Aims: To examine the relationship between nurses' perception about human resource management system and prosocial organisational behaviour through job efficacy. Background: Literature suggests that non-profit organisations are often confronted with financial constraints on one side and the expectation of delivering high-quality services on the other. Employees voluntarily engaging in service-oriented behaviours help to bridge this gap to some extent, and human resource management system plays a significant role in eliciting the requisite behaviours. In this article, the case of nurses from non-profit hospitals has been undertaken to examine the aspects of human resource management system that needs focus while promoting prosocial organisational behaviours among the nurses for ensuring better service delivery. Method: Cross-sectional design was employed. Data were collected from 387 nurses working in non-profit hospitals in India through questionnaires and were analysed with the help of structural equation modelling. Findings: In the absence of sophisticated human resource system in non-profit hospitals, the study found that nurses' perception about human resource management system is positively related to prosocial organisational behaviours, and job efficacy partially mediates the relationship. Conclusion: Positive perceptions such as involvement with the job and communication as well as supervisors' support are essential human resource practices for fostering self-efficacy and, thus, improving prosocial organisational behaviour of nurses working in non-profit hospitals. Implication for Nursing Management: Non-profit hospitals should focus on nurses' participation and supervisory support, which would provide a better human touch approach to patient care and also improve service quality. The findings shed light on the nursing management of non-profit hospitals in terms of human resource management that has to be given much attention for institutionalizing prosocial organisational behaviour. 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd

The Residue Number System is widely used in cryptography, digital signal processing, image processing systems and other areas where high-performance computation is required. One of the computationally expensive operations in the Residue Number System is the parity detection of a number. This paper presents a high-speed algorithm for parity detection of numbers in Residue Number System based on Akushsky core function. The proposed approach for parity detection reduces the average time by 20.39% compared to the algorithm based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem. A Bibliometric Analysis of Asset Allocation for Retirement

Allocation of investment assets is key in attaining a sustainable retirement portfolio. In this research article, the authors analyzed the most recent research publications in the area related to asset allocation for retirement and identified those which have the highest impact. The authors research was conducted using the bibliometric analysis technique of research articles collected from the Scopus database. Most of the research articles were published in reputed journals in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany. It was also observed that most of the highly cited research articles in the research area of asset allocation for retirement are focused on financial literacy, increase in retirement age, aging, and pension reforms. The authors findings identified six research themes in asset allocation for retirement such as 1) asset allocation for retirement planning, 2) methods to increase efficiency, 3) investment preferences for retirement savings 4) financial literacy and retirement planning, 5) reforms on retirement savings, and 6) annuities for retirement income. Furthermore, nineteen future research directions are also provided. In conclusion, the authors aim to assist future researchers in identifying highly cited articles, key authors, contributing countries and research themes in asset allocation for retirement. This study investigates the investment intentions of university students in Delhi NCR and the factors influencing their decision-making, guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Specifically, the research examines how financial attitude, risk tolerance, and academic background contribute to students' intent to invest, alongside demographic factors such as gender, family income, and family structure. A structured questionnaire was administered to 454 university students, and data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, chi-square tests, and multiple linear regression. Findings indicate that financial attitude and risk appetite significantly influence investment intention, with financial attitude showing the strongest negative effect. While the course of study did not significantly predict general investment intention, it showed a meaningful association with preference for equity investments. Gender differences were statistically significant, with male students more likely to invest both generally and in equities. In contrast, no significant differences were found for family income or family structure. The regression model explained 40.7% of the variance in investment intention, reinforcing TPBs attitudinal and control constructs. The study highlights the importance of integrating behavioral finance elements into education and encourages a shift beyond theoretical literacy toward experiential learning. Although variables such as social influence, financial self-efficacy, and digital platform awareness were not included in this study, their relevance is acknowledged for future research. India is passing through the crucial phase of demographic transition wherein a majority of its population is in the working age, giving India a never before opportunity to cash in on a huge demographic dividend. This brings spotlight on the human capital benefits that can accrue as a result of this phase with 54% of Indias 1.2 billion population under the age of 25. It is highly imperative for India to cash in on this critical phase through the creation and capitalization of knowledge, competency and the skill base of its people or the Human Capital and pave the way for faster economic growth and development of its economy.
The study takes in to consideration the Information Technology industry, wherein Indias prowess has been widely celebrated with Indian software engineers doing exceedingly well and there has been an apparent unstoppable outflow of jobs to India from U.S and Europe. India has become the undisputed global hub for outsourcing and technology mediated work. This has been possible primarily because of the rich pool of technically proficient English speaking workforce with superior logical and reasoning skills. One of the prime reasons for this has been the vast network of academic infrastructure in India churning out more than 500,000 technical graduates annually (NASSCOM, 2012). But multiple surveys by NASSCOM and CII have shown severe gap between employment and employability of technical graduates with only 25% of technical graduates suitable for employment, the rest lacking in skills which the industry wants.
In order to solve this paradox, the study was initiated to examine the skill requirements of new recruits in the IT sector. It aims at bringing about the differences, if any between the perception of academia and the industry on the importance of specific skill sets for new IT recruits. The study also explores if there is any disconnect between what the industry perceives to be the available skill sets among the new IT recruits and what the academia perceives to have imparted in terms of those skill sets to their students. In order to capture the perception of the academia and the industry, the study takes in to account their responses on a five-point likert scale on the desired level and actual level of proficiency of new IT recruits on technical, business, interpersonal and management skills. The study found that there were significant differences in the perception of IT Managers and Academicians on the desired level of proficiency of new IT recruits in 4 out of 7 skill sets analyzed, which were Interpersonal and Management Skills, Emerging Technologies Skills, IT Infrastructure Skills and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. IT Managers and Academicians differed in their views on the actual level of proficiency of new IT recruits too, as significant differences were found in their responses to 5 out of the 7 skill sets which were Interpersonal and Management Skills, Emerging Technologies Skills, Technical Management Skills, IT Infrastructure Skills and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. It surely does call for an active and productive partnership between the industry and the academia through meaningful communication, coordination and rigorous steps to bridge the gap and eventually to sustain and strengthen the inherent advantage that India has in the field of Information Technology.

10-Camphor sulfonic acid (10-CSA) has gained popularity as an organocatalyst due to its broad range of solubility and user-friendliness. Affordable multicomponent reactions (MCRs) for the preparation of benzoxanthenes (4a-4 h) (5a-5i) are presented in this work. Extensive investigations and records have been conducted on the diverse biological features exhibited by xanthenes and benzoxanthenones, such as their antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory capabilities.Using ?-naphthol, dimedone, and aldehydes, we demonstrate a cost-effective and environmentally friendly catalytic method. Under ideal circumstances, the 10-CSA catalyzes one-pot reaction, procuring impressive amounts of benzoanthenes (8595 %). All the synthesized compounds were characterized by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. A wide variety of suitable chemicals, simple work-up procedures, and solvent-free synthesis outperforms numerous existing methods for procuring biologically relevant benzoxanthene derivatives are some of the interesting features of this organocatalyzed bronsted acid process. Therefore this synthesis is industrially inevitable. Furthermore, computational studies such as molecular docking and ADMET data analysis were performed on a number of the synthesized benzoxanthene molecules. This has led to the identification of the most potent synthetic against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Additionally, to mimic how medicinal compounds interact to target proteins, computational docking and dynamics techniques were used. These studies showed that, in terms of binding affinity and other crucial traits, 4a, 4b, and 5a are potential possibilities. Overall, the current study should be of great help in the development of benzoxanthene analogs which can be potential drugs for treatment of COVID-19. 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Assessing and safeguarding groundwater quality is critical for sustaining life in water-scarce regions like western Tamil Nadu. The motivation behind this study stems from the pressing need to address water quality challenges in a region grappling with scarcity. Despite existing efforts, a notable research gap exists in predictive tools that comprehensively capture the nuanced temporal variations and trends in groundwater quality. This is where the LSTM network steps in, showcasing exceptional accuracy in short-term predictions and discerning long-term trends. This research uses Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, a variant of recurrent neural networks, to predict groundwater quality in South Indian Regions, especially in Tamil Nadu. Extensive data, encompassing parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and various chemical constituents, were gathered over an extended timeframe. The LSTM model was then trained on this historical dataset, factoring in temporal dependencies and seasonality inherent in groundwater quality data. The validation process rigorously tests the LSTM model against actual groundwater quality measurements. The results were impressive, as the model demonstrated a remarkable ability to unravel the complex variations in groundwater quality. 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Internal migrants in India are estimated to be 37% of the total population with Kerala estimated to host over 25 lakhs of internal migrants. Migration, both internal and international can influence a country or region s socio-economic development. The interrelation between health and migration is highlighted in the Sustainable Development Goals where health is determined as an indicator of people-centred, rights-based, inclusive, and equitable development . Though migrants as such are a vulnerable population, the gender experience of migration differs, as women migrants often face triple discrimination of being a woman, unprotected worker and a migrant making them the most vulnerable within the migrant community. They are often overlooked while formulating schemes and policies depriving them of health and social security benefits. The present newlinestudy aims to understand the perceived morbidity, health seeking behaviours and healthcare utilization among Interstate Women Migrant Workers in Kerala. The sequential exploratory research design was employed to newlinecollect data from workers in the seafood processing and textile manufacturing sectors. The qualitative phase had two focus group discussions with 8 participants each and four in-depth interviews while the quantitative newlinephase had cross-sectional surveys with 300 respondents. The focus group discussion and in-depth interview paved the way for understanding the issues and concerns of the respondents regarding their health seeking newlinebehaviours and healthcare utilization as well as hinting at their attitude towards health in general. Themes were able to provide insight into the factors underlying healthcare utilization as well as provided suggestions from the respondents which could have policy implications. The quantitative data was elaborate and was able to address the various dimensions of health seeking and determine the factors influencing healthcare utilization among interstate women migrants in Kerala.

The idea of India does not naturally happen. Like Benedict Anderson points out in his Imagined Communities, the media plays a huge role in ensuring that the public upholds certain notions of the nation. So, the imagining of a nation into existence as well as the sustenance of the collective are media-enabled. If print media had influenced people to envisage a nation by narrativizing a cultural commonality within members of a particular political setup in a particular geography (as in the case of 19th century Europe), the part played by popular cinema in independent India in feeding the imagining of Indianness cannot be considered less significant. Cinema texts based on war, terrorism, partition, etc. lend themselves for a nationalist treatment. Sports-themed Indian popular cinema too chooses to establish a marriage of convenience with nationalism. While sports and nationalism right from the first decade of the 20th century have had a history of helping each other thrive, - owing to nationality-based participation in Olympics and a similar format adopted by most other global events - it is in the 21st century that Indian Popular Cinema started exploiting the sports-nationalism relationship for its own progress. This research studies the discourse on Indian nationalism that three sports-themed texts of Indian popular cinema offer. Apart from proving to be huge box office hits, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, Chak De! India, and M S Dhoni: The Untold Story offer a lot for culture and nation theorists to ponder upon.

Green synthesis and applications of gold nanoparticles are more fascinating research area due to their unique optical properties and high X-ray attenuation power. In this study, we have synthesized gold nanoparticles of uniform size (5 nm) with spherical shape. UVvis spectroscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy were employed to characterize the synthesized gold nanoparticles. The biomedical applications of the synthesized gold nanoparticles were carried out against most prevalent human fungal pathogen, Candida albicans. Broth micro dilution assay was used to determine minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). We observed that 0. 5 mM concentration was effective in inhibiting the growth of fungal cells which was later confirmed by spot assay. 2019 Elsevier Ltd

A branch of mathematics that treats vertices and edges of a graph is called graph theory. This theory is used to replicate many real-life situations and physical problems. Graph coloring problem is one of the prominent studies in extremal graph theory. Suppose information has to be communicated in a network or some product has to be marketed to all the people in a cluster then there are two types of cost that needs to be encountered, one the cost of selecting the initial set of vertices in a network and the second is, time it takes to propagate the information through the entire network. The sum of these two parameters is known as the total cost. Optimizing the total cost, which is the sum of vertices and the time it takes to propagate information through the entire network, is a challenging problem for any newlinegraph. Such an interesting and well-studied problem is called the dynamic coloring newlineproblem. The forcing problem also known as infecting or spreading problem is one newlinesuch dynamic coloring problem where two colors- white and black are used. Assume that a fxed set of vertices in a graph G are initially black and that the remaining vertices are considered white vertices. The aim of the forcing process is to obtain, fully black-colored vertices of the graph G by progressively applying the color change law, making sure that at least one white vertex is forced black in every discrete time interval. The forcing index is the minimum cardinality of the forcing sets. Diand#64256;erent types of forcing, such as one forcing, connected one forcing, k-forcing connected k-forcing etc., are defned based on the color change law. The one forcing is the basic form of forcing. A generalised form of one forcing is known as k-forcing where k lt V (G). The time taken by a forcing set to force the entire vertices of the graph G black is the propagation time or iteration index. The subject of study aims to fnd the one forcing number and k-forcing number of diand#64256;erent types of graph classes and derived graph classes.

Biowaste-derived carbon biomaterial scaffolds are being used for wound healing and are the focus of interest. Carbon nanospheres derived from oil palm leaves without any catalysts via pyrolysis were loaded with a traditional drug curcumin. The wound healing scaffolds were fabricated on the PP non-woven fabric support using chitosan as the biopolymer matrix. Prepared carbon nanospheres and the scaffolds were characterized using ATR-IR and FESEM techniques. The wettability of scaffolds was examined to ensure the feasible moisture absorption ability, in vitro drug release profile and in vitro antibacterial activity against two strains of bacteria. The in vivo wound healing feature of scaffolds was studied by excision wound model for MRSA infected wound.
