Using interviews, observation, and archival research, this research examined the Tarao community's socio-political status in the Chandel and Tengnoupal districts. It discusses how larger ethnic groups dominate while smaller communities like the Tarao remain marginalised. The findings show that the Tarao community is under-represented in governance, marginalised at the state level, and dominated by larger ethnic groups, resulting in a lack of political voice, social exclusion, economic restrictions, and fragmentation.
