Recommender system for surplus stock clearance
Accumulation of the stock had been a major concern for retail shop owners. Surplus stock could be minimized if the system could continuously monitor the accumulated stock and recommend those which require clearance. Recommender Systems computes the data, shadowing the manual work and give efficient recommendations to overcome stock accumulation, creating space for new stock for sale to enhance the profit in business. An intelligent recommender system was built that could work with the data and help the shop owners to overcome the issue of surplus stock in a remarkable way. An item-item collaborative filtering technique with Pearson similarity metric was used to draw the similarity between the items and accordingly give recommendations. The results obtained on the dataset highlighted the top-N items using the Pearson similarity and the Cosine similarity. The items having the highest rank had the highest accumulation and required attention to be cleared. The comparison is drawn for the precision and recall obtained by the similarity metrics used. The evaluation of the existing work was done using precision and recall, where the precision obtained was remarkable, while the recall has the scope of increment but in turn, it would reduce the value of precision. Thus, there lies a scope of reducing the stock accumulation with the help of a recommender system and overcome losses to maximize profit. Copyright 2019 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. Reconfigurable non-uniform band-generating filter bank for channelizer
Multi-band channelizer system must choose a specific channel from a broad bandwidth signal. A variety of distinct wireless standards and frequency bands are used in the channelizer. Reconfigurable and non-uniform multi-channels with narrow transition widths are necessary for channelizers. In this paper, a low complexity reconfigurable non-uniform band-generating filter bank (RNBFB) is proposed for multi-band channelizer. The RNBFB is used to generate a variety of non-uniform channels with a narrow transition width. Utilising frequency response masking (FRM) and the cosine modulation (CM) approach, many non-uniform channels are created. Comparing RNBFB to other state-of-the-art techniques, RNBFB generates multi-bands for channelizer with less multiplier complexities. For a better understanding of hardware complexity, the proposed RNBFB is implemented efficiently. A multiplier-free design such as Canonical Signed Digit (CSD), Multi-Objective Artificial Bee Colony (MOABC), and Shift Inclusive Differential Coefficients (SIDC) with a Common Sub-expression Elimination (CSE) are included in the suggested strategy to further optimise the RNBFB. 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. -
Reconstruction of sparse-view tomography via preconditioned Radon sensing matrix
Computed Tomography (CT) is one of the significant research areas in the field of medical image analysis. As X-rays used in CT image reconstruction are harmful to the human body, it is necessary to reduce the X-ray dosage while also maintaining good quality of CT images. Since medical images have a natural sparsity, one can directly employ compressive sensing (CS) techniques to reconstruct the CT images. In CS, sensing matrices having low coherence (a measure providing correlation among columns) provide better image reconstruction. However, the sensing matrix constructed through the incomplete angular set of Radon projections typically possesses large coherence. In this paper, we attempt to reduce the coherence of the sensing matrix via a square and invertible preconditioner possessing a small condition number, which is obtained through a convex optimization technique. The stated properties of our preconditioner imply that it can be used effectively even in noisy cases. We demonstrate empirically that the preconditioned sensing matrix yields better signal recovery than the original sensing matrix. 2018, Korean Society for Computational and Applied Mathematics. -
Recycled Surgical Mask Waste as a Resource Material in Sustainable Geopolymer Bricks
With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global consumption of single-use surgical masks has risen immensely, and it is expected to grow in the coming years. Simultaneously, the disposal of surgical masks in the environment has caused plastic pollution, and therefore, it is exigent to find innovative ways to handle this problem. In this study, surgical masks were processed in a laboratory using the mechanical grinding method to obtain recycled surgical masks (RSM). The RSM was added in doses of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% by volume of geopolymer bricks, which were synthesized with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), rice husk ash (RHA), sand, and sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) at ambient conditions for a duration of 28 days. The developed bricks were tested for compressive strength, flexural strength, density, water absorption, efflorescence, and drying shrinkage. The results of the study reveal that compressive strength and flexural strength improved with the inclusion of RSM in the bricks. The highest values of compressive strength and flexural strength were 5.97 MPa and 1.62 MPa for bricks with 4% RSM, respectively. Further, a reduction in the self-weight of the bricks was noticed with an increase in RSM. There was no pronounced effect of RSM on the water absorption and efflorescence properties. However, the RSM played a role in reducing the drying shrinkage of the bricks. The sustainability analysis divulges the catalytic role of RSM in improving material performance, thereby proving to be a potential candidate for low-carbon material in the construction industry. 2023 by the authors. -
Recycling carbon tax for inclusive green growth: A CGE analysis of India
In this decade, India has been pursuing a low carbon inclusive growth strategy. However, carbon tax, the most direct price instrument to reduce carbon emissions, has not found favour with policymakers because of its supposed detrimental effects on economic growth and income distribution. In the Indian context, the literature indicates that though carbon tax is extremely effective in abating carbon emissions, it simultaneously leads to reductions in GDP. There is, thus, an undesirable trade-off between economic growth and climate change mitigation. However, in trying to overcome this trade-off through a double-dividend from carbon tax, these studies have not really explored all possible options. Whether the carbon tax will yield a double-dividend or not, will depend upon how the carbon tax revenue is recycled. The present paper fills this gap in the literature on recycling carbon tax for inclusive green growth by exploring the consequences of using carbon tax revenue for investment to build capacity in all sectors or exclusively in the clean energy sectors and to execute transfers to households to improve the distribution of income. This analysis has been done with a recursively dynamic India-specific CGE model having a disaggregated energy sectors and an endogenous income distribution module. 2020 Elsevier Ltd -
Redefined families and subsystems: Reading kinship and hierarchical structures in select Hijra autobiographies
Hijras or transwomen in India are gendered identities, but their identities cannot be reduced to the conceptual framework and analysis of sex, gender and sexuality. Being the minority in India, transgender lives intersect with caste, class, kinship and hierarchy. The study locates these intersections within the scope of the select hijra autobiographies; The Truth About Me: A Hijra Life Story by A. Revathi and I am Vidya by Vidya. The study looks at the notions of family which are traditionally woven in heteronormative and patriarchal setups. It examines the gharanas system or subsystems in hijra communities that redefines the structures and hierarchies of the family, and designating the fellow elder hijras with the relation of mata (mother) and cela (disciple), thus forming a kinship which is located beyond the caste, class and religious structures. The emphasis is to study how families are inserted in heteronormative perspectives and argues a redefining of the notion of family,and to establish and recognize the newer perspectives on family which lies outside the traditional setup. Redefining copreneurs: a four decadal review adopting computer aided text analysis
The study defines copreneurs and presents a four decadal review on copreneurial literature. The purpose is to bring conceptualization and characterization of copreneurs, on surface from its fragmented literature. A structured literature review on copreneurship research published between 1984 and 2023 is conducted. The search is made adopting indexing (Scopus, Clarivate and ABDC), digital libraries including ProQuest and EBSCO, and research articles published in journals by renowned publishers namely Elsevier, Emerald, Inderscience, Sage, Springer, Taylor & Francis and Wiley. Inclusion/exclusion criteria was defined and duplicates were eliminated. Finally, using POWER review model, the existing literature is organized under six themes namely Gender Roles, Spousal Support & Relationship Satisfaction, Work Life Balance, Business Commitment & Motivation, Leadership & Decision Making and Division of Labour & Responsibilities in the Intertwined Worlds. Using Inter- Rater Reliability, five definitions of copreneurs were framed and rated by nine experts from academics and industry. Finally, the definition with highest score and acceptable I-CVI value for simplicity & clarity is proposed. The fragmented literature on copreneurs speaks volume about the need for more impactful research on them. By using the proposed definition of copreneurs, scholars can uniformly identify the copreneurs, with future opportunities for micro-level research on copreneurs. Policy makers can utilise the findings of these research and formulate schemes, policies & programmes for betterment of copreneurs. The study intends to bridge the disciplinary gaps existing for identifying copreneurs and serve as a foundation for information sharing, regarding copreneurs and their entrepreneurial practices. Reducing approximation error with rapid convergence rate for non-negative matrix factorization (NMF)
Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is utilized in many important applications. This paper presents development of an efficient low rank approximate NMF algorithm for feature extraction related to text mining and spectral data analysis. NMF can be used for clustering. NMF factorizes a positive matrix A to two positive matrices W and H matrices where A = WH. The proposal uses k-means clustering algorithm to determine the centroid of each cluster and assigns the centroid coordinates of each cluster as one column for W matrix. The initial choice of W matrix is positive. The H matrix is determined with gradient descent algorithm based on thin QR optimization. The performance comparison of the proposed NMF algorithm is illustrated with results. The accurate choice of initial positive W matrix reduces approximation error and the use of thin QR algorithm in combination with gradient descent approach provides rapid convergence rate for NMF. The proposed algorithm is implemented with the randomly generated matrix in MATLAB environment. The number of significant singular values of the generated matrix is selected as the number of clusters. The error and convergence rate comparison of the proposed algorithm with the current algorithms are demonstrated in this research. The accurate measurement of execution time for individual program is not possible in MATLAB. The average time execution over 200 iterations is therefore calculated with an increasing iteration count of the proposed algorithm and the comparative results are presented. 2021 by authors, all rights reserved. -
Reduction of a Tri-Modal Lorenz Model of Ferrofluid Convection to a CubicQuintic GinzburgLandau Equation Using the Center Manifold Theorem
The differential geometric method of the center manifold theorem is applied to the magnetic-Lorenz model of ferrofluid convection in an electrically non-conducting ferrofluid. The analytically intractable tri-modal nonlinear autonomous system (magnetic-Lorenz model) is reduced to an analytically tractable uni-modal cubicquintic GinzburgLandau equation. The inadequacy of the cubic GinzburgLandau equation and the need for the cubicquintic one is shown in the paper. The heat transport is quantified using the solution of the cubicquintic equation and the effect of ferrofluid parameters on it is demonstrated. The stable and unstable regions in the conductive regime and the conductive-convective regime is depicted using a bifurcation diagram. The noticeable discrepancy between the results of the two models is highlighted and the quintic non-linearity effects are delineated. 2021, Foundation for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation. -

Reflective thinking in school: a systematic review
Everything around us changes rapidly and to adapt to these constantly changing conditions and to understand the meaning of our life in the society in which we live, we must reflectively and consciously think about our actions in each given scenario. A school is a miniature form of society where learners are exposed to situations where they need to find solutions for every problem faced. No faultless solution and conclusions can be arrived at without a carefully employed reflective thinking process. In this context, the present study reviewed 19 intervention studies on reflective thinking in schools published between 2010 and 2021 and presents a brief summary. Various theories on reflective thinking, approach of educationists on reflective thinking of students and the relation between reflective thinking and students academic performance, are extensively analyzed. The findings of the study reveal that there are a few generally accepted theories of reflective thinking; reflection is a useful learning strategy and reflective thinking is an essential characteristic of academic excellence. This study recommends future research with a wider scope to accommodate more theoretical perspectives and wide-ranging databases. 2024, Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. Regarding Deeper Properties of the Fractional Order Kundu-Eckhaus Equation and Massive Thirring Model
In this paper, the fractional natural decomposition method (FNDM) is employed to find the solution for the Kundu-Eckhaus equation and coupled fractional differential equations describing the massive Thirring model. The massive Thirring model consists of a system of two nonlinear complex differential equations, and it plays a dynamic role in quantum field theory. The fractional derivative is considered in the Caputo sense, and the projected algorithm is a graceful mixture of Adomian decomposition scheme with natural transform technique. In order to illustrate and validate the efficiency of the future technique, we analyzed projected phenomena in terms of fractional order. Moreover, the behaviour of the obtained solution has been captured for diverse fractional order. The obtained results elucidate that the projected technique is easy to implement and very effective to analyze the behaviour of complex nonlinear differential equations of fractional order arising in the connected areas of science and engineering. 2022 Tech Science Press. REGARDING NEW NUMERICAL RESULTS for the DYNAMICAL MODEL of ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS with FRACTIONAL DERIVATIVE
The main purpose of the present investigation is to find the solution of fractional coupled equations describing the romantic relationships using q-homotopy analysis transform method (q-HATM). The considered scheme is a unification of q-homotopy analysis technique with Laplace transform (LT). More preciously, we scrutinized the behavior of the obtained solution for the considered model with fractional-order, in order to elucidate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Further, for the different fractional-order and parameters offered by the considered method, the physical natures have been apprehended. The obtained consequences evidence that the proposed method is very effective and highly methodical to study and examine the nature and its corresponding consequences of the system of fractional order differential equations describing the real word problems. 2022 The Author(s). -
Regarding on the fractional mathematical model of tumour invasion and metastasis
In this paper, we analyze the behaviour of solution for the system exemplifying model of tumour invasion and metastasis by the help of q-homotopy analysis transform method (q-HATM) with the fractional operator. The analyzed model consists of a system of three nonlinear differential equations elucidating the activation and the migratory response of the degradation of the matrix, tumour cells and production of degradative enzymes by the tumour cells. The considered method is graceful amalgamations of q-homotopy analysis techniquewith Laplace transform(LT), and Caputo-Fabrizio (CF) fractional operator is hired in the present study. By using the fixed point theory, existence and uniqueness are demonstrated. To validate and present the effectiveness of the considered algorithm, we analyzed the considered system in terms of fractional order with time and space. The error analysis of the considered scheme is illustrated. The variations with small change time with respect to achieved results are effectively captured in plots. The obtained results confirm that the considered method is very efficient and highly methodical to analyze the behaviors of the system of fractional order differential equations. 2021 Tech Science Press. Regression analysis and features of negative activation energy for MHD nanofluid flow model: A comparative study
This article elucidates the impact of activation energy on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stagnation point nanofluid flow over a slippery surface in a porous regime with thermophoretic and Brownian diffusions. Negative activation energy is scarce in practice, but the impact of negative activation energy could not be neglected as it is noticed in chemical processes. The rate of some Arrhenius-compliant reactions is retarded by increasing the temperature and is therefore associated with negative activation energies, such as exothermic binding of urea or water. In some processes, the temperature dependence of the pressure-induced unfolding and the urea-induced unfolding of proteins at ambient pressure give negative activation energies. The present mathematical model is solved with successive linearization method (a spectral technique). A comparison of results is made for negative and positive values of activation energy. Apart from it, the quadratic multiple regression model is discussed briefly and explained with bar diagrams. It is observed that with rise in unsteadiness parameter from 0 to 1 (taking positive activation energy), skin friction and Sherwood number are increased by 9.36% and 19% respectively, and Nusselt number is decreased by 26%. However, for negative activation energy, 9.36% and 112% enhancement is observed in skin friction and Sherwood number, respectively. 2023 The Authors -

Reimagining Future of Future by redesigning Talent Strategy in the Age of Distraction and Disruption
The coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic promoted the development of Industry 4.0 leading to the fifth industrial revolution (Industry 5.0). It brought in new ways of working and the role of the office in the future. It redesigned the workplace to support organizational priorities and resize the footprint creatively. Digitalization and globalization have sparked radical shifts in how employees live and work. In an age of digital disruption, companies and HR leaders are forced to revise organizational on how they organize, recruit, develop, manage and engage the 21st-century workforce. The big questions are: how can HR help business leaders reconstruct the workforce of the future? What effort has the company take to change future work and their workforce today so that it looks different 15 years later? Organizational agility, careers and learning disruption, talent disruption, rethinking performance management and people analytics in addition to creating the right structure, analysis, and standardized people metrics are the key to success and critical drivers to design talent strategy. This study aims to identify the magic ingredient (or strategies) behind managing an organization's talent in creating business success. We further examined and mathematically modelled these strategies in attracting and retaining high-quality employees, developing their skills, and continuously motivating them to improve their performance in the age of distraction and disruption. 354 employees from IT companies participated in the survey. The findings of the study show, as expected, that a compelling employer brand is the most effective talent management strategy of all when it combines three key drivers: organizational culture, organization goodwill and competition for talent. Reiner-Rivlin nanomaterial heat transfer over a rotating disk with distinct heat source and multiple slip effects
The thermodynamic features of the Reiner-Rivlin nanoliquid flow induced by a spinning disk are analyzed numerically. The non-homogeneous two-phase nanofluid model is considered to analyze the effect of nanoparticles on the thermodynamics of the Reiner-Rivlin nanomaterial, which also includes a temperature-dependent heat source (THS) and an exponential space-dependent heat source (ESHS). Further, the transfer of heat and mass is analyzed with velocity slip, volume fraction jump, and temperature jump boundary conditions. The finite difference method-based routine is used to solve the complicated differential equations formed after using the von-Karman similarity technique. Limiting cases of the present problem are found to be in good agreement with benchmarking studies. The relationship of the pertinent parameters with the heat and mass transport is scrutinized using correlation, which is further evaluated based on the probable error estimates. Multivariable models are fitted for the friction factor at the disk and heat transport, which accurately predict the dependent variables. The Reiner-Rivlin nanoliquid temperature is influenced comparatively more by the ESHS than by the THS. The Nusselt number is decreased by the ESHS and THS, whereas the friction factor at the disk is predominantly decremented by the wall roughness aspect. The increment in the non-Newtonian characteristic of the liquid leads more fluid to drain away in the radial direction far from the disk compared with the fluid nearby the disk in the presence of the centrifugal force during rotation. The increased thermal and volume fraction slip lowers the nanoliquid temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction profiles. 2021, Shanghai University.
