Keeping this in mind, the present study endeavours to assess the impact of deepfake technology on public trust in economic policies by taking a sample of 134 respondents from the Mumbai region of India. The results indicate a significant negative relationship between exposure to Deepfake technology and public trust in fiscal policies implying that Deepfake technology leads to an erosion of public trust in fiscal policies of the government calling out for appropriate steps that must be taken to counteract the derogatory effects of Deepfake technology. 2025 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
