h-almost Ricci Solitons on Generalized Sasakian-space-forms
The aim of this article is to study the h-almost Ricci solitons and h-almost gradient Ricci solitons on generalized Sasakian-space-forms. First, we consider h-almost Ricci soliton with the potential vector field V as a contact vector field on generalized Sasakian-space-form of dimension greater than three. Next, we study h-almost gradient Ricci solitons on a three-dimensional quasi-Sasakian generalized Sasakian-space-form. Invariant Submanifolds of (?)-Sasakian Manifolds
In this paper, we consider invariant submanifolds of an (?)-Sasakian manifolds. We show that if the second fundamental form of an invariant submanifold of a (?)-Sasakian manifold is recurrent then the submanifold is totally geodesic. We also prove that, invariant submanifolds of an Einstein (?)-Sasakian manifolds satisfying the conditions (Formula presented) (X, Y) ? = 0 and (Formula presented)(X, Y) (Formula presented)? = 0 with ?r ? n(n 1) are also totally geodesic. 2020. A Novel Approach for Fractional (1 + 1 ) -Dimensional BiswasMilovic Equation
In this paper, we find the solution for (1 + 1 ) -dimensional fractional Biswas-Milovic (FBM) equation using the q-homotopy analysis transform method (q-HATM). The Biswas-Milovic equation is a generalization of the nonlinear Schringer (NLS) equation. The future scheme is the elegant mixture of q-homotopy analysis scheme with Laplace transform technique and fractional derivative considered in Caputo sense. To validate and illustrate the competence of the method, we examine the projected model in terms of arbitrary order. Moreover, the nature of the attained results have been presented in 3D plots and contour plots for different value of the order. The gained consequences show that, the hired algorithm is highly accurate, easy to implement, and very operative to investigate the nature of complex nonlinear models ascended in science and engineering. 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited. -
ON 3-DIMENSIONAL QUASI-PARA-SASAKIAN MANIFOLDS AND RICCI SOLITONS
The purpose of this paper is to study 3-dimensional quasi-para-Sasakian manifolds and Ricci solitons. First, we prove that a 3-dimensional non-paracosymplectic quasi-para-Sasakian manifold is an ?-Einstein manifold if and only if the structure function ? is constant. Further, it is shown that a Ricci soliton on a 3-dimensional quasi-para-Sasakian manifold with ?=constant is expanding. Moreover, we show that if a 3-dimensional quasi-para-Sasakian manifold admits a Ricci soliton, then the flow vector field V is Killing, and the quasi-para-Sasakian structure can be obtained by a homothetic deformation of a para-Sasakian structure. Besides, we study gradient Ricci solitons and prove that if a 3-dimensional non-paracosymplectic quasi-para-Sasakian manifold with ?=constant admits a gradient Ricci soliton, then the manifold is an Einstein one. Construction and validation of next generation teacher educator competency scale [NGTECS]
The article presented here is a part of the major research project conducted in India from 2016 through 2020. Teacher education in India in the last six decades underwent many reforms in terms of policies, assessment, field experience patterns, and training pedagogy. Teacher educators invariably implemented all the suggested changes. However, it lacked the rigour in implementation. At the same time with the advancement of technology, the student population is native to technology and had newer attitudes towards learning. Researcher felt that, the Teacher educators competencies are to be revisited and may come up with a new list of competencies which are helpful to the next generation. It is with this intent this major research project was planned. The purpose of the project was to come up with the list of competencies for teacher educators which are helpful for training the next generation teacher trainees and to measure those competencies. Therefore, the study resorted to adopt exploratory research design. This article explains the step wise procedure on construction of next generation teacher educator competency scale. It also explains the procedures of validity and reliability established for the scale. The study brought out a Likert type of scale to measure next generation teacher educator competency and has simple administration procedures. The scale was found to be highly reliable based on Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient. Though the study is exploratory in nature, yet confirmatory factor analysis was carried out and is found to be in agreement with the evolved factors. The scale may be used to measure the extent to which the next generation teacher educator competencies are possessed by a teacher educator. Copyright 2020 by authors, all rights reserved. exploring effective Online-Teaching Transition of College Teachers During COVID-19
The study attempts to identify what is effective online teaching from teacher and student perspectives. What are the challenges faced by teachers which hampered effective online teaching? The study employed mixed method research design including a survey questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The study collected data from 500 students out of which 200 are boys and 300 are girls on effective online teaching. The study conducted semi-structured interview with eight college teachers through snowball sampling. The survey revealed that almost 80% of the teachers are not effective. Girls are less satisfied with online teaching transition of teachers than boys are. Similarly, postgraduates (PG) are not as satisfied as undergraduate (UG) students are. Interview data revealed themes and subthemes on challenges of effective online teaching faced by college teachers. Overall, the perceived online-teaching effectiveness is low, and further research may find the causes for the same. 2022 IGI Global. All rights reserved. -
An ICT-integrated Modular Training Program Enhancing the Digital Research Skills of Research Scholars
The teaching profession in higher education demands strong research skills, and with rapid technological advancements, university teaching professionals must familiarize themselves with digital research skills. Thus, university teachers and PhD research scholars across the globe are eager to develop their digital research skills to enhance their work efficiency. Acquiring digital research skills on the job or during the PhD program has proven to be challenging. These skills assist higher education professionals in various ways, such as supervising doctoral students, conducting research, working on research projects, and publishing research articles. Thus, the present study attempted to provide ICT-integrated modular training (MT) to facilitate the higher education teaching faculty and PhD scholars with digital research skills. The study employed a repeated cross-sectional research design and measured the effectiveness of the MT through a single group pre and post-test design. Researchers conducted three modular training sessions annually on digital research skills over five consecutive years. In total, 300 scholars attended the training and participated in the pre-test, post-test, and satisfaction survey. Findings from paired sample t-tests (t-value varied between 4.117 to 7.525, p < 0.05) revealed that modular training has been significantly effective with a large effect size (d > 0.8). Furthermore, the satisfaction survey revealed a high degree of satisfaction among participants. Future research may explore ways to strengthen the technological and pedagogical content knowledge of modular training programs in developing digital research skills. India is one of the largest youth-populated countries in the world. Technological advancements during and post-COVID have gifted most youth with personal computers/smartphones and internet connectivity at an affordable price. Thus, binge-watching social media has become the order of the day. Youths are excessively interested in building fit-looks for their psychosocial well-being. However, it has adversely changed their life routine and academic performance. Thus, the present study attempted to measure the relationship between their motivation to fit looks and academic performance in the presence of mediating variables like physical exercise, sleeping, and eating patterns. The study surveyed 300 UG students attending physical exercise or gym classes. The study employed mediation analysis to find the relationship. Results revealed a total and indirect effect between motivation to fit looks and academic performance in the presence of mediating variables, explaining the full mediation effect. The study warrants future researchers to explore the reasons for these relationships with a qualitative approach and identify plausible suggestions to improve youths psychosocial well-being. 2024 Universidade Estadual de Maringa. Social media disorder in relation to device screen time and autosuggested social media content engagement; [Zislost zp?soben?asem stren na socinh sh v souvislosti s automaticky generovan obsahem na socinh sh]
Though emerging technology offers people a comfortable life, a few adverse effects also exist. There was a rapid increase in mobile phone usage and internet consumption during and post the Covid-19 pandemic, which reached the extent of addiction among youths. Thus, this study examines social media disorder among adolescents in relation to the time spent on a computer or smart-phone device screen and engaging in autosuggested social media content. The study included 235 responses from students in higher secondary schools of Bangalore, India. The study found a significant positive correlation between device screen time, autosuggested social media content engagement (ASMCE), and social media disorder. Multiple regression analysis indicated that 56.5% of social media disorder among adolescents is due to the time spent on a computer or smart phone device and autosuggested social media content engagement. The study did not measure any differences in social media disorder based on the demographic details of the study participants. As social media disorder affects the mental health of adolescents, especially in post pandemic times, and further affects their academic performance, the researchers suggest that future studies explore the other factors causing social media disorder. 2023 The Authors. -
Student engagement in online learning during COVID-19
Online teaching and learning have become the novel norm amidst COVID-19 pandemic crisis across the world. The educational institutions across the world have switched to online mode of instruction to continue to provide education. Thus, research on effectiveness of online teaching and factors affecting the students engagement in a virtual classroom has gained importance. Students during pandemic are learning at home and lack motivation and confidence in their academic life. The present study aimed to analyze the student engagement and the factors that affect the student engagement in online learning environment. The study employed a quantitative research design to collect data from 600 students attending online classes in schools and colleges of Bangalore, India. The study found that there is a positive correlation between students intrinsic motivation and student engagement. Student engagement increases as the academic pressure or tension decreases. The core findings of the study showed that interest towards learning, perceived competence, and perceived choice of students determines student engagement in online classroom. Almost 33.7 % variance in student engagement is because of students intrinsic motivation. Future researchers may explore external factors affecting student engagement. Lived Experiences, Challenges, and Coping Mechanisms of Undergraduate Students on Cybersecurity in Digital Environments
Higher education students use digital devices for learning, entertainment, and financial transactions. The present study examines undergraduate (UG) students challenges faced in cyber security space amid digital environments. The study employed a qualitative research design with a narrative inquiry method to capture the lived experiences, challenges, and coping mechanism of UG students through semi structured interviews. The researchers analyzed the qualitative data of ten UG students using the inductive thematic analysis method. UG students shared overall that they face varied experiences, multiple challenges, and cope with cyber security issues in multiple ways. Findings from the study led to recommendations for stakeholders, which includes designing higher education classes in a more secure way. This may offer students orientation on cybersecurity knowledge which keeps them safe and helps them understand the digital environment overall. 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. -
Examining University Students Attitude towards e-Learning and Their Academic Achievement during COVID-19
Higher education around the world has moved to online teaching due to COVID-19 pandemic. Students in higher education are compelled to attend online classes and adopt e-learning mode. There is not much evidence on training the students to adopt e-learning and remote learning. However, do they have a positive attitude towards e-learning and has it affected their academic performance? Present study administered an e-learning attitude scale to 840 students of a reputed University to examine whether they have positive or avoidance attitude to e-learning and also analysed e-learning attitude across students demographic characteristics. Study revealed a slight positive correlation between e-learning attitude and academic achievement of postgraduate students and not for undergraduate students. Girls excelled in their achievement and have a more positive e-learning attitude than boys have. Boys showed avoidance e-learning attitude. However, Socio Economic Status (SES) did not affect students e-learning attitude but influenced their academic achievement. Study concludes that stakeholders must create more opportunities to develop a positive attitude towards e-learning as future education is likely to be technology integrated. 2022 by the authors. -
USER EXPERIENCES OF CHATGPT AMONG ENGINEERING STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND WORKING PROFESSIONALS IN INDIA
The introduction of Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) in November 2022 brought about rapid changes in the workplace and academia. Its usage ranged from student assignments to workplace targets in the engineering field. Although it has brought novel ideas to its application in various fields and task efficiency in the workplace, its perceived application varies among students, teachers, and professionals. This study employed the snowball sampling technique and interviews with eight students, eight faculty members, and eight working professionals from computer science engineering who used ChatGPT regularly. The study adopted a qualitative research design and employed the narrative data analysis technique. Researchers conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews to elicit user experiences from the recruited samples. The findings brought out six main and twelve subordinate themes regarding ChatGPT user experiences: adapt, adopt, embrace, ease, speed, engage, and automate. The inclusion criteria involved ChatGPT users from the computer science engineering domain only. Effect of social influence on the saving behaviour of freelancing undergraduate students, mediated by financial literacy and self-control; [Vliv socino aspektu na spo?icchovstudent? na volnnoze ve vztahu k finan?ngramotnosti a sebekontrole]
Currently, India is among the countries with the largest youth population with 65% of the people aged below 35 years. These youths engage themselves in a multitude of things which generation-x was not aware. Their daily routine, study habits, entertainment, computer knowledge, and financial affairs are different from that of earlier generations. There is a need to study their financial situation and saving habit as their approach towards enjoyment, recreation, and lifestyle are influenced by factors like social media and popular culture. This study aims to find the mediation effect of financial literacy and self-control on the relationship between social influence and saving behaviour of undergraduate (UG) students, who are freelancing while pursuing their studies. The study obtained 357 responses to questionnaires through purposive sampling method. The study adopted causal mediation research design and employed mediation analysis to find the direct, indirect, and total effects of the relationship between social influence and saving behaviour among freelancing UG students. The results of the study revealed a partial mediation effect, indicating that the social influence not only had a direct impact on the saving behaviour of UG students in India, but also mediated it through financial literacy and self-control. Further research could focus on understanding students knowledge of digital-financial management, as digitisation of the financial sector is rapidly expanding. 2023 The Authors. -
Philanthropic and Functional Motivation of DREAMS Afterschool Intervention Programme Volunteers: A Correlational Study
Rapid increase in access to information and communication technology among youths have changed their approach towards life. Present study aims to find the relationship between philanthropy and functional motivation among fresh DREAMS volunteers. Study adopted two standardized tool to measure philanthropy and functional motivation. Study selected all the fresh 255 volunteers who just joined DREAMS afterschool intervention programme (AIP), which included 25 boys and 230 girls. Study employed descriptive correlational design and administered the survey questionnaire to participants of the study. Statistical analysis of the data revealed a significant positive moderate correlation between philanthropy and functional motivation. Philanthropy could explain 11.8% variation in functional motivation of fresh volunteers. Quartile points explains almost 74% of the participants fared high on functional motivation than philanthropy. Thus, present day youths have high functional motivation to volunteer than philanthropy. Mentors perceived interest, motivation, and volunteering intention at DREAMS after school intervention programme
DREAMS stands for Desire, Readiness, Empowerment, Action, and Mastery for Success. Dreams afterschool intervention programme (ASIP) is to empower children who are weak in psychosocial skills to realize their full potential and to plan for a successful life with the help of college student mentors and senior community mentors. The present study explored the college student mentors interest and motivation to serve at DREAMS and the volunteering intention to stay or discontinue as mentors. The study bases its investigation purely on the mentors revelation of their experiences of DREAMS ASIP. Study followed phenomenological inquiry method and conducted semi-structured interview with 10 college-student mentors, which included 6 active mentors and 4 dropouts. A face-to-face interview conducted by the researchers recorded all the unique points diligently and conducted the data analysis using thematic analysis. Study found 3 main themes and 12 subordinate themes out of thematic analysis. The master themes are mentors interest, mentors motivation, and mentors volunteering experiences. The results section of the article presents the details of themes and sub-themes along with few excerpts of interviewees. Implications of the study might help other ASPs to understand the nature of their volunteers interest and motivation. Synthesis, Green Photoluminescence and Studies of Nonlinear Optical Spatial Self Phase Modulation Effect in 2D Ga2Te3 Nanosheets
The liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) technique has been employed to prepare two-dimensional (2D) gallium telluride (Ga2Te3) nanosheets with an average thickness of ?2.4 nm and linear optical properties, including UV-visible absorption and photoluminescence (PL) emission characteristics of the sample in the green wavelength region are reported. The third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) responses of the colloidal suspension of 2D Ga2Te3 are determined at 532 and 632 nm wavelengths by a spatial self-phase modulation (SSPM) experiment. The value of the third-order NLO refraction coefficient (n2e) and effective susceptibility for monolayer (?(3)Mono) 2D Ga2Te3 under 532 (632) nm continuous wave (CW) excitation is extracted to be 2.60 10-7 (0.32 10-7) cm2/W and 1.12 10-9 (1.37 10-10) e.s.u., respectively. The origin of the observed SSPM patterns under 532 nm excitation was elucidated theoretically. Finally, the correlation of ?(3)Mono with the mobility of charge carriers for a vast number of 2D materials is utilized to establish the origin of the observed NLO effect under 532 nm pump laser radiation in the 2D Ga2Te3. Additionally, NLO absorption coefficients of 2D Ga2Te3 have been extracted using the femtosecond Z-scan technique at 800 nm. We observed a switching behavior (saturable to threephoton absorption) in the nonlinear absorption mechanism with different input peak intensities. The highest three-photon absorption coefficient of ?1.68 cm3/GW2 was observed for a 350 GW/cm2 peak intensity. We believe that such reports of interesting linear and NLO properties of this newly synthesized 2D material can be utilized in the future for a wide number of optoelectronic applications. 2023 American Chemical Society. -
A new combinational technique in image steganography
Internet is used for exchanging information. Sometimes it is needed to transmit confidential data via internet. Here the authors use image steganography to pass confidential data within a cover image. To construct the algorithm, they take the combinational help of particle swarm optimization (PSO), bi-orthogonal wavelet transform (BWT), and genetic algorithm (GA). They use PSO to take the enhanced version of cover image. They use BWT to choose the selective sub bands of cover image and we utilize GA to select a particular stego image among a set of stego images. Thus, an innovative technique of image steganography has been made to transmit confidential data via cover image generating stego image. This combinational approach of image steganography is quite safe for confidential data transmission and makes it hard for the attackers to retrieve the confidential data. 2021 IGI Global.
