The present invention offers a novel method for the synthesis of 3-phenyl-2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)acrylamides 4(a-g) under catalyst-free conditions. All the reactions were carried out in an one-pot cascade process starting with various aromatic/heteroaryl aldehydes, 2-cyanoacetamide and sodium azide at 110 oC using dimethylformamide (DMF) as a solvent. In addition, the reaction conditions were screened for optimization conditions towards solvent, catalyst, temperature and equivalence of sodium azide. - Date
