VAW is framed as a worldwide public health issue that goes beyond personal injury to cause long-term physical, psychological and socioeconomic repercussions that jeopardize country development and community well-being. VAW increases their risk of harm, problems with their reproductive systems, mental health issues, and even death. These consequences put a burden on healthcare systems around the globe. Through the shadow pandemic, where lockdowns increased domestic abuse and limited survivors' access to necessary resources, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted these vulnerabilities. An integrated, multisectoral strategy that incorporates community awareness, survivor-centered health care, legal reforms, and international collaboration is needed to address VAW as a public health emergency.
