This study examines the impact of poetry intervention on emotional intelligence (EI) among young Indian adults using purposive sampling and the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (EIQ-30). Thirty participants with low EI scores were selected through criterion sampling and divided into Experimental and Control groups. A concurrent embedded design was employed, with pre- and post-test assessments analyzed using Paired Sample t-tests. Results indicate a significant improvement in EI due to the poetry intervention. Thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed six key themes: Navigating Inner Struggles, Personal Development and Coping, Acceptance and Growth, Social Bonds and Interactions, Artistic Social Engagement, and Reunion Dynamics and Expectations. These findings highlight poetrys potential to foster emotional expression, self-awareness, and social connection. The study underscores poetry as a transformative tool for personal growth and meaningful interpersonal engagement, contributing valuable insights into its role in enhancing emotional intelligence and promoting psychological well-being. 2025 National Association for Poetry Therapy.
