Mimicking technology in creating and optimising marketing value, customer experience, retention and loyalty
Marketing has evolved from 1.0 to 5.0, which emphasises the utilisation of technologies that mimic human behaviour to generate, convey, distribute and improve value throughout the customer experience. The primary technologies employed in Marketing 5.0 include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), mixed reality (MR, which encompasses augmented reality [AR] and virtual reality [VR]), Sensors and Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain. In today's technologically learnt marketplace, these technologies support firms to imitate the human interaction with customers. Technology plays a crucial role in enhancing marketing results and aids in various aspects. This chapter delves into the conceptual grasp of integrating technology into the realm of marketing, a concept coined by Philip Kotler as 'Marketing 5.0'. Additionally, it incorporates an in-depth review of the existing literature on the diverse tools and strategies employed by various organisations to navigate the ever-evolving and fiercely competitive marketplace. Furthermore, this section will be expanded to include real-world cases of both successes and failures, with thorough explanations, pertaining to the human-centric technological approaches embraced by firms. This chapter also includes a proposed model to understand the impact of usage of such technologies by marketers on the prospective customers and consumers. The outcomes of the research carry both theoretical implications for academicians and the managerial implications for marketers to incorporate mimicking technology for customer experience, loyalty and retention. 2025 Kiran Vazirani and Sunanda Vincent Jaiwant. Mind and Nature: Study on Mental Health, Nature Connectedness, Pro-Nature Conservation Behaviors and Geographical Green Cover among Indian Adults
For centuries the relation between mind and nature has been represented through literature, songs and cultural traditions. However with increasing urgency of the climate crisis and the corresponding growing distance between humans and nature, we find very limited scientific work exploring their relationship, which could perhaps help re-bridge the connection between the two. A significant, yet not directly observable, and often overlooked impact of the climate crisis is its impact on mental health. This study looks at this relationship in the Indian context, through a relatively unexplored perspective, by investigating the effects of nature connectedness (NC), pro-nature conservation behaviours (ProCoB) and geographical green cover (GGC) on mental health (MH) among middle-aged adults residing in India, and the existing inter-relationships. 180 middle-aged Indian adults, selected through purposive and snowball sampling, from across 21 states and 2 Union Territories (UTs), were administered questionnaires through a Google form. Their data was collected and scored, and the GGC was calculated for each state/ UT from the India State of Forest Report 2021. Correlation and Regression analysis were conducted on the scores using SPSS. A positive and statistically significant correlation exists between the variables NC, ProCoB and MH; NC, MH and GGC; and NC and ProCoB. NC and ProCoB predict MH. Gardening also predicts MH. The findings are new and contribute to the field of Environmental Psychology. It provides a scientific basis for the often romanticized relationship between man and nature as found in literature. It has great implications for the future, such as increasing awareness and understanding, and planning interventions to improve both environment and wellbeing. 2024 selection and editorial matter, Dr. Sundeep Katevarapu, Dr. Anand Pratap Singh, Dr. Priyanka Tiwari, Ms. Akriti Varshney, Ms. Priya Lanka, Ms. Aankur Pradhan, Dr. Neeraj Panwar, Dr. Kumud Sapru Wangnue; individual chapters, the contributors. -

Mind of a portfolio investor: Which strategies should I use as a basis for my investment decisions
It is smart for investors to plan for a drop that may be accompanied by a recession in the late stages of a bull market. The authors examine a variety of passive and active strategies, as well as their success in different crises. However, while choosing the best of strategies in the worst of circumstances, investors must be cautious in defining 'best.' It's critical to comprehend not only the long-term performance but also the whole cost of putting various preventive measures in place. The authors analyse popular strategies like technical analysis, fundamental analysis, relying on financial news, seeking professional advice, tips from trade experts, and self-intuition while making portfolios. Our findings indicate that every investment is unique. Some defensive methods will be more effective than others in each case. As a result, diversification across several viable strategies may be the wisest course of action. 2023, IGI Global. All rights reserved. -
Mind-Set In Mathematics Learning : Role of Teacher-Student Interaction on Student Engagement, Wellbeing and Achievemrent
Mathematics learning is an integral part of the school curriculum. Children learn basic concepts in mathematics and then gradually reach the abstract level. Challenges in mathematics learning are largely observed after grade seven. Students may show disinterest towards the subject due to several reasons including past learning experiences, teacher-student interaction (TSI), anxiety and self-efficacy levels. If the students cannot connect what they learn, it impacts their interaction in the classroom, and it acts as a reason for losing interest. The literature review reveals the importance of mathematics anxiety, self-efficacy, and utility value and contribute to the construct of mind-set. Student engagement is influenced by mind-set in mathematics learning and TSI, and predicts achievement and wellbeing. The study adopts a mixed-method design with the qualitative study aiming to support the quantitative study and strengthen the validity of the results. The quantitative study sample consists of 774 eighth graders from various English medium schools in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The qualitative phase seeks to determine the students' perception of mathematics learning through their classroom experiences among 17 students using semi-structured interviews. The tested conceptual model shows an excellent fit. It shows mind-set in mathematics affects TSI, influences student engagement and leads to student-wellbeing. There was no indirect effect for the achievement and other variables. The findings related to the open-ended questions indicate the importance of teachers and content. There is a lack of understanding among students about the practical application of the learning content. The thematic analysis results provided five main themes: student attributes, teacher attributes, classroom environment, content-related and utility value. Integration of the findings leads to the importance of TSI and student engagement in the mathematics classroom. Also, the connection between variables related to mathematics learning and student wellbeing. The results of the study have important implications for developing engaging pedagogies. -

Mindfulness in treatment-seeking adults with comorbid obsessive-compulsive and major depressive disorders: Mediating effects of obsessive beliefs and mental well-being
Background: Mindfulness-based interventions have shown promise in alleviating symptoms associated with obsessive?compulsive disorder (OCD) and major depressive disorder (MDD). However, the specific mechanisms that drive these effects, mainly through obsessive beliefs and mental well?being, are seldom examined. Aim: To explore the mechanisms by which mindfulness influences symptom severity in adults with comorbid OCD and MDD, focusing on the mediating roles of obsessive beliefs and mental well-being. Methods: Primary data from 60 treatment-seeking adults with comorbid OCD and MDD were analyzed. Ordinary least-squares path analysis was employed to examine the mediating roles of obsessive beliefs and mental well-being in the relationship between mindfulness and the severity of OCD and MDD symptoms. Results: Mindfulness was significantly associated with reduced symptom severity for both OCD (? = ? 0.40, P < 0.001) and MDD (? = ? 0.49, P < 0.001). For MDD, obsessive beliefs (? = ? 0.20, P < 0.001) and mental well?being (? = ? 0.33, P < 0.001) significantly mediated the relationship. In contrast, no significant indirect effects were observed for OCD symptoms through obsessive beliefs (? = ? 0.10, P = 0.16) or mental well?being (? = ? 0.08, P = 0.20). Conclusion: These findings highlight the distinct mechanisms of mindfulness in comorbid OCD and MDD, underscoring the importance of customized interventions based on specific pathways. 2025 Indian Journal of Psychiatry. -

Mindfulness-based relapse preventionA meta-analysis
Addiction is of varied types and over the years the focus has not only been on the growing issues of addiction but also on how to prevent relapse on recovering clients. According to Buddhist teaching craving is the cause of suffering and suffering festers itself due to attachment. Once an individual is enlightened he will be able to find a path that ceases such suffering. Mindfulness helps bring about such enlightenment through being conscious and reflective of every moments experience. Mindfulness does not stop at being aware alone but extends its teaching to accepting such experiences as they are and letting go. Relapse prevention has long been researched on and new therapies developed to facilitate the same. This conceptual paper looks at how Mindfulness-based relapse prevention therapy works to prevent relapses. The paper focuses on understanding each of the eight-week therapy process and how it progresses in changing thoughts and reducing stress. The paper shows how Mindfulness-based relapse prevention helps clients understand their craving and how to change thoughts in order to deal with a craving thus preventing relapse. 2019, 2019 The Author(s). Mindfulness-based strengths practice: a conceptual framework and empirical review of the literature
This review set out to provide empirical literature on mindfulness-based strengths practice (MBSP), a new approach in positive psychology that integrates mindfulness with character strengths, two positive predictors of well-being. First, the conceptualization of integrating character strengths and mindfulness into MBSP is discussed. The literature on the interrelatedness of character strengths and mindfulness is then described, along with ways that the intervention of MBSP encourages positive outcomes at various levels. The literature search returned 7 (10 samples, N = 3,851) studies supporting a positive association between character strengths and mindfulness (r = 0.30.4) and the mediating role of character strengths/virtues in mindfulness and mindfulnesss role in enhancing character strengths toward psychological well-being. The nine MBSP intervention studies (9 samples, N = 354) conducted in diverse contexts provide evidence of a significant improvement in well-being, engagement, life satisfaction, mindfulness, positive affect, character strengths, work-related outcomes, heightened birthing parents well-being during pregnancy and childbirth, increased academic performance, and enhanced mental health among students. The intervention studies also reported the fostering of mindful positive parenting and contributions to a significant reduction in negative psychological states, such as stress, depression, anxiety, and negative affect. This comprehensive review provides empirical support for the MBSP framework and its positive impact on well-being across various domains, including organizations, education, healthcare, and family. However, it underscores the need for more extensive research, as the current literature on MBSP is limited. The review encourages future studies to explore MBSP applications in diverse domains, thereby paving the way for a deeper understanding of its potential benefits. 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. -
Mindfulness: An emotional aid to the glass ceiling experiences
We have progressed to a phase where there is very little difference between men and women, but the reality in many countries is that women are looked down as the inferior gender and not given career opportunities to explore. They are not let into the decision-making roles at the organization even when they have an equal qualification, experience and skill. They are placed low in the hierarchy which allows them to witness the functions at the higher level of the organization but restricts them from participating in them. There are a lot of factors like cultural, socio-demographic factors and society itself that influence this disparity in the organization. These contributory factors create the glass ceiling phenomenon at the workplace, thereby generating emotional and psychological imbalances in women employees. This is a conceptual paper aiming to explore the concept and impact of mindfulness, and various concepts of mindfulness could be used as an emotional aid to treat the psychological effects of the glass ceiling. It further explains some of the mindful concepts like mindful walking, mindful life and mindfulness-based stress reduction technique in treating some of the psychological and emotional issues like depression, anxiety, frustration, traumatic experiences, adjustment issues, addiction, stress, low self-esteem, low self-confidence and aggression. It also elucidates adopting mindfulness techniques in real organizational scenarios where women are constantly discriminated because of their gender and opportunities are taken away. 2021 The Author(s). Mindlessness by design: how digital platforms shape the psychological, behavioral and civic experiences of Generation Z
Purpose This paper aims to examine how digital platform architectures shape the psychological, behavioral and civic experiences of Generation Z. It challenges deficit-based views of mindlessness, situating distraction, procrastination and diminished attention within the structural logics of the attention economy rather than individual failure. Design/methodology/approach This commentary synthesizes illustrative and representative evidence from psychological, cognitive, sociological and policy literatures across Indian and global contexts to advance a conceptual account of platform-induced mindlessness as a socio-technical phenomenon, rather than undertaking a systematic or exhaustive review. Findings Excessive smartphone use, algorithmic personalization and media multitasking erode attentional control, academic performance and emotional resilience while weakening face-to-face interaction and civic participation. These patterns reflect engagement-maximization strategies embedded in digital infrastructures and mark a shift from situational distraction to structurally conditioned cognition. Originality/value By reframing mindlessness as a systemic rather than moral issue, this paper advances the concept of structural accountability in digital life. It calls for reforms in platform governance, digital literacy and public policy to promote psychological well-being and civic inclusion through collective and interdisciplinary responsibility. 2026 Emerald Publishing Limited -
