Persistent Luminescence and in Vivo Bioimaging
In vivo bioimaging encompasses the non-invasive visualization of internal cells or organs within the human body, facilitating the real-time monitoring of dynamic biological processes. This form of bioimaging holds paramount significance within clinical domains due to its capacity to facilitate early disease detection, notably in cases of life-threatening conditions such as cancer. Although established imaging modalities like ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and fluorescence imaging exist, the quest for innovative imaging probes with enhanced visibility to provide high-resolution images remains an active area of research. The introduction of persistent luminescent nanoprobes, characterized by their unique afterglow luminescence property, presents an exciting avenue in the realm of bioimaging. These nanoprobes offer several advantages over traditional fluorescent probes, notably in their ability to surmount light attenuation challenges within biological tissues including issues such as autofluorescence and light scattering. The chapter offers a succinct introduction to two pivotal facets of fluorescence imaging, namely persistent luminescence and upconversion luminescence while elucidating the underlying mechanisms governing their luminescence behavior. Moreover, this chapter provides comprehensive insights into various fluorescence imaging techniques, encompassing near-infrared imaging, upconversion imaging, X-ray-activated luminescence imaging, persistent luminescence imaging, and various multimodal imaging techniques. Personal fableness and perception of risk behaviors among adolescents
Adolescence is a crucial period where one tends to identify who they are as an individual. However, as a teenager is struggling to find his/her place in this world, it is also a time where they are prone to engaging in risk behaviors, which tend to have an extreme psychological impact. The objective was to explore the experiences of an adolescent who engages in risk behaviors and to understand their level of personal fables. The study was a qualitative design with content analysis with semi-structured interviews of ten male adolescents aged 16-18 years. The major findings of the study indicated that adolescents pattern of thinking revolves around the fact that they are invincible and invulnerable. Furthermore, adolescents are aware of the risks they are putting themselves through and how in the process they are hurting others. The implications of the study are to conduct more life skill programs in schools; greater awareness has to be created on the impact and harmful effects of such behaviors. 2018, Indian Journal of Public Health Research and Development. Personality Traits and Financial Literacy: Impact on Equity Investment Intention among Planters in India
This paper examines the relationship of personality and financial aspects toward investment intentions among Indian planters, including long-term and short-term investment decisions. This quantitative study is based on a random survey of 568 planters for the role of Openness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, Neuroticism, financial knowledge, financial skills, and financial attitudes. The findings indicate that Extraversion and financial knowledge are significant predictors of risk perception, mediating their influence on investment intentions. Planters with a higher level of financial literacy and an extroverted personality are more likely to perceive risk appropriately, making better investment decisions. Agreeableness was insignificant concerning risk perception, while Openness positively correlated with short-term investment decisions. The findings demonstrate that risk perception acts as a meaningful force towards LTI and STII since planters with the capability to perceive risk appropriately tend to make better decisions in investment. In addition, these results support the idea of financial education's importance in influencing investment behaviour. Such financial literacy programs, targeted towards improving the ability of farmers to assess risk and investment strategies, will be the initiative of the highest priority to bring about better financial outcomes in the Indian agricultural context. In this regard, this research will add knowledge of psychological and financial factors that impact investment decisions in India, and it will provide valuable insights into building an effective financial literacy program to target the enhancement of the investment strategies of planters in the Indian market. 2025, Iquz Galaxy Publisher. Personalized Explainable Transformer Models for Student Performance Prediction
The research presents a unified framework for forecasting student academic achievement using a transformer-based architecture supported by Explainable Artificial Intelligence techniques. The research is motivated by the need to combine predictive accuracy of transformer models with interpretability in student performance prediction. The framework applies an adapted Feature Tokenizer Transformer to the UCI Student Performance dataset and integrates SHAP and LIME methods to generate instance level, human readable explanations for each prediction. These explanations can help educators design targeted interventions. A Random Forest regressor is included as a baseline for comparison. The experiment results showed that the Random Forest performed slightly better than the Feature Tokenizer Transformer, which could be due to the small size of the dataset and certain features having a strong impact on the results. Nevertheless, the results show that modern deep learning models combined with personalized explainability offer a practical foundation for scalable solutions in more complex educational datasets, which helps connect high performing prediction models with actionable insights, contributing to the development of interpretable, data driven student support systems. 2025 IEEE. -

Personalized Medicine Recommendation Through Genomics AI
Every individual is genetically different. This highlights the importance of exploring the possibility of personalized medicine tailored for each persons unique genetic profile. Due to this genetic variability, people have varied responses to the same medication. Thus, it is all the more necessary to withdraw from traditional medication and adopt personalized medicine. Using genomic data analysis techniques, healthcare specialists will be able to distinguish the minute genetic differences to produce unique therapies for each patient. This paper traverses the development of an algorithm to integrate the patients genomic data with his medical history. Personalized treatment can be recommended based on the inferences using genomic AI. These insights derived from the algorithm can be scrutinized by decision support systems. This step ensures the reliability of the prescribed personalized treatment and confidence of patients on the medication. Each time the model predicts medication compositions and dosages using genomic data, it becomes more accurate improving therapeutic results. PERSONALIZED SLEEP SIGNATURE: A NOVEL APPROACH TO UNVEIL PAEDIATRIC SLEEP BEHAVIOUR WITH TRANSFORMER ATTENTION MECHANISM AND GRAPH ATTENTION NETWORKS
Sleep disorders manifest differently across individuals, making accurate diagnosis and treatment highly complex. Even within the same diagnosis, there can be variation in sleep architecture among patients, which makes generalization across people difficult. Traditional sleep analysis methods rely on manual scoring and fixed diagnostic criteria, which fail to capture subject-specific variability in sleep patterns. To address this, we propose a data-driven Personalized Sleep Signature (PSS) approach that learns individualized sleep behaviour using AI models. This study introduces the PSS framework, combining Transformer-based Attention and Graph Attention Networks (GATs) to model nuanced sleep characteristics. We utilize the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Sleep Data, a paediatric Polysomnography (PSG) dataset containing EEG and physiological parameters such as ocular movements, EMG activity, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. From this, we extract sleep epoch features and demographics to form Sleep Signature Groups that reflect common behavioural patterns. Unlike conventional classification, our method captures personal variability and delivers individualized sleep hygiene guidance. The model achieved 94% accuracy in detecting sleep patterns, outperforming traditional methods. Beyond clinical applications, it can be integrated with wearable sensors (e.g., Fitbit, Oura, Apple Watch) to personalize wake/sleep routines and environments. It also enables early detection of sleep disorders and aligns daily schedules with individual chronotypes to enhance well-being. By focusing on sleep behaviour rather than rigid diagnostic categories, this approach supports non-pharmacological, personalized interventions backed by scientific evidence. Our work opens the door to precision sleep medicine, offering actionable insights for clinicians, researchers, and technology innovators. Little Lion Scientific. -
Persons With Disabilities: A Critical Analysis of India's Right-Based Approach
Disability is a challenging issue across the globe, as almost 16% of the global population has some kind of disability. India, the most populous country in the world, also faces the severity of disability issues as 2.2% of its population belongs to that group. For a good period, Indian society considered disability as a curse in the context of karma theory. Accordingly, the disabled faced discrimination, marginalization, and social exclusion. Though the Constitution guaranteed equal rights, India's approach towards disabled was mostly based on charitable contributions for their rehabilitation rather than a rights-based approach. But in line with the paradigm shift in the global approach, the Indian perspective also changed, underlining the rights of the disabled. Many policies were designed to give them access to the mainstream of the society, but India lacks adequate strategies for implementing these policies. 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing. Perspective of multiple slips on 3D flow of Al2O3TiO2CuO/H2O ternary nanofluid past an extending surface due to non-linear thermal radiation
A mathematical model is constructed under the slip flow of a Newtonian fluid based on certain assumptions. Such a mathematical model of ternary nanofluid flow is handled by invoking similarity solutions for governing equations. The obtained system of nonlinear equations is solved numerically by utilizing the fourth-fifth order RungeKutta-Fehlberg method. The consequences of distinguished parameters on fluid flow are analyzed in detail through the plotted graphic visuals. Physical quantities such as Nusselt number and skin-fraction coefficient are considered numerically by tables. The results indicated that the mixed convection parameter favors the flow whereas the x-direction velocity slip reduces the velocity. Furthermore, it is observed that the temperature of the nanofluid is increased for the higher values of radiation. The presence of a heat source enhances the temperature and that of a heat sink diminishes the temperature. It is found that the heat conduction capability is more in ternary nanofluid than the hybrid and monophase nanofluids. 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. -
Perspectives about Illness, Attitudes, and Caregiving Experiences among Siblings of Persons with Schizophrenia: A Qualitative Analysis
Background: Siblings of persons diagnosed with schizophrenia (SPS) are one among the major sources of support for persons with schizophrenia. There is a dearth of psychosocial literature on SPS in India. This qualitative study explored the perspectives about the illness, attitudes, and caregiving experiences of SPS. Materials and Methods: Qualitative audio-recorded interviews were conducted with 15 SPS, purposively selected from a tertiary mental health hospital of Southern India. A general inductive approach was adopted to analyze the qualitative data. Results: Four broad themes were identified from qualitative data analysis. (1) SPS described several explanatory models of mental illness in terms of causal attributions and treatment care. (2) They had expressed emotion toward their ill siblings, such as criticality, hostility, and emotional over-involvement. (3) They experienced objective and subjective burden while caring for their ill sibling. In spite of all these, (4) they were part of their ill siblings' care in terms of ensuring regular follow-ups and drug adherence and supported their livelihood. They coped up with adaptive as well as maladaptive strategies. Conclusion: SPS provide significant support to their affected siblings. However, they do have non-biomedical models of mental illness and negative attitudes toward patients and experience burden. Hence, psychosocial interventions may help SPS while caregiving for their affected siblings. 2019 Indian Psychiatric Society - South Zonal Branch. -
