The corrosion protection effect of phenyltrimethylammoniumtetrachloroaluminate[PTMA]+[AlCl4]?as an inhibitor was explored in the present work. In this paper, the authors have explored a non-heterocyclicbased ionic liquid as a corrosion inhibitor for metal protection in the acid cleaning process of metal. In particular, a negative ion is designed based onthe lewis acid concept by which it could cover the maximum surface by the bigger molecule size. The inhibition efficiency was found to be steadily increasing as the concentration of the [PTMA]+[AlCl4]? ionic liquids increased.These studies revealed thatthe inhibitor exhibited a remarkable potential for corrosion protection on carbon steel in 1 N HCl solution. Stable corrosion protection efficiency (96%) was achieved for 1.3 mMof inhibitor. The adsorption of the inhibitive molecule was studied by Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The anti-corrosion effect of ionic liquid on the surface protection was revealed by scanning electron microscope (SEM)and lower surface roughness attained at an optimum concentration of inhibitor in atomic force microscope (AFM) analysis. In this study, with the view of the experimental and theoretical investigation (gaseous and aqueous forms of [PTMA]+[AlCl4]? ionic liquid in presence of HCl)was investigated, and finding deduced that the ionic liquid offered maximum dispenses with the heterocyclic group. Context. Constituting a relatively small fraction of the extended-jetted population, giant radio galaxies (GRGs) form in a wide range of jet and environment configurations. This observed diversity complicates the identification of the growth factors that facilitate their attainment of megaparsec scales. Aims. This study aims to numerically investigate the hypothesized formation mechanisms of GRGs extending ?1 Mpc in order to assess their general applicability. Methods. We employed tri-axial ambient medium settings to generate varying levels of jet frustration and simulated jets with a low and a high power from different locations in the environment. This approach formulated five representations evolving under a relativistic magnetohydrodynamic framework. Results. The emergence of distinct giant phases in all five simulated scenarios suggests that GRGs may be more common than previously believed. This prediction can be verified with contemporary and forthcoming radio telescopes. We find that different combinations of jet morphology, power, and evolutionary age of the formed structure hold the potential to elucidate different formation scenarios. In all of these cases, the lobes are overpressured, prompting further investigation into pressure profiles when jet activity ceases, potentially distinguishing between relic and active GRGs. We observed a potential phase transition in GRGs marked by differences in lobe expansion speed and pressure variations compared to their smaller evolutionary phases. This suggests the need for further investigation across a broader parameter space to determine if lobe evolution in GRGs fundamentally differs from smaller radio galaxies. The axial ratio analysis reveals self-similar expansion in rapidly propagating jets, while there is a notable deviation when the jet forms wider lobes. Overall, this study emphasizes that multiple growth factors simultaneously at work can better elucidate the current-day population of GRGs, including scenarios such as the growth of GRGs in dense environments, GRGs extending several megaparsecs, development of GRGs in low-powered jets, and the formation of morphologies such as GRG-XRGs. Probing the nature of defects of graphene like nano-carbon from amorphous materials by raman spectroscopy

Raman spectral characterization of selected carbonaceous materials has been carried out at excitation wavelengths 514, 633 and 1064 nm. Raman studies exhibit the presence of G band owing to the first order of E2g mode scattering. sp3 domains at about 1355 cm-1 (D band) are ascribed to the disordered structures due to the on-site and hoping defects which introduces distortions in the crystal lattice. Spectral de-convolution indicates the prominence of bands namely G, D1, D2, D3 and D4. D3 and D4 bands follow Gaussian, while the others Lorentian distribution. With change in excitation wavelength of laser, the degree of dispersion of G peak and ID/IG intensity ratio are found to increase. The crystallite size La, shows an inverse relation with intensity of defect to graphite band (ID/IG) and it also obeys Tuinstra-Koenig relation for nano-crystalline substance. The lateral size of aromatic lamellae determined using XRD analysis is in good agreement with that of Raman analysis. The feasibility of using kerosene soot, diesel soot and carbon black for electrochemical applications are also explored.

4U 1543-47 underwent its brightest outburst in 2021 after two decades of inactivity. During its decay phase, AstroSat conducted nine observations of the source spanning from 2021 July 1 to September 26. The first three observations were performed with an offset of 40 arcmin with AstroSat/LAXPC, while the remaining six were on-axis observations. In this report, we present a comprehensive spectral analysis of the source as it was in the High/Soft state during the entire observation period. The source exhibited a disc-dominated spectra with a weak high-energy tail (power-law index ?2.5) and a high inner disc temperature (?0.84 keV). Modelling the disc continuum with non-relativistic and relativistic models, we find inner radius to be significantly truncated at >10 Rg. Alternatively, to model the spectral evolution with the assumption that the inner disc is at the innermost stable circular orbit, it is necessary to introduce variation in the spectral hardening in the range ?1.5-1.9. 2023 The Author(s).

The study was aimed at isolating and characterising a potential probiotic bacterium from dried anchovies (Stolephorus indicus) and evaluating its antibacterial, antibiofilm and growth enhancing potential in Danio rerio. The isolate was identified as Bacillus subtilis using 16S rRNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Probiotic properties were characterised based on the ability of the isolated strain to survive in simulated gastric juice and trypsin. Isolated strain was further subjected to varying pH, temperature, different concentrations of organic solvents to evaluate its potential to tolerate stress. Biofilm inhibition against Vibrio harveyi (31.54.6%), Escherichia coli (28.84.2 %), Pseu-domonas aeruginosa (34.83.1%) and Staphylococcus aureus (34.43.75%) was noted. The study showed that the isolate improved the survival rate of Danio rerio against Vibrio harveyi and Escherichia coli. The weight (12.770.06) and length (11.4130.18) gain percentage was numerically (p> 0.05) improved in probiotic supplemented groups as compared to control. This study focused on isolation and characterisation of potential probiotic bacteria from a non aquatic source (Gallus gallus domesticus). Enterococcus sp. was isolated from the midgut of G. gallus domesticus and was characterised for its ability to survive in artificial gastric juice, trypsin, varying pH and temperature, different concentrations of organic solvents, and was evaluated for its ammonia reduction potential. Notable inhibition of biofilm against Vibrio harveyi (41.03.2 %), Escherichia coli (33.04.0 %), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (37.84.0 %) and Staphylococcus aureus (41.72.0 %) was observed. The study showed that the isolate improved the survival rate of Danio rerio against V. harveyi and E. coli in challenge studies using survival analysis. The weight and length gains observed were 4.90.1 % and 0.30.2 % (p>0.05), respectively. The digestive system of human beings contains a large group of microbes which help in controlling the host's internal environment and thereby assist in maintaining the health of the host. These microorganisms exist in a mutual relationship with the human host which has led to extensive research in this particular field. Most of these microorganisms have become resistant to day-today drugs and antibiotics. These organisms control various functions like defense, eupepsia, catabolism, anabolism and also help in brain-gut responses. Probiotics assist in improving gut bacteria and are found to be effective in controlling various diseases. Prescribing probiotics to children with malnutrition in underdeveloped countries can reduce the death of many children. Antibiotics have been responsible for the evolution of multidrug-resistant microbes. The side-effects of existing drugs and increased treatment costs have led to nutraceuticals gaining popularity. Nutraceuticals have therapeutic applications due to the ability of the probiotics to be viable in encapsulated pills and drinks. Due to their ability to exclude carcinogenic microorganisms by limiting the nutrients available and by competing for receptors nutraceuticals are useful against cancers. Nutraceuticals are useful against diabetes by controlling the genes involved in the insulin-signaling pathway. Gaming is a pastime activity that has been enjoyed by millions of individuals worldwide for the past few years. The adolescent is in a developmental period that involves significant bio- psychosocial changes, including rapid changes in physical and mental states that make them more vulnerable to addiction. Online Gaming could have a higher risk of developing problematic gaming. Many studies have documented video gaming addiction and not problematic video gaming. Problematic gaming is a condition different from video game addiction. Further research remains needed to synthesise the factors behind problematic video game usage. The purpose of the scoping review is to synthesise the findings related to problematic video by identifying using a search through the following database: JSTOR, ProQuest, APA Psycnet, Ebsco. The research will help detect the early symptoms of addiction and understand the mechanism behind the addictive nature. Through the study, we can provide psychological care for adolescents by educating them and preventing and being aware of problematic gaming usage and experiences. The Electrochemical Society

Increase in demand for Fruit and Vegetables has augmented over the years. Being perishable they are restricted to a limited life span. The time dependency on perishable commodities acts as a barrier to retain the freshness and quality in fruits and vegetables for a longer period. Therefore, Inventory management is vital to manage perishable commodities as it brings in transparency to the actual demand from the customers. The retailer being the key element in the supply chain to come in contact with the customer should follow up with techniques to manage overstocking and stock out situation. The present study focuses on bringing in inventory management in HOPCOMS, a cooperative society in Karnataka. In the road to satisfy the customers, it is necessary for the society to come up with different strategies to manage the inventories. Different inventory evaluation methods are studied in relation to perishable commodities and the factors affecting the same. FIFO (first in first out) an inventory evaluation method was found to be more efficient and must be considered practically by the retailers to manage inventories during the sales. However, with efficient infrastructural facilities, interference of state government to bring in cold storage facilities and, creating awareness regarding the actual demand for a commodity in the market, the retailer would be able to balance overstocking and stock out situation in the future. 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc. Background/Purpose: The effectiveness of a Business School depends on the extra role behaviours or Organ-isational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) of its committed academics. The social exchange theory postulates that employees tend to display OCB when they know how their organisation would treat them. As B-School academics' inclination towards OCB is less understood, this study examines the interaction between Procedural Justice (PJ), Perceived Organisational Support (POS) and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) among B-School academics. Methods: A survey was carried out to collect data from B-School academics, 378 responses were collected from B-Schools from the state of Kerala, India. Data validity and reliability analyses, and direct and indirect effects of research variables were tested using Partial Least Square (PLS) path modelling. Results: The results indicate PJ positively influences POS as well as dimensions of the OCB for B-School academics. Contrary to previous OCB studies, this study finds that POS do not significantly relate to Courtesy. The findings also show that POS fully mediates PJ's relationship with Altruism, Conscientiousness and Civic Virtues of B-School academics. Conclusion: This research explains the dynamics of PJ and POS towards OCB in a B-School setting. The academic setting of this study provides more insight into the relationships and provides insights into enhancing the organisational citizenship behaviour of academics in enhancing educational outcomes. Cordyceps is a rare and exotic medicinal genus that has been utilised for generations in traditional Chinese medicine. China, Bhutan, Nepal, the Tibetan Plateau, and the newlinenortheastern parts of India are the main areas where they may be noticed. Cordycepin newline(C10H13O3N5), an adenosine derivative generated naturally by Cordyceps militaris, has essential pharmacological effects. Cordycepin has been shown to have anti-tumor/antiproliferative, anti-metastatic, apoptosis-inducing, anti-malaria, anti-microbial, antifungal, anti-diabetic/hypoglycemic, and anti-inflammatory qualities, among other things. The scarcity of native Cordyceps spp., as well as illicit commerce and a lack of growing methods in natural habitats, limit the supply of this prized fungus for therapeutic applications. As a result, an attempt was made to standardize the technique for large-scale cordycepin manufacturing in a laboratory setting. To measure the cordycepin, analytical methods by using High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and Ultraviolet Visible spectroscopy (UV Spec.) were established. Furthermore, different methods were optimised and established to successfully extract cordycepin from biomass. Solid state fermentation (SSF) was performed to grow the fruiting bodies of C. militaris in jars. A novel technology was developed using cotton in the SSF which improved the cordycepin content by 138.42 %. Different liquid culture methods (static, submerged, and mix) were also studied; the Static mode was chosen for future media optimization studies. Initially, different parameters like the effect of pH, light, media volume, and inoculum percentage were optimised that affect the cordycepin production. Further, numerous media components, including carbon newlinesources, nitrogen sources, metals, salts and also the impact of vitamins, amino acids, newlineand adenosine that can influence the cordycepin production were optimized employing the One Factor at a time (OFAT) method.

Process development to synthesize plasma sprayable powders from nano alumina ceramic powders

Nano sized (?100 nm) alumina powders were converted into micron sized (30-75 mm) plasma sprayable powders by employing synthetic polymers to agglomerate them. The agglomeration process was carried out (a) in a spray dryer and (b) through systematic manual granulation procedure. The importance of process parameters that govern the plasma spray powder synthesis and thereby the characteristics were being suitable for being plasma spray coated have been brought out in this research paper. A comparative study has been made between the two synthesis methods by testing the powders synthesized under different processing conditions for their flowability characteristics. Micro-structural features related with the shape morphology and powder grain sizes were studied by Scanning Electron Microscope and the elemental composition characterization was carried out by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy. The most suitable plasma sprayable powders were further coated onto metal substrates by using an Atmospheric Plasma Spray coating unit. The plasma sprayable powders were developed with a goal to explore their potential for their applications as wear resistant nano coatings. 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Process of Emotion Regulation in Indian Couples During Gottmans Dreams-Within-Conflict Intervention: A Mixed-Methods Design Study

Gottman Couple Therapy (GCT) is based on 40 + years of empirical findings and advocates process research, enabling an understanding of how an intervention works. Dreams-within-Conflict (DWC) is a GCT technique that softens the stand on unresolvable issues by facilitating positive emotion regulation strategies such as expressing vulnerabilities, understanding, and soothing in place of destructive strategiessuch as criticism and defensiveness. The aim of the study is to understand the emotion regulation process during a one-session DWC intervention using a convergent parallel mixed-methods design examining N = 30 individuals (15 couples) during the DWC intervention. The changes in emotion regulation strategies (Extrinsic/Intrinsic affect Worsening/Improving strategiesEW, IW, EI, II) in partners were examined in the presence of individual characteristics of emotion regulation traits (cognitive-reappraisal and suppression) and beliefs using self-assessment questionnaires, feedback reports, thematic coding of video recordings, and a semi-structured interview. Paired-samplest-test results showed that DWC fosters emotion regulation strategies by significantly decreasing partners EW and increasing EI and II strategies. Though IW strategies declined during-DWC, the changes were not significant. Hierarchical linear modeling findings showed that before-DWC emotion regulation strategies, gender, and individual emotion regulation traits of cognitive-reappraisal and suppression predicted EI, and before-DWC strategies predicted II, but none of the variables predicted EW and IW during-DWC. To further understand the interventional implications, the emotional regulation strategies and preferences for expression (over suppression) shared by the Indian couples were examined using thematic analysis. The results show that avoidance, conflict behaviors, and prioritizing parents emotions over partners (in men) were the most often employed regulatory strategies. Simultaneously, Indian couples unanimously agreed that expression of emotions was a crucial factor for marital satisfaction. Gottman Couple Therapy (GCT) promotes process research to comprehend how interventions function. A GCT intervention called Dreams-within-Conflict (DWC) encourages healthy emotional regulation techniques including expression and experiencing to diffuse impasses. The purpose of this study is to examine emotion regulation and experiencing changes during a single DWC session using convergent mixed methods on N=30 individuals (15 couples). The techniques for controlling emotions (Extrinsic/Intrinsic affect Worsening/Improving strategies EW, IW, EI, II) and experiencing mode/peak scores (ESM & ESP) were measured using self- assessments, observation rating and coding of video recordings, interviews, and feedback reports in relation to individual traits of emotion regulation (cognitive reappraisal & suppression), beliefs, attachment (avoidance & anxiety), and mindfulness. Paired-samples t-test revealed that DWC significantly reduced partners' EW and boosted partners' EI and II. Both ESM and ESP significantly improved. Results from hierarchical linear modelling showed that before-DWC EI, gender, cognitive reappraisal, and suppression predicted EI and before-DWC II and avoidance predicted II. None of the variables predicted EW or IW. Gender predicted ESM. The emotional regulation strategies, experiencing and preferences for expression (over suppression) shared by Indian couples were examined using thematic analysis. Avoidance, conflict behaviours, and prioritising parents' emotions over partners' (in men) were most used strategies. Experiencing levels 1-3 used before-DWC changed to 3-4 during-DWC. Expression was unanimously preferred by Indian couples.

Background: Identity is a crucial milestone achievement for adolescents to become contributing adult members in society. This narrative research focused on exploring the link between identity development and psychological functioning and understanding the process of Indian adolescents' and adults' identity development and psychological functioning. Often, the Indian identity researchers use the theories of identity development conceptualized by Erikson, James Marcia and Michael Berzonsky which have been primarily conceptualized to understand the process of individual's identity development in the western individualistic cultural context. These theorists based their theories on certain essential contextual conditions, for the individuals' identity development. This review article critically explored the availability and applicability of those contextual conditions for Indian adolescents' and adults' identity development. Methods: The articles for the review were mainly collected from the online databases such as PROQUEST Research Library, Taylor and Francis, the archives of the Indian Journal of Social Psychiatry, the archives of the Indian Journal of Psychiatry, EBSCO, and Google. A narrative review method was used to examine various elements of the process of identity development conceptualized by the mainstream identity development theorists Erikson, James Marcia, and Michael Berzonsky and their applicability to the process of Indian adolescents' and adults' identity development. Results: The review found that the processes of mainstream identity development theories have some serious limitations in their applicability to the Indian context. Conclusions: This article identified alternative identity development processes and interventions that could be used to enhance Indian adolescents' and adults' identity development. 2022 The Author(s).
