Adaptive algorithms in smart antenna beamformation for wireless communication
The challenges for today's wireless communication technology are increased data rates, channel capacity and spectrum efficiency with reduced interference. The adaptive antenna array is capable of adapting to the varying signal environments automatically and forms beams in the directions of the desired signals by steering nulls in the directions of interfering signals. Therefore smart antenna is the best solution to overcome the above mentioned challenges. Smart antennas uses advanced digital signal processing algorithms to enhance the detection of desired users in an interfering environment through spatial filtering. In this paper we will discuss the influence of Least Mean Squares (LMS), Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithms in adaptive beamforming. The simulations used for the study are carried out using MATLAB R2013a. 2016 IEEE. -
Kitchen Waste Derived Porous Nanocarbon Spheres for Metal Free Degradation of Azo Dyes: An Environmental Friendly, Cost Effective Method
A porous nanocarbon spheres (PNCSs) were prepared from kitchen waste and successfully used for the metal and oxidant free degradation of azo compounds. The PNCSs obtained by the pyrolysis of onion peel, at 1000C, were found to be effective catalysts for the reductive degradation of azo dyes in presence of hydrazine hydrate. The reductive cleavage of azo bonds (N=N) was achieved under microwave irradiation. The degradation process was completed in a span of 1040min; the process was monitored by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was also used for the illustration of azo degradation. Interestingly, the reductive degradation of azo dyes produced corresponding amines and they were successfully reused for the preparation of fresh azo compounds. The work, therefore, highlights the valorization of largely produced kitchen-wastes to the sustainable PNCSs and it also provides a platform to demonstrate their applicability as highly cost-effective catalysts for bulk scale chemical transformations. Porous carbons derived from Arecanut seeds by direct pyrolysis for efficient CO2 capture
In this report, we demonstrate the preparation of a series of carbon nanospheres (CNSs) with high surface area and tunable sizes from natural bioresource, Arecanut kernels, by using direct pyrolysis. This method offers a convenient approach to induce porosity in the synthesized carbons without the need for an activating agent. The textural parameters including the specific surface area, pore volume, and pore size can be controlled by the simple adjustment of the carbonization temperature from 700 to 1000C. The CNSs prepared at 700C showed a low specific surface area, whereas the higher carbonization temperatures (8001000C) supported the rise in specific surface area of the products (433.61001.4 m2/g). The carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen (CHN) analysis revealed that the CNSs exhibited a high purity with the carbon percentage ranging between 96 and 99%. The synthesized materials were tested as adsorbents for CO2 gas, and it was found that the CNSs with the highest specific surface area of 1001.4 m2/g registered the CO2 adsorption capacity of 14.1 mmol/g at 0C and 30 bar, which is a reasonably high value among reported porous carbons prepared without activation. This value of CO2 adsorption also stands above the activated carbon and multiwalled carbon nanotubes. The excellent CO2 adsorption capability of these adsorbents along with their low-cost synthesis offers a feasible pathway for designing such materials for other applications as well. 2021, Qatar University and Springer Nature Switzerland AG. -

Insights into thyroid disease: Harnessing machine learning for analysis and classification of multi-label medical data
Thyroid disease refers to a wide range of disorders that occur due to dysfunction of the thyroid gland, a small gland located at the base of the neck that produces thyroid hormones. Through the analysis of this comprehensive dataset, we aim to utilize machine learning (ML) techniques for the analysis and classification of thyroid data. Employing ML techniques for thyroid classification has the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, facilitate timelier interventions, lower expenses, optimize doctor time, and foster a more personalized approach to thyroid care. The objective of this research was to conduct multiclassification, encompassing the broadest array of classes for the target variable. To address the imbalances within the dataset, we employed the Synthetic Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) as a resampling method. Specifically, classes with a minimum of 10 samples were retained, resulting in the inclusion of 19 out of the total 34 classes in the dataset. The importance of SMOTE in addressing class imbalance is examined in this chapter, with an emphasis on how it may be used to enhance classifier model performance. Moreover, we conducted a comparative analysis of Classification Models, including Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbor, Decision Tree, SVM, Gradient Boosting, Multinomial Naive Bayes, and Logistic Regression, to assess their accuracies. Following the resampling of the dataset, the highest accuracy of 99.99% was achieved with the gradient booster. Additionally, this research incorporated the association rule technique to uncover meaningful relationships within the dataset. 2025 selection and editorial matter, Arun Kumar Rana, Vishnu Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar Rana, and Vijay Shanker Chaudhary; individual chapters, the contributors.
