through being conscious and reflective of every moments experience. Mindfulness does not stop at being aware alone but extends its teaching to accepting such experiences as they are and letting go. Relapse prevention has long been researched on and new therapies developed to facilitate the same. This conceptual paper looks at how Mindfulness-based relapse prevention therapy works to prevent relapses. <text>This review set out to provide empirical literature on mindfulness-based strengths practice (MBSP), a new approach in positive psychology that integrates mindfulness with character strengths, two positive predictors of well-being. First, the conceptualization of integrating character strengths and mindfulness into MBSP is discussed. The literature on the interrelatedness of character strengths and mindfulness is then described, along with ways that the intervention of MBSP encourages positive outcomes at various levels. The literature search returned 7 (10 samples, N = 3,851) studies supporting a positive association between character strengths and mindfulness (r = 0.30.4) and the mediating role of character strengths/virtues in mindfulness and mindfulnesss role in enhancing character strengths toward psychological well-being. The nine MBSP intervention studies (9 samples, N = 354) conducted in diverse contexts provide evidence of a significant improvement in well-being, engagement, life satisfaction, mindfulness, positive affect, character strengths, work-related outcomes, heightened birthing parents well-being during pregnancy and childbirth, increased academic performance, and enhanced mental health among students. The intervention studies also reported the fostering of mindful positive parenting and contributions to a significant reduction in negative psychological states, such as stress, depression, anxiety, and negative affect. This comprehensive review provides empirical support for the MBSP framework and its positive impact on well-being across various domains, including organizations, education, healthcare, and family. However, it underscores the need for more extensive research, as the current literature on MBSP is limited. The review encourages future studies to explore MBSP applications in diverse domains, thereby paving the way for a deeper understanding of its potential benefits. 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.</text>

<text>We have progressed to a phase where there is very little difference between men and women, but the reality in many countries is that women are looked down as the inferior gender and not given career opportunities to explore. They are not let into the decision-making roles at the organization even when they have an equal qualification, experience and skill. They are placed low in the hierarchy which allows them to witness the functions at the higher level of the organization but restricts them from participating in them. There are a lot of factors like cultural, socio-demographic factors and society itself that influence this disparity in the organization. These contributory factors create the glass ceiling phenomenon at the workplace, thereby generating emotional and psychological imbalances in women employees. This is a conceptual paper aiming to explore the concept and impact of mindfulness, and various concepts of mindfulness could be used as an emotional aid to treat the psychological effects of the glass ceiling. It further explains some of the mindful concepts like mindful walking, mindful life and mindfulness-based stress reduction technique in treating some of the psychological and emotional issues like depression, anxiety, frustration, traumatic experiences, adjustment issues, addiction, stress, low self-esteem, low self-confidence and aggression. It also elucidates adopting mindfulness techniques in real organizational scenarios where women are constantly discriminated because of their gender and opportunities are taken away. 2021 The Author(s). <text>Utilization of mine wastes as a building material in the construction industry surmises to environmental and sustainable concepts in civil engineering. The potential environmental threat posed by mining wastes, as well as a growing societal awareness of the need to effectively treat mining wastes, has elevated the subject importance. The present research proposes a method of producing bricks that is both cost effective and environmentally benign. The research is based on the geopolymerization, known to save energy by obviating high-temperature kiln firing and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The methodology encompasses the mixing of red mud and iron ore tailings in the range of 90% to 50% with a decrement of 10% with GGBS in the range of 10% to 50% with an increment of 10%. The raw materials and the developed composites have been tested as per Indian and ASTM standards. In addition to tests pertaining to the physical and mechanical properties, XRF, XRD, and SEM tests have been performed for examining various related issues. Based on the result analysis, the compressive strength values showed noticeable differences in case of IOT and red mud bricks with IOT-based bricks showing better compressive strengths. 2021 M. <text>The rapid advancement and growth in the wireless technology demands miniaturized communication equipment's. Microstrip antennas attracted many researchers over the past decades because of its various features like small in size, light weight, low cost and conformability. These antennas can operate at high frequencies and multiple bands with high gain and larger bandwidths if suitably designed. This work presents a Rectangular Microstrip Antenna (RMSA)performance improvement using defected Ground Structures (DGS). The simulation results revealed that the creation of Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR)and Phi as a defect in the ground of proposed antenna has improved its gain. Introduction of DGS improved the gain by 27% and reduced the size by approximately 3.35%. Proposed Rectangular Microstrip Antenna with Defected Ground (RMSA-DGS)exhibits gain of 3 dB at 2.4 GHz with S11 response of -30.44 dB. In addition to this the antenna also shows one more resonance at 4.66 GHz with S11 of -14.29 dB and gain of -1.24 dB. RMSA-DGS has an overall dimension of 37.2 47.23 mm2. 2019 IEEE.</text>

<text>In this paper, miniaturized 7.45 GHz resonant frequency band stop frequency selective surface (FSS) is designed. The unit cell dimensions of designed FSS is only about 0.1?0 at the 7.45 GHz. Proposed design involves a crossed dipole metallic element together with meander shape on the substrate. Simulation results provide about 800 MHz bandwidth (7.1 GHz-7.9 GHz) with-20 dB insertion loss. The FSS properties are studied on a unit cell using electromagnetic (EM) solver to observe the characteristics. Proposed FSS demonstrates a stable resonance frequency behavior for the arbitrary angle of incidences in both the polarizations such as TM and TE modes. Thus, the design holds a polarization independent characteristic for all incident angles and polarizations. Finally, the FSS properties are validated by a fabricated array of 311 mm2. 2018 IEEE.</text>

<text>Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs) typically employ with the aid of new technology to increase Quality-of-Service (QoS) when forwarding multiple data rates. This kind of network causes high forwarding delays and improper data transfer rates because of the changes in the nodes vicinity. Although an optimized routing technique to transfer energy has been used to lessen the delay and improve the throughput by assigning a proper data rate, it does not consider the objective of minimizing the energy use, which results in less network lifetime. The goal of the proposed work is to minimize the energy depletion in a MANET, which results in an extended Lifespan of the network. In this research paper, an Extended Life span and QSSM-ML routing algorithm is proposed, which minimizes energy use and enhances the network lifetime. First, an optimization problem is formulated with the purpose of increasing the networks lifetime while limiting the energy utilization and stability of the path along with residual. Second, an adaptive policy is applied for the asymmetric distribution of energy at both origin and intermediate nodes. In order to achieve maximum network lifespan and minimal energy depletion, the optimization problem was framed when power usage is a constraint by allowing the network to make use of the leftover power. An asymmetric energy transmission strategy was also designed for the adaptive allocation of maximum transmission energy in the origin. This made the network lifespan extended with the help of reducing the nodes energy use for broadcasting the data from the origin to the target. Moreover, the nodes energy use during packet forwarding is reduced to recover the network lifetime. The overall benefit of the proposed work is that it can achieve both minimal energy depletion and maximizes the lifetime of the network. Finally, the simulation findings reveal that the ELQSSM-ML algorithm accomplishes a better network performance than the classical algorithms. 2023 by the authors.</text>

<text>Waste management is a process of collecting, transporting, disposing, and monitoring waste materials generated by human activities. It is an essential part of maintaining public health, hygiene, and environmental sustainability. Waste management systems can be designed to handle different types of waste, such as household waste, industrial waste, hazardous waste, and medical waste. The increasing amount of waste has become a major issue for the development of sustainable communities. Machine learning can help solve this problem by allowing scientists to analyze and reduce waste. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the various aspects of waste management using machine learning. The chapter covers the various aspects of waste disposal, generation, transportation, and collection. It also explores machine learning's potential in this area, such as data analysis and prediction. It additionally compiles case studies about how machine learning has been utilized in this field. 2024, IGI Global.</text>

<text>The rate of infant mortality (IMR) in a population under one year of age is a marker for infant mortality. It is a major sensitive marker of a community's overall physical health. Protecting the lives of newborns has become a challenging issue in public health, development programs, and humanitarian initiatives. Almost 10.1% infants died in the United States of America (USA) in 2021. Therefore, this paper aims to extract and understand the various influential factors causing infant deaths in the USA. A crowding distance-based multi-objective ant lion optimization (MOALO-CD) is proposed here with statistical evidence for feature selection. The proposed technique is compared with competitive metaheuristic models such as multi-objective genetic algorithm based on crowding distance (MOGA-CD), multi-objective filter approaches, and recursive feature elimination. Various machine learning classifiers are applied to the selected feature subset obtained from MOALO-CD on the USA's infant dataset. Extensive experimental results indicate that the proposed model outperforms the existing metaheuristic approaches in terms of Generational Distance, Inverted Generational Distance, Spread, and Hyper volume. Also, the comparative analysis of various machine learning models reveals that random forest achieves significantly better performance on the feature subset obtained from MOALO-CD. 2013 IEEE.</text>
