The present invention provides a facile, scalable, and cost-effective method for preparing heteroatom doped nanocarbon extracted from coke that possesses an excellent electrochemical activity. The synthesized nanostructure modified electrode is used for the rapid quantitative detection of Oxytocin in the range of 0.1 to 95 nM with a limit of detection of 40 pM.
