Can LLMs Reliably Predict Personality Traits Through Prompt Engineering? Introducing Expert-Chain-Hypothesis Prompting
The prediction of personality traits from natural language is a long-standing challenge at the intersection of artificial intelligence and psychology. Traditional approaches have largely relied on handcrafted features, custom labelled datasets, supervised learning models or pretrained embeddings. However, relatively fewer studies have explored the potential of large language models (LLMs) through prompt engineering. This study investigates the capability of LLMs to reliably predict the Big Five personality traits from unstructured textual input using prompt-based methods. We introduce Expert-Chain-Hypothesis prompting, a psychology informed prompting technique that mirrors the decision making workflow of human experts within LLMs. Using the Essays dataset, we evaluate zero-shot prompting, few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought prompting and the proposed method on GPT - 4o. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed prompting technique achieves superior overall performance; with a macro F1 score of 0.759, micro F1 score of 0.750 and the lowest reported hamming loss of 0.280. Our findings suggest that while prompt engineering techniques hold significant promise for personality prediction, challenges remain in fully capturing the subtleties of all personality traits. Can Leaders Transform Humiliation Into a Creative Force?
The intractable group conflicts, mass killings, and genocides around the world attest to the role of humiliation as a negative force causing violence and destruction. Based on the analysis of the speeches of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the most important leader of Dalits (ex-untouchables) in India, it is suggested that leaders possess the capacity for creative use of humiliation. The creative use of humiliation is made possible by the innovation in constructing social identities involved in humiliation. Creative leadership can be an important catalyst that can transform humiliation into a positive force for social change. 2015 University of Phoenix. -
Can Hubble tension be eased by invoking a finite range for gravity?
The estimation of the Hubble constant in the past few decades has increasingly become more accurate with the advancement of new techniques. However, its value seems to depend on the epoch at which the measurements are made. The Planck estimate of the Hubble constant from the observations of the cosmic microwave background radiation in the early universe is about 67km\s\Mpc, whereas that obtained from the distance indicators at the current epoch is ?73-74km\s\Mpc. This discrepancy between the two groups of measurement is termed as the Hubble tension which has gained much attention in the past few decades with growing significance as measurements from both, the early and the late universe, studies continue to produce results with increasing precision. In this work, we propose a modification to gravity by considering a finite range gravitational field as an alternate explanation for this discrepancy in the value of the Hubble constant. 2024 World Scientific Publishing Company. -
Can Heedful Interrelating Be a Self-empowering Approach to Thwart Maladaptive Workplace Functioning? An Integrative Literature Review
Maladaptive workplace functioning hinders task completion, work-goal attainment and collaborative interactions, thereby affecting the optimal utilisation of human capital, learning outcomes and organisational sustainability. By integrating self-determination theory, the theory of heedful interrelating and the socially embedded model of thriving at work, this study proposes a conceptual model as a self-empowering approach to thwart maladaptive functioning. A five-stage integrative literature review was conducted to examine the available knowledge base, critically review and synthesise selected literature on heedful interrelating to locate a knowledge gap and bring forth a new way of thinking to address employee workplace maladaptive functioning. A sample of ten empirical articles was consolidated to gauge the antecedents and outcomes of heedful interrelating. The originality of the study lies in bridging the dialectic gap of self-determination theory, introducing heed as a novel factor to the relatedness dimension and employing an intelligent review methodology to propose a practical workplace solution to maladaptive functioning. Camouflaged Protocols of Womanhood: Inherent Paradoxes of Bengal
Contemporary India is part of a global community where modernizationand urbanization including consumerism is on the rise; but not leaving behind its historic cultural essence. Old scriptures, myths, folklore, literature, cultural proverbs as well as media, have a noteworthy role in shaping the perspectives of Indian people. The current study was done in parts of urban Bengal to explore the influence of these forces from socio-political, psychological as well as philosophical registers, in shaping the self-image and identity of contemporary women. 50 participants were interviewed using a semi-structured in-depth interview method and data were analyzed following qualitative analytical methods keeping the cultural-relational-social context in perspective. The method of pluralism in the qualitative analysis was followed using three data analysis methodsGrounded Theory, Interpretative Phenomenological Approach, and Narrative Analysis. Analyses revealed anintriguing social-crafting of theconcepts of gender and identities of women through idealization and internalization of traits and notions incessantly presented through celebrated literature, myths, folklore, proverbs, and media. Furthermore, the analysis showed how the deep-rooted paradox, inherent in Bengals cultural discourse, is internalized even by educated urban women and infuses a sense of lack, vulnerability, self-loathing, blame, and stigma in their identity. On the contrary, it was also observed in a few instances that optimum use of media and global knowledge led to the construction of a new-age individual and subjective discourse. 2022, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to National Academy of Psychology (NAOP) India. -

Calibration of Optimal Trigonometric Probability for Asynchronous Differential Evolution
Parallel optimization and strong exploration are the main features of asynchronous differential evolution (ADE). The population is updated instantly in ADE by replacing the target vector if a better vector is found during the selection operation. This feature of ADE makes it different from differential evolution (DE). With this feature, ADE works asynchronously. In this work, ADE and trigonometric mutation are embedded together to raise the performance of an algorithm. The work finds out the best trigonometric probability value for asynchronous differential evolution. Two values of trigonometric mutation probability (PTMO) are tested to obtain the optimum setting of PTMO. The work presented in this paper is tested over a number of benchmark functions. The benchmark functions results are compared for two values of PTMO and discussed in detail. The proposed work outperforms the competitive algorithms. A nonparametric statistical analysis is also performed to validate the results. 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. -
