This research article highlights the fundamental modeling steps required for an electric vehicle control system design following a simulation approach using MATLAB/Simulink software. From an electric vehicle design perspective, this approach offers an excellent solution to give insights into EV research involving multidisciplinary engineering aspects. The study presents longitudinal control technique, relevant observations and results to bring out the differences in open-loop and closed-loop case studies. It also intends to provide better understanding toward the need for a feedback, realization of an expected path profile for students and researchers in this field of interest.
