A process is described to synthesize magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4 - spinel, linear formula: MgO-Al2O3) refractory coating that was obtained by plasma spray coating α-alumina (Al2O3 - corundum) and MgAl2O4 ceramic composite powder that was previously beneficiated from black aluminum dross, an industrial waste. The ceramic composite powder was converted into plasma sprayable powder by a combination of processes that included sieving and spray drying with optimized parameters. - Date
