Indian women and empowerment: A Kleinian approach
The idea of women empowerment is often understood through the varied social contexts of individuals. There have been many attempts in understanding this notion among Western Educated Industrialized Rich and Democratic (WEIRD) women. A similar exploratory trajectory is seldom found in non-WEIRD samples of women especially those from South East Asian collectivistic cultures. The present study attempts to explore the concept of empowerment among middle-aged women from collectivistic cultures, who are often subjected to benevolent sexism from a social constructivist position. The paper would emphasize notions about the empowerment of ordinary women, particularly with regard to their occupational status. The discussion would be positioned in the cultural context of the Indian subcontinent where gender roles, norms and expectations define the concept of empowerment among women. A psychodynamic Kleinian approach involving object relations is adopted to elaborate on the occupational position of the participants where their interpersonal dynamics are explored. Surfactant-Guided Synthesis of Mn?O? Nanostructures for Photocatalytic, Photoelectrochemical Applications and Sustainable Water Reuse
Currently, the global community is confronting water contamination from several sources, which poses significant environmental challenges. The reutilisation of polluted water constitutes a feasible strategy for sustainable wastewater management. In the present study, Mn3O4 was synthesised via chemical precipitation using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and glycine as surfactants and without any surfactants. The synthesised Mn3O4 using Glycine(MNG) showed the best photocatalytic efficacy compared to other synthesised materials, about 93 0.35% disintegration of Rhodamine B in 150min when illuminated with visible light. The progress of photodegradation was in conformity with the pseudo-first-order kinetic model with a velocity of 0.017min?1. Photoelectrochemical investigations assessed charge transfer, stability, and light-harvesting behaviour of Mn3O4 catalysts, showing their improved performance beyond photocatalysis. Seed germination in the treated water, controlled and uncontrolled conditions, was compared to ensure the agricultural and environmental viability. Additionally, ~ 84.54% of total organic carbon removal was achieved. A conceivable degradation mechanism was suggested after the degraded intermediates were examined using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and the elution patterns and retention periods. Accessing Accurate Documents by Mining Auxiliary Document Information
Earlier techniques of text mining included algorithms like k-means, Nae Bayes, SVM which classify and cluster the text document for mining relevant information about the documents. The need for improving the mining techniques has us searching for techniques using the available algorithms. This paper proposes one technique which uses the auxiliary information that is present inside the text documents to improve the mining. This auxiliary information can be a description to the content. This information can be either useful or completely useless for mining. The user should assess the worth of the auxiliary information before considering this technique for text mining. In this paper, a combination of classical clustering algorithms is used to mine the datasets. The algorithm runs in two stages which carry out mining at different levels of abstraction. The clustered documents would then be classified based on the necessary groups. The proposed technique is aimed at improved results of document clustering. 2015 IEEE. -
Magnetic field and light dependant supercapacitor behaviours of Mn3O4-rGO hybrid nanocomposites
Recently, hybrid nanostructures have been very promising candidates for energy generation and storage applications in nanotechnology. Here, Manganese Oxide (Mn3O4) decorated reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets hybrid composite was synthesised in chemical methods. The hybrid nanocomposite shows supercapacitance performance under a magnetic field and light irradiation. The magnetoelectrochemistry behaviour of the material was studied by varying external magnetic fields and the charge storage behaviours depending on the magnetic field. Additionally, the charge storage behaviour also changes under visible light irradiation. Interestingly, 82% enhancement is obtained under visible light. Therefore the present work gives a new pathway to understand the charge storage behaviour under light and magnetic fields. Qatar University and Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024. -
Ableisms Impact on Body and Identity in Indra Sinhas Animals People
This study explores the link between ableism and identity formation through the discourse analysis of Indra Sinhas Animals People (2007). Set against the backdrop of a post-industrial disaster, the Bhopal gas tragedy in an Indian metropolis, the novel provides a powerful narrative about the marginalised. By analysing the social perceptions and structures that define ability, normalcy, and physical beauty, the study investigates how societal norms and cultural attitudes frame the protagonists experiences of exclusion and identity crisis. The study further investigates how the novel critiques the broader social and cultural dimensions of ableism in post-colonial contexts, revealing the intersection of power, disability, and identity in the social fabric of Asian societies. Social constructionist perspectives provide a framework for comprehending the social construction of disability, stigma, othering of disabled bodies, and cultural norms of beauty, normalcy, ability, and identity. Subjective and objective realities are discussed around the character, Animal. Ageing with Disability and Family Dynamics: A Social Constructionist Reading of Rohinton Mistrys Family Matter
This article examines how disability and ageing intersect within family structures and cultural expectations, foregrounding the role of ableism and ageism in shaping individual and collective experience. By examining Rohinton Mistrys Family Matters through the frameworks of social constructionism and ageism, the research underscores how age and disability are socially constructed and often associated with dependency and burden. Through the character of Nariman Vakeel, who experiences the dual challenges of old age and physical disability, this article critically examines how disability and ageing shape his health and wellbeing, access to care, and reliance on family and community support. The analysis highlights the ethics of caregiving and family responsibility, encouraging more inclusive and empathetic approaches to ageing and disability across cultural and familial contexts. Mistrys narrative mirrors real-world dynamics of care, responsibility, and economic burden within families. By situating Family Matters within broader discourses on ageing with disability, this article contributes to the growing field of interdisciplinary ageing studies and underscores the value of literature as a cultural text that reflects and critiques social realities. The study emphasises the importance of intergenerational understanding, encouraging families to recognise the emotional and social value of the elderly beyond their physical limitations. Building a resilient future: collaborative sustainability regulation
The challenge of sustainability lies in achieving a balance between satisfying present needs and protecting resources for future generations with an emphasis on its three pillars - environmental, social and governance. This study explored sustainable development encompassing environmental, social and governance aspects along with sustainability reporting through various sustainability frameworks. A systematic review of literature for the period 2010-23 on major worldwide sustainability frameworks was conducted, by offering insights into enhancing reporting mechanisms for a sustainable future. Secondary data related to sustainability reports were obtained from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and International Integrated Reporting Council, which helped in examining sector and year variations across countries. The results reflected that mandatory sustainability disclosures help to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and global sustainability frameworks help to set standards, disseminate information and promote transparency. Collaboration of investment, company action and sustainability organizations can lead to a sustainable global economy. The adoption of sustainability reporting can help organizations by fostering a proper understanding of sustainability practices, improving transparency and identifying potential business opportunities in sectors with lower sustainability. The paper provided insights into sustainability reporting published across various countries in both advanced as well as emerging and developing economies. AI-Enabled Brand-to-Generic Medication Recommendation System for Pharmacy: Addressing Consumer Brand-Name Bias
In countries like India, many people choose branded medicines over equally effective generic options, which drives up healthcare costs. This paper introduces a smart recommendation system that can tell whether a medication query is about a brand-name or a generic drug. It then offers more affordable alternatives based on the active ingredients. By using natural language processing and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with a detailed medicine database, the system accurately classifies and recommends options. Its conversational interface mimics a real pharmacy interaction, helping users make informed choices while saving money. Tests show the system responds quickly, usually within 7 seconds, and provides accurate answers over 80 % of the time for straightforward queries. Ultimately, this tool addresses the information gaps about generic drugs and branded ones and is easy to use for both consumers and pharmacists. 2026 IEEE. -
Are the determinants of foreign direct investment the same within the service sector? Evidence from bootstrap based bias corrected fixed effects model
Using sectoral as well as subsectoral foreign direct investments (FDI) data, we explore the determinants of FDI in services at both sectoral and sub-sector levels of 25 emerging economies for the period 19992016. We employ a bootstrap-based bias-corrected fixed effects model to analyze whether FDI's determinants vary within the service sector. Our results show that market size, market potential, natural resources endowments, and agglomeration effects are positively associated with the FDI in services and its subsectoral levels. The sectoral disaggregated analysis shows that the variables that attract FDI in services do not vary much from financial to nonfinancial services. This study suggests that there is no need for a separate theory for explaining FDI determinants in financial and nonfinancial services though some modifications are to be made. Before making modifications, we have to consider the salient features of service sector FDI, such as intangibility, inseparability, perishability, heterogeneity, and commercial presence. 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd. -
Testing for the Bidirectional Relationship Between FDI in Services and Trade in Services: Evidence from Emerging Economies
We examine the two-way links between foreign direct investments (FDI) in services and trade in services for 26 emerging economies from 2003 to 2015 using sectoral and sectoral disaggregated FDI data. Within a multivariate framework, we use panel unit root tests, recently developed heterogeneous panel cointegration and panel vector error correction model (VECM). Our results confirmed the cointegrating relationship between trade in services, FDI in services, financial services FDI and nonfinancial services FDI. We find the existence of long-run unidirectional causality from trade in services to FDI in services. However, the disaggregated analysis shows a bidirectional link between nonfinancial services FDI and trade in services in the short run. Still, there is no causality between financial services FDI and trade in services both in the short run and long run. The result also shows the evidence of unidirectional causality running from trade in services to nonfinancial services FDI in the long run. Study of Transport Characteristics using Impedance Spectroscopy and Memristor Property Analysis of Protonated Polyaniline-WO3 Nanocomposite
Polyaniline-WO3 nanocomposite was synthesized through in-situ chemical polymerization. The structural properties are studied by using XRD and FESEM characterization. The XRD results confirmed the presence of crystalline WO3 nanoparticles in the polymer nanocomposite structure. FESEM images confirmed the sheet-like structure with heterojunction of WO3 nanoparticles and polyaniline matrix. The transport properties of the synthesized nanocomposites are studied using impedance spectroscopy analysis. The complex impedance analysis conducted using the Nyquist plot and equivalent circuit model of the nanocomposites are simulated using ZSimpWin software. The major conduction mechanism in the material is found to be grain boundary effect and the grain boundary conduction parameters are calculated. The polyaniline-WO3 nanocomposite with WO3 doping concentration of 15% has exhibited better sensing characteristics towards the target VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) 3-Carene, a breath-based biomarker for malaria. The memristor sensor model of the polyaniline nanocomposite with 15% of WO3 is simulated using MATLAB-Simulink. Engineering CoMn2O? nanofibers: Enhancing one-dimensional electrode materials for high-performance supercapacitors
One-dimensional CoMn2O4 nanofibers were developed via the electrospinning method, offers a novel approach for designing electrode materials for energy storage device -supercapacitors. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) with EDX confirmed the highly porous CoMn2O4 phase with desired composition. Elemental mapping studies confirmed uniform distribution of Co, Mn, and O elements throughout the nanofibers.Electrochemical studies underscored the crucial role of structural voids and spacing in enhancing energy storage capacity, establishing CoMn2O4 as a promising electrode material. Specific energy and power studies yielded remarkable results of 93.84 Whr/kg and 55.20 kW/kg, respectively. Additionally, specific capacitance determination returned 937.42 F/g, indicating exceptional charging and discharging performance over 1000 cycles with 93.3 % capacitance retention. Moreover, the flexible symmetric supercapacitor is expected to demonstrate exceptional flexibility and electrochemical stability, achieving a specific energy of 232 Wh/kg and a specific power of 84 kW/kg at a current density of 1 mA/cm. One dimensional NiMn2O4 nanofibrous architectures for symmetric supercapacitor device
In this study, NiMn2O4 nanofibers are synthesized using an electrospinning method. The NiMn2O4 nanofiber films, coated on stainless-steel substrates, are electrochemically characterized in different electrolytes, including KCl, KOH, NaOH, and Na2SO4. The study explores how the choice of electrolyte influences the specific capacitance, galvanostatic charge-discharge behavior, cycle stability, and capacitance retention of the NiMn2O4 nanofiber electrodes. NiMn2O4 electrodes in KOH exhibit superior performance at a scan rate of 5 mV/s, with an areal capacitance of 2125 F/g. The higher capacitance in KOH is attributed to its high ionic conductivity and efficient ion mobility. Additionally, the NiMn2O4 nanofiber electrodes demonstrate excellent cycle stability, with 76.38 % capacitance retention in 1 M KOH. These results suggest that 1D NiMn2O4 nanofiber electrodes deliver superior electrochemical performance in KOH compared to other aqueous electrolytes, highlighting their potential for future electrochemical energy storage applications. Furthermore, the flexible symmetric supercapacitor device shows excellent flexibility and electrochemical stability, with specific energy of 660 Wh/kg and specific power of 140 kW/kg obtained at a current density of 2 mA/cm2. These findings indicate that 1D NiMn2O4 nanofibers, particularly in 1 M KOH, are promising candidates for high-performance supercapacitor applications, paving the way for advancements in electrochemical energy storage devices. 2025 Elsevier B.V. -

Hybrid Intrusion Detection Technique for Internet of Things
The rapid expansion and integration of Internet of Things (IoT) applications in newlinevarious aspects of daily life has significantly surprised and impacted contemporary society. The most crucial keyword concerning these applications is security, specifically, in the enormous amount of data generated every second, and how it is used. These applications are vulnerable to various attacks, which could result in an unthinkable catastrophe if not managed and controlled with sufficient foresight. Growing concerns about data security in the expanding IoT landscape are driven by factors such as increased vulnerability of devices to viruses, susceptibility to denial-of-service attacks, and heightened risk of intrusion attempts. To prevent such occurrences, stronger precautions should be taken, enabling system developers and manufacturers of IoT devices to enhance their approaches to better security mitigation. It is essential to identify all potential threats and vulnerabilities that are created explicitly for IoT infrastructures. It is believed that to lessen potential dangers, there is a need for more significant research on security attacks. Security difficulties have been found and must be dealt with, so they may be avoided. Further research must address security challenges in IoT-based environments, particularly for suppliers and consumers, to gradually raise the reliability of IoT applications. Although many conventional methods are still used, there might be superior options for devices with limited resources. Artificial intelligence plays a significant role in this issue. newlineThis research first tries to comprehend how machine learning methods relate to attack newlinedetection. The effects of different machine learning techniques are evaluated using the newlineUNSW-NB 15 dataset. Additionally, it has been found that each model performs worse overall, mainly when security issues are present. As a result, real-time datasets and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms for intrusion detection in the IoT need to be prioritized. -
Iodine Mediated Oxidative Cross-Coupling of Benzo[d]Imidazo[2,1-b]Thiazoles with Ethylbenzene: An Unprecedented Approach of C3-Dicarbonylation
A versatile approach of iodine mediated C3-dicarbonylation of benzo[d]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazoles (IBTs) with ethylbenzene has been reported. The reaction conditions were optimized by screening in various solvents, catalysts, and oxidants.
