Review on Durability of Geopolymer Concrete Developed with Industrial and Agricultural Byproducts
High population growth has increased the requirement for infrastructure development tremendously. Building materials like ordinary portland cement which is the primary component in concrete is growing due to the increased demand for new infrastructure. Concrete is the world's second most consumed material. Special concrete called Geopolymer concrete (GPC), is grabbing the interest of researchers as substitute to ordinary portland cement concrete (OPCC). Manufacture of cement is highly energy intensive and leads to large quantity of CO2 emission to atmosphere which in turn leads to global warming. Thus, replacement of cement with geopolymer material minimises pollution in two ways: by lowering cement consumption and utilisation and by lowering CO2 emission. Various industrial and agricultural waste materials like fly ash, metakolin, ground granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume, rice husk ash, sugarcane bagasse ash etc. are abundantly available. These aluminosilicate sources have been widely employed to develop geopolymer concrete with high strength, thermal resistance, and durability. This article is a review of research on the durability aspects of geopolymer concrete, its most significant durability parameters like resistance to acid attack, sulphate attack, water absorption, porosity, sorptivity, rapid chloride penetration, wet and dry cycle have been reviewed to comprehend these vital issues. 2023 -

Review of open space rules and regulations and identification of specificities for plot-level open spaces to facilitate sustainable development: An Indian case
Rapid urbanization and an increase in the alteration of natural resources have led to climate crises, driving the need to promote sustainable development. Urban open space management plays a vital role in such scenarios. Research on urban open spaces has been mainly conducted at regional, municipal, and neighborhood scales. Rarely has the focus been on the plot-level potentials and management of open spaces. Therefore, the study looks into the Indian development control rules and regulations and identifies that although these stipulate the percentage of open space for development on each plot, specificities for open spaces are unclear. Further, the study analyses quantitative and qualitative aspects of open spaces for selected group housing schemes in Pune city. The inquiry shows that per capita open space in Pune is comparatively lower than national standards. The quantitative aspects include FSI, building ground coverage, built-up area, number of floors, and number of dwelling units, and each relates to open spaces in one way or another. The qualitative interpretations disclose that a plot-level open space can significantly impact the regional-level open space network. Hence, the research advocates a bottom-up approach wherein plot-level open space can become the focus in formulating new norms and policies for sustainable development. Review of Neuropsychological and Electrophysiological Correlates of Callous-unemotional Traits in Children: Implications for EEG Neurofeedback Intervention
Conduct disorder is a significant psychiatric disorder of childhood and adolescence. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth version (DSM-5), added the limited prosocial specifier to identify those individuals who exhibit a more severe pattern of behavior characterized by a callous and unemotional (CU) interpersonal style across multiple settings and relationships. This review has attempted to summarize the relevant research focusing on the significance of CU interpersonal style in the development of psychopathy. The primary focus was on the electrophysiological and neuropsychological correlates of CU traits and their implication on the treatment protocol using neurofeedback training for children with such traits. The source of the literature search was PubMed, which majorly uses the MEDLINE database. The keywords used included CU traits, conduct disorder, child psychopathy, empathy, electrophysiology, criminal behavior, neuropsychology, neurofeedback training, and so on. Studies from the last 15 years were considered for the review. This review revealed that children with conduct disorder and high-CU traits with a combination of reactive and proactive aggression are more likely to develop psychopathy. Evidence suggests that these children have distinct forms of electrophysiological and neuropsychological correlates. However, research in this area is still not conclusive as they yield variation in findings. Studies on the efficacy of neurofeedback training on reducing symptoms such as impulsivity, hostility, and psychopathy indicate that neurofeedback training can be a promising treatment alternative for children with severe conduct disorder. Managing the substantial volume of industrial waste is challenging due to diminishing landfill capacity and associated risks to people and the environment. The optimal approach is to repurpose or find alternative applications for these waste products. Previous studies have investigated using industrial waste and chemicals to enhance soil stability. Common binders like cement, while offering significant stabilization potential, raise concerns about economic feasibility and environmental impact. Recently, theres a growing interest in low carbon emission cementing agents. This trend leads to using waste by-products for geopolymer binder production, potentially strengthening soft soil in an eco-friendly way. Unconfined compressive strength, vital in construction foundation design, has been a focus of extensive research to enhance soil strength over the years. This paper provides a brief overview of several studies that highlight the utilization of various industrial waste products in the synthesis of geopolymers. Also, this comprehensive review centers on investigations related to the application of geopolymers derived from industrial solid waste as a soil stabilizer. The review delves into the impact of various parameters, including different percentage mixes (%), molarity (M), temperature (T), curing time (days), on the unconfined compressive strength of the soil. It has been observed that, a variety of industrial by-products like Bagasse ash (BA), Blast furnace slag (BFS), Egg shell powder (ESP), Fly ash (FA), Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), Iron Ore Tailings (IOT), Metakaolin (MK), Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA), Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP), Rice husk ash (RHA), Red Mud (RM), etc. can serve as valuable source materials for geopolymerization. In most of the studies, the commonly utilized alkaline activator consists of a blend of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solution. The unconfined compressive strength of geopolymerized industrial waste products relies on specific parameters, including optimal alkaline concentration, activator liquid to raw material mass ratio, and sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide solution ratio. Diverse curing conditions are also necessary, varying with raw materials and activators. The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Chinese Society of Pavement Engineering 2024. -

Return volatility transmission among Asian stock exchanges: Evidence from a heterogeneous market outlook
. This pragmatic research strives to reveal the return volatility transmission throughout Asian stock exchanges, by employing variance decomposition technique of Vector autoregressive (VAR) based framework. Additionally, the current examination exerts a Granger causality approach to detect short-term cause and effect among the stock exchanges. The consequence of volatility spill-over exhibits the dominancy of Indian, Chinese and Japanese exchanges in terms of net volatility transmitter. Further, it is found that Korean, Thai, and Malaysian stock exchanges seem to be net receiver of volatility in Asia. Additionally, the outcome of current investigation reveals neutrality of Bangladeshi and Pakistani stock exchange, as the returns volatility of these stock exchange are not influenced by any other Asian stock exchanges. Furthermore, the result of Granger causality analysis signifies the existence of unidirectional causality among the Asian stock exchanges. In terms of policy implication, it is imperative for investors and policymakers to closely monitor the behaviour of the Japanese stock exchange, as it plays a significant role as a net transmitter of volatility to other stock exchanges in Asia. By keeping a vigilant eye on the Japanese stock exchange, investors can better assess and manage potential risks and opportunities in the region. 2023 IOS Press. All rights reserved. -

Return and volatility spillover between India, UK, USA and European stock markets: The Brexit impact
The 2016 Brexit referendum created potential turmoil in financial markets. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the Brexit referendum on the return and volatility spillover between the EU, the UK, and the USA stock markets and the Indian stock market during the pre- and post-Brexit referendum period. The VAR and bivariate GARCH BEKK models were employed. The study results suggest that before the Brexit referendum, Indian stock market returns made no significant return spillover on the other markets. On the contrary, following the referendum, Indian stock returns significantly spilled over to France, Germany, the UK, and the USA stock market returns. The study results also identified a substantial increase in the bidirectional volatility spillover between India-France, India-UK, and India-USA during the post-Brexit referendum period. Therefore, the investors opportunity to invest simultaneously in India, UK, EU, and US stock markets for portfolio diversification is limited. India was affected mainly by its own past shocks before the Brexit referendum. However, after the Brexit referendum, Indian markets are getting more and more integrated with other markets. In order to reap the diversification benefits, a prudent investment strategy will need to be developed in the future, especially during times of economic and political uncertainty and market crisis.
