At lower doses, it influences tooth by inhibiting tooth caries, while in high doses, it causes dental and skeletal fluorosis. It is known that some quantity of fluoride is important for the formation of tooth enamel and mineralization in tissues. The present work aims at providing safe and potable water to rural areas where this element has created a menace. This work also suggests the use of few adsorbents such as paddy husk and coir pith which are affordable and removes fluorine to greater extent.
