Digital Revolution: Transforming the Tourism Business Landscape Post-Pandemic
Over the past decade, Indias travel and tourism sector has experienced consistent growth in terms of the volume of inbound, outbound, and domestic travelers. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 precipitated an economic downturn in the worldwide tourism industry. The tourism and hospitality industry encountered an unparalleled and unfavorable situation as a result of the governments implementation of travel restrictions and stringent quarantine regulations. Both leisure and business travelers were forced to cancel or delay their travel plans, which led to significant penalties for making last-minute changes to their reservations. Destinations around the globe have implemented unique strategies and elements to enhance their resilience in the aftermath of the pandemic. While a significant number of travel agents and tour operators incurred substantial financial losses, a select few recognized this situation as an opportunity and introduced a range of inventive products, along with implementing innovative marketing and promotion strategies. Quarantine stays, Untact Tourism, and Virtual Tourism are neologisms that have gained popularity in the aftermath of the pandemic. Travel businesses have integrated technology and proved to be digitally adaptive business entities. The objective of this study is to comprehend and assess the technology-embedded recovery strategies implemented by the tourism industry in the state of Kerala, located in South India, following the pandemic. The study conducted comprehensive interviews with distinguished travel and hospitality experts from the state. The collected data were utilized to analyze the repercussions of the pandemic on the travel industry in the state, as well as to evaluate the efficacy of the measures implemented by businesses after the pandemic in terms of generating revenue and rebuilding the reputation of the destination. An in-depth examination of the tourism and hospitality websites has proven valuable in comprehending the marketing tactics employed by the companies amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This is indeed an exciting prospect, as generative AI advances at breakneck speed. Need for the Study: This research delves upon the implications of such advancements for industries reliant on skilled employees. It raises questions about how these individuals will adjust their skillset going forward, given the proliferation of generative AI solutions poised to disrupt traditional roles previously occupied by humans. The Purpose of the Study is to examine the Political Marketing (PM) with regard to its Different Conceptualizations and Dimensions toward the Customer Value. Through an extensive literature review, the study has drawn meaning and dimensions of PM, and based on the literature, the study was able to conceptualize the meaning of Customer Value in the realm of PM. The study was able to address that PM in developing economies, as suggested in this paper, may be constrained by secrecy, lack of secondary data, and the relevance of this study depended on the leaders appearance and constant presence in social forums. Can Greenhouse Gas Emissions Be a Driving Factor for Economic Stability? An In-depth Study of D8 Nations
This chapter examines the relationship between greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and economic stability in D8 countries Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. It aims to assess whether emissions, particularly methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2), serve as economic indicators and how transitioning to renewable energy influences economic growth and environmental sustainability. The chapter employs statistical analysis using regression models to evaluate the impact of GHG emissions on key economic indicators such as gross domestic product (GDP), gross national income (GNI), inflation, and energy consumption. Data from the World Development Indicators (WDI) spanning 20012023 are utilized. The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) models are applied to examine the interplay between emissions and economic growth. Additionally, sectoral analysis is conducted to highlight the role of renewable energy and policy measures in mitigating emissions. The results indicate a complex relationship between emissions and economic stability. Methane and nitrous oxide emissions exhibit a significant correlation with economic performance, whereas CO2 emissions show mixed effects. Countries investing in renewable energy, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, demonstrate improved economic resilience while reducing emissions. AI for Fair Recruitment: Balancing Tech and Ethics
Purpose: This chapter's objective is to examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is influencing the development of human resource management (HRM) systems, focusing on recruiting, developing employees, and increasing the diversity of the workforce by reducing bias. Design-methodology-approach: The investigation adopted a two-phase research strategy. First, bibliometric analysis of AI-HRM evidence received attention from most scholars indicating major topics of concern within the AI and HRM corpus. Second, a systematic literature review (SLR) based on these themes and applied focus key strings and PRISMA protocols to ensure satisfactory efforts in locating and discussing the relevant literature. Findings: The bibliometric analysis suggested three points of interest that are popular in the literature: AI in recruitment and diversity, employee development, and bias reduction. These programs can be used from mere training employees to including operational supervision and engagement. The case studies featured some well-known brands such as Unilever, Accenture, and IBM. The results indicate a possibility that AI will assist in the advancement of HRM processes, foster diversity, and inclusiveness and even bias-free recruitment and development of employees.
