Impact of domestic investment, market size, and trade openness on outward fdi: A panel data analysis on brics
The recent phenomenal increase in the outward foreign direct investment (FDI) of emerging countries has raised concerns among policymakers. One school of thought argues that when multinational firms relocate production facilities abroad, it reduces the likelihood of concurrent investments in the home country, resulting in reduced domestic output. In this case, the outward FDI would harm the domestic investments. The other argues that the outward FDI would be more advantageous for the domestic investment when firms internationalize for entering into new markets and/or to import intermediate goods, wherein outward investments boost the returns in the home country, leading to a positive impact of outward FDI on domestic investment. The influence of the outward FDI on the domestic investment of any country or a region state cannot be generalized as each country is unique, and the drivers of investments would differ for different countries at the different development phases of each country. An attempt was made in this study to empirically trace the impact of the domestic investment, market size, and trade openness of the BRICS's members on the BRICS's outward FDI as a group. The results of the panel least square method highlighted that the variables - domestic investment and trade openness of BRICS had a positive effect on the outward FDI; whereas, the market size of BRICS was inversely related to outward FDI of BRICS. The data were tested for stationarity and Hausman test validated the results. 2019, Associated Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd.. All rights reserved. -
Role of mixed nanofluids on fluid flow and intensify energy transfer in a boundary layer region driven by a free convective force
This research study explores boundary layer flow and intensification of heat transfer through a porous medium accompanied by buoyant forces with the support of appended mixed nanofluids. The generated partial differentiation model is altered to a couple of the highly complicated nonlinear differentiation model by support of the similarity conversion. The resultant model is then resolved by the shooting method for finding the initial approximation and thereafter the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg 45th-order method is used to get the desired result. The energy transfer and the flow of mixed nanofluids are analyzed by considering vital factors, like convection, porous and volume fraction. The acquired results fairly agree with erstwhile published articles. The major finding is that for greater values of the volume fraction, both fluid flow and energy transfer of a mixed nanofluid will be greater when compared with a regular nanofluid. 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. -
A theoretical framework for gamified learning
The term gamified has been applied to a large number of processes in the organization. Marketing professionals have attempted to gamify customer experiences, while human resource managers have attempted to gamify employee processes like recruitment and onboarding. Being a powerful driver for goal-oriented behavioural change, gamification has the potential to revolutionise the way people work, collaborate, and develop. However, the application of gamification has met with limited success in the organization. Researchers have attributed this lack of success to incomplete understanding of the concept. The current study reviews literature in the area of Gamification in an attempt to arrive at a conceptual model explaining how gamification drives learning. The model proposed in this study is simple and draws from key theories related to Learning and use of technology. The purpose of the review is to provide a base for future researchers and a basic understanding for practitioners attempting to introduce gamified learning. BEIESP. -
Time-Dependent Nonlinear Convective Flow and Radiative Heat Transfer of Cu-Al2O3-H2O Hybrid Nanoliquid with Polar Particles Suspension: a Statistical and Exact Analysis
The statistical and exact analysis of heat transfer rate and skin friction coefficient of a nonlinear convective flow of Cu ? Al2O3 ? H2O hybrid nanofluid with polar particle suspension is performed. The heat transport phenomenon includes radiative heat effect. A micropolar fluid model is accounted. Exact solutions to the governing problem are found via Laplace transform method (LTM). The heat transfer rate and skin friction are analysed critically via statistical methods like probable error and regression models. The slope of linear regression of data points for skin friction and Nusselt number is estimated to quantify the increase/decrease. The Nusselt number and thermophysical properties for twenty-four different hybrid nanofluids are presented. A novel idea of a nonlinear convective flow of Cu ? Al2O3 ? H2O hybrid nanofluid with polar particle suspension is investigated for the first time. Opposite behaviour of velocity and microrotation profile are established when the physical parameters are varied. 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. -
Evaluation and applying feature extraction techniques for face detection and recognition
Detecting the image and identifying the face has become important in the field of computer vision in recognizing and analyzing, reconstructing into 3D, and labelling the image. Feature extraction is usually the first stage in detection and recognition of the image processing and computer vision. It supports the conversion of the image into a quantitative data. Later, this converted data can be used for labelling, classifying and recognizing a model. In this paper, performance of such feature extraction techniques viz. Local Binary Pattern (LBP), Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique are applied to detect and recognize the face. The experiments conducted with a data set addressing the issues like pose variation, facial expression and intensity of light. The efficiency of the algorithms was evaluated based on the computational time and accuracy rate. 2018 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. All rights reserved. -

Financial inclusion in IndiaA progress and challenges
The term Financial Inclusion means the process of access to appropriate financial products and services needed by all sections of society including vulnerable groups such as weaker section and low-income at an affordable cost. It has been a very big challenge for the developing countries for including the people into the financial system. Financial inclusion is emerging as a new paradigm of economic growth that plays major role in driving away the poverty from the country. Financial inclusion is important priority of the country in terms of economic growth and advancement of society. Globally, the financial inclusion is on the rise and from 2014-2017, 515 million adults opened an account with bank and there has been a significant increase in the use of mobile Phones and internet to conduct financial transaction. There was a commendable increase in the financial inclusion and this is predominantly driven by India. Through government initiatives and indicatives taken by the RBI, weaker sections of society and economically poor people were able to access to financial products, services, credit etc. The basic variables for measuring the financial inclusion are bank penetration, credit penetration, number of accounts opened etc. So the present study aims to investigate the progress of financial Inclusion in India through the initiatives taken by the Government of India(GOI) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). 2019 SERSC. -
Components of the diffuse ultraviolet radiation at high latitudes
We have used data from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer to study the different components of the diffuse ultraviolet background in the region between the Galactic latitudes 70?-80?. We find an offset at zero dust column density (E(B ? V) = 0) of 240 18 photon units in the FUV (1539 and 394 37 photon units in the NUV (2316 . This is approximately half of the total observed radiation with the remainder divided between an extragalactic component of 114 18 photon units in the FUV and 194 37 photon units in the NUV and starlight scattered by Galactic dust at high latitudes. The optical constants of the dust grains were found to be a = 0.4 0.1 and g = 0.8 0.1 (FUV) and a = 0.4 0.1 and g = 0.5 0.1 (NUV). We cannot differentiate between a Galactic or extragalactic origin for the zero-offset but can affirm that it is not from any known source. 2019 Oxford University Press. All rights reserved. -
Time-dependent flow due to noncoaxial rotation of an infinite vertical surface subjected to an exponential space-dependent heat source: An exact analysis
The effect of an exponential space-dependent heat source on heat and mass transfer flow of a viscous fluid past an infinite vertical plate is examined. The flow is generated due to noncoaxial rotation of the infinite plate. The noncoaxial rotation creates sine or cosine oscillation in its plane and the fluid at infinity. The flow is assumed to be laminar and time-dependent. The mathematical formulation is developed by considering certain physical initial and boundary conditions. The Laplace transform method is utilized to obtain the exact solutions of the concentration, temperature as well as velocity fields. The Sherwood number, Nusselt number, and skin-friction coefficient are also calculated and presented in tabular form for various embedded parameters. The velocity distributions are obtained for three different cases. The obtained analytical expressions are found to be identical with published results in the limiting sense. 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. -
Enhancement of nitrogen assimilation and photosynthetic efficiency by novel iron pulsing technique in Oryza sativa L. var Pankaj
Rice is a major food crop. Due to urbanization and climate change, rice production is declining, posing a threat to the increasing food demand. For this, a modified technique of priming is used to enhance plant vigor. In the present study an endogenous rice cultivar was treated with two different iron salts for 72 h and grown for 14 days in nutrient solution. This increased the iron content of the samples which further escalated the photosynthetic efficiency and carbon assimilation in the treated plants. Photosynthesis being correlated to nitrogen assimilation, nitrogen assimilation intermediates and protein content were also elevated in treated plants. Plants showed no symptoms of stress as evident from low malondialdehyde content and increased antioxidant enzymes activity. From this study it can be inferred that, treatment with iron during germination, helps to trigger growth by facilitating photosynthesis and nitrogen assimilation. 2019 Elsevier Masson SAS -
Poly(vinyl alcohol)bismuth oxide composites for X-ray and ?-ray shielding applications
Polymer composites, which are light in weight, cost effective, and less toxic, have potential applications in X-ray and ?-ray shielding and protection. In this work, we have explored the efficacy of poly(vinyl alcohol)bismuth oxide composites as radiation shielding materials. Poly(vinyl alcohol) composites with different wt % (050) of bismuth were prepared by a simple solution casting technique. Structural and thermal characterization of these samples was carried out using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA revealed the enhanced thermal stability of these composites. AC conductivity measurements and optical spectroscopy were used to analyze their electrical behavior. The composites showed low conductivity, and the energy gap obtained also showed their tendency to be insulators. The radiation attenuation properties were investigated using X-ray (5.895 and 6.490 keV) and ?-ray (59.54 and 662 keV) transmission measurements. The shielding efficiency of the composites increased with filler wt %. The 40 wt % composites exhibited mass attenuation coefficients of 122.68 and 93.02 cm2/g at photon energies of 5.895 and 6.490 keV, respectively, while the 50 wt % composites showed 1.57 and 0.092 cm2/g at photon energies of 59.54 and 662 keV, respectively. The effective atomic number quantifies the probability of interaction of radiation with matter. The effective atomic number of the composites calculated by the direct method was in good agreement with the theoretical value obtained from Auto-Zeff software. 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Quadratic convective transport of dusty Casson and dusty Carreau fluids past a stretched surface with nonlinear thermal radiation, convective condition and non-uniform heat source/sink
Here, the nonlinear convective transport of non-Newtonian fluids embedded with dust particles over a stretched surface is investigated. The silent features of non-Newtonian fluid are considered by Casson and Carreau fluid models. The heat transfer mechanism involves the influences of a magnetic dipole, nonlinear radiative heat and non-uniform heat source/sink. The convective condition is also retained at the boundary. The non-linear partial differential equations that model the transport phenomenon was transformed, non-dimensionalized and parameterized. The subsequent boundary value problems were computed numerically for distinct pertinent parameters using RungeKutta based shooting techniques. The present results are validated with the existing literature by direct comparison. The heat transfer rate in Casson/Carreau fluid phase is significantly higher than that of dust phase. 2019 Elsevier B.V. -
Cyanogenic glycosides: A sustainable carbon and nitrogen source for developing resilient Janus reversible oxygen electrocatalysts for metal-air batteries
Most of the transition metal based heteroatom doped carbon electrocatalysts, utilizes the fossil fuel derived commercially available precursors as source of nitrogen and carbon which may question our environmental generosity. Herein, we have developed Ni-based efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts using apple seeds (that contains cyanogenic glycosides) as the precursor for nitrogen and carbon. With tuning the temperature, we were able to optimize the nitrogen doping up to ?3 at.%. The optimized electrocatalyst catalyses the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) process with muted peroxide generation (for 0.7500.1 V the % HO2 ? generation ?3 - 2%), preferential 4e? reduction pathways (n ? 3.93 to 3.98 in 0.750.1 V range) and electron transfer via inner-sphere electron transfer mechanism which ensures the maximum utilization of instituted active centres owing to the direct interaction of reactant species. Alike to ORR, the superior oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance with smaller Eonset, EJ=10, Tafel slope and enduring accelerated stability test advocates its potential as a bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst. Moreover, smaller potential gap ?E (EJ10_OER - E1/2_ORR) of 0.845 V further warrants the energy efficient OER/ORR process. A porotype of Al-air battery system using our catalysts as oxygen electrode and chocolate wafer as anode material is well capable of powering the light emitting diodes. This study hopefully opens a new avenue to explore cyanogenic glycosides plants product to develop multifunctional electrocatalysts. 2019 Elsevier Ltd -

Effectiveness of Hall current and exponential heat source on unsteady heat transport of dusty TiO2-EO nanoliquid with nonlinear radiative heat
The problem of exponential heat source across a flowing nanofluid (TiO2-EO; titanium oxide-Engine oil) containing tiny dust particles on a deformable planar plate has been an open question in meteorology. In this paper, the boundary layer transient two-phase flow of dusty nanoliquid on an isothermal plate which is deforming with time-dependent velocity in the presence of exponential heat source is studied. The impacts of Hall current, nonlinear radiative heat and an irregular heat source (temperature based heat source and exponential space-based heat source) are also accounted. Dusty nanofluid is the composition of dust particles and nanoliquid (TiO2-EO). Using relevant transformations, the system of PDEs is rehabilitated to the system of ODEs and then treated numerically. Exploration of the impacts of pertinent parameters on velocity and temperature fields is performed via graphical illustrations. Numeric data for skin friction factor and the Nusselt number is presented and their characteristics are analyzed/quantified through the slope of linear regression via data points. 2019 Society for Computational Design and Engineering -

Research asset creation (RAC) model for PhD awarding universities in India
Importance of higher education and research is becoming more prominent and admission for PhD is increasing year by year in India. Most of the time Research done as part of PhD ends with the submission and acceptance of thesis in Universities. This research future work or extension work might be picked by other PhD candidate in the same or from the different Universities but not sure when it will happen. Also not sure the research completed has achieved its end objective and University is fine to stop that research after spending so much of time and resources of University. This paper insists on continuous research with PhD candidates every year in Universities until the completion of research and scope for reducing the waste of resources and time. This paper considers the importance and effectiveness of Indexing parameters, Indexing agencies, review methods, Journals and relevant concepts. Considering the usefulness and facts of the same to research community building a standard process with procedures to control quality, performance and original research in place, I have built a Research Asset Creation (RAC) model for universities offering PhDs in India by making use of University level Indexing, Indexing parameters, Inter and Intra University peer review methods and University Journal as magazine and as well as Indexing agency. Research cannot be considered just for the award of degree. There is a need for making use of research, resources of University and time spent on research till the objective of the research is accomplished. This can be accomplished by adopting Research Asset Creation model. Complete details of the model, components of the model, implementation, its benefits and usage is discussed in this paper. This is a generalized Model and fit for all Countries which are looking for effective use of research and resources in a progressive manner. BEIESP.
