Determinants of Procrastination among young adults in their academics and professional lives
Procrastination is one of the most pervasive issues which exist in contemporary times among students and professionals. This research aims to understand the modern determinants of procrastination, including factors such as Fear of Missing out (FOMO), Social Zapping, and Sensation Seeking with Impulsivity as a mediator. Limited research has talked about these variables connection with one another. The study was conducted by collecting data from 294 young adults using convenience and snowball sampling with scales of the five variables in question. A mediation analysis was performed which concluded that FOMO has a significant effect on procrastination. Additionally, Social Zapping and FOMO showed a significant relationship with impulsivity. This suggests that FOMO is the key factor that leads to students and professionals choosing to procrastinate their academic/work-related activities in favour of other alternatives such as social or recreational activities. 2023 RJ4All. -
Determinants of Quality of Life in Women with Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review
The morbidity and mortality rates associated with breast cancer are a major public health concern globally. The resulting impairment in the patients quality of life (QOL) affects their health, symptoms, and well-being in physical, social, psychological, environmental, and sexual functioning. The aim of this study was to systematically review the literature addressing the determinants of QOL in breast cancer patients. A search of 6 electronic medical databases was undertaken. Employing a rigorous systematic protocol, eligible articles were analyzed and a total of 22 studies that met all eligibility criteria were included in the systematic review. The total sample size was 7,041 women ranging from 30 to 66 years. The determinants of QOL were found to cluster into 10 areas. These include the degree of pain, type and stage of cancer treatment, medical health, cognitive and behavioural factors, emotional health, physical activity and appearance, social factors, age and menopausal status, education and employment status, and ethnicity and religion. The types of breast cancer treatment and psychological parameters were the most common determinants of QOL in breast cancer patients. These insights can help formulate proactive interventions that can be used by patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to build protective capacities and alleviate challenges to ensure superior quality of life in women with breast cancer. 2022,Journal of International Women''s Studies. Determinants of renewable stock returns: The role of global supply chain pressure
This study investigates the determinants of the global renewable stocks index returns from November 2003 to August 2022. The explanatory variables include global supply chain pressure measures, climate policy uncertainty, global economic activity, and crude oil prices. The long-run panel dynamic Autoregressive Distributed Lag estimations show that the global supply chain pressure, climate policy uncertainty, and global economic activity redound renewable stock returns. Determination of Discharge Distribution in Meandering Compound Channels Using Machine Learning Techniques
Accurate flow rate prediction is essential to analyze flood control, sediment transport, riverbank protection, and so forth. The flow rate distribution becomes even more complicated in compound channels due to the momentum transfer between different subsections across the width of the channel. Conventional channel division methods estimate flow distribution at the main channel and floodplains by assuming a division line with zero apparent shear stress. The article attempts to develop a model to calculate the percentage of discharge in the main channel (%Qmc) using techniques such as Group Method of Data Handling - Neural Network (GMDH-NN) and gene-expression programming (GEP) by incorporating the effects of various geometric and hydraulic parameters. The paper proposes a modified channel division method with a variable-inclined interface, with zero apparent shear force distribution at the channel subsections according to the statistical indices employed to assess these models' performance in predicting %Qmc. This variable-inclined interface changes its slope according to the channel parameters. Determination of heavy metals in various tissues of locally reared (country) chicken in major districts of Karnataka, India: Assessment of potential health risks
Food is one of the most prevalent ways that humans are exposed to metals. Heavy metals including cadmium, iron, zinc, lead, and mercury are harmful to humans and have a detrimental impact on health because they accumulate in biological organs. The concentration levels of these heavy metals were tested in different edible parts of the country (locally raised) chicken from various districts in Karnataka, India, namely Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Mangaluru, and Udupi, using an Atomic-Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Heavy metal concentrations in various chicken parts were found to be below detectable limits (BDL)-0.0062, 0.027-3.178, and 0.262-2.103 ppm for Cd, Fe, and Zn, respectively, whereas Hg and Pb were BDL. The content of Zn was found to be significantly higher in all chicken samples from all examined districts, followed by Fe and Cd. Hg and Pb concentrations, on the other hand, were below the detection level in all samples. The estimated daily intakes (EDIs) of the observed metals from country chicken consumption were found to be lower than their respective FAO/WHO reference oral doses (RfD). The non- carcinogenic health hazards posed by the tested metals to the target population were estimated using the Hazard Quotient (HQ) and Hazard Index (HI) values. The HQ and HI values observed in this estimation were less than one, indicating that exposure to these heavy metals through the consumption of country chicken is unlikely to provide possible health concerns to the examined regions human population. 2023, Universidade Federal do Parana. Determination of stress on turbine generator shaft due to subsynchronous resonance using finite element method
Power Capacitors plays a vital role in reactive power compensation. When the capacitors are connected to the transmission line, it improves the reactive power. Although the reactive power is improved, there is a possibility for sub synchronous resonance created by this capacitors in the transmission line which can impact the generator frequency. The sub synchronous resonance causes electro-mechanical stress in the generator shaft which ultimately leads to malfunction of the entire power generating unit. It is necessary to find out operating modes of the generator and turbine when the line is compensated with capacitors. Once the operating modes are clear, it is possible to damp the sub synchronous resonance. In this paper, three phase generator is coupled with a prime mover and capacitors are connected before the load. The stress on the turbine is analysed based on the torque of two rotating machines. Determination of the size of the dust torus in H0507+164 through optical and infrared monitoring
The time delay between flux variations in different wavelength bands can be used to probe the inner regions of active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Here, we present the first measurements of the time delay between optical and near-infrared (NIR) flux variations in H0507+164, a nearby Seyfert 1.5 galaxy at z = 0.018. The observations in the optical V-band and NIR J, H, and Ks bands carried over 35 epochs during the period 2016 October to 2017 April were used to estimate the inner radius of the dusty torus. From a careful reduction and analysis of the data using cross-correlation techniques, we found delayed responses of the J, H, and Ks light curves to the V-band light curve. In the rest frame of the source, the lags between optical and NIR bands are found to be 27.1-12.0 +13.5 d (V versus J), 30.4-12.0 +13.9 d (V versus H) and 34.6-9.6 +12.1 d (V versus Ks). The lags between the optical and different NIR bands are thus consistent with each other. The measured lags indicate that the inner edge of dust torus is located at a distance of 0.029 pc from the central ultraviolet/optical AGN continuum. This is larger than the radius of the broad line region of this object determined from spectroscopic monitoring observations thereby supporting the unification model of AGN. The location of H0507+164 in the ?-MV plane indicates that our results are in excellent agreement with the now known lag-luminosity scaling relationship for dust in AGN. 2018 The Author(s). -

Determining the Impact of Adapted Yoga Training on Physical Functioning in Students with Mild Intellectual Disability
Background. Individuals with mild intellectual disability (ID) often encounter challenges in physical functioning, impacting their overall well-being and quality of life. Traditional exercise programs may not always be accessible or effective for this population due to various barriers. Adapted yoga programs have emerged as a promising alternative, offering tailored interventions to address the unique needs of individuals with ID. Objectives. The study aimed to close this gap by examining the effect of a structured, modified yoga programme on factors related to physical functioning. Materials and methods. A total of 40 students with mild ID, aged between 11 and 15 years, were selected from Special Schools in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The participants were divided into an experimental group undergoing an 8-week adapted yoga program and a control group maintaining regular activities. Physical function parameters were assessed using standardized tests measuring cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, and balance. The adapted yoga program, conducted by qualified instructors, comprised 8 weeks of sessions, 5 days a week, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes. Statistical analyses confirmed the normal distribution of data and employed paired sample t-tests to assess pre-and post-test differences, with SPSS version 20.0 used for analysis, setting the significance level at 0.05. Results. After undergoing 8 weeks of adapted yoga training, the results showed a significant improvement in the upper body strength (p < 0.04), lower body strength (p < 0.001), core strength (p < 0.002), flexibility (p < 0.00), and static balance (p < 0.00). However, there was no significant difference in body fat and cardiorespiratory endurance between adapted yoga training. Conclusions. This study highlights the potential of adapted yoga programs as an intervention for improving physical functioning in students with mild ID. These findings indicate that the imlementation of adapted yoga can be a valuable and accessible intervention for enhancing physical functioning in this population. Yuvaraj, D., Dibakar, D., Prem, K. Determining the most important indicators affecting the failure risk of conventional and sharia rural banks
This study identifies key variables influencing the risk of failure in Indonesia's Conventional and Sharia Rural Banks (BPR and BPRS) and proposes strategies to mitigate these risks. Using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method, the study engaged 11 respondents, including banking practitioners from Conventional and Islamic Commercial Banks, Rural Banks, Islamic Rural Banks, and academics. Data were analyzed with Super Decision software and Excel. Results reveal four critical variables: 1) macroeconomic, 2) microprudential, 3) macroprudential, and 4) bank internal variables. The welfare aspect of macroeconomic variables emerged as the most significant, followed by the liquidity indicator in microprudential variables and the internal resilience indicator in macroprudential variables. These findings guide strategies to enhance banking performance and reduce failure risks. Regulators and the government should prioritize macroeconomic welfare indicators to strengthen the banking system and address factors contributing to BPR and BPRS failures. 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. Deterministic, Stochastic, and Deep Learning Approaches to Understand the Economic Fluctuations in India
In the present work, a new mathematical framework is proposed for studying the interrelation among population growth rate, GDP, inflation rate, and unemployment rate within deterministic and stochastic frameworks. The values of the parameters of the proposed model are estimated using real data from India. The local and global uniqueness of solutions is established for the stochastic model. The deterministic model is solved by using the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton predictor-corrector method, and Milstein's method is used for solving the stochastic model. Numerical simulations correlated quite strongly with observed data, while projections for the 20242030 period indicate that controlled population growth bodes well for the outlook of the economy for India, supporting economic prosperity alongside reduced inflation and better employment conditions. The findings presented in this work are correlational; therefore, to find the possible cause for this phenomenon, further research is required with detailed datasets. Comparing our model's GDP predictions with that obtained using a long short-term memory recurrent neural network model returned very high values of predictive accuracy, thus reinforcing the strength and reliability of our framework. 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd. -

Detrimental effects of microplastics in aquatic fauna on marine and freshwater environments A comprehensive review
The world is ever evolving and new technologies are popping up everywhere. New inventions and discoveries have created a better world, but not a sustainable one. The whole earth is drowning in various pollutants and garbage. Plastic pollution has garnered sufficient attention and there are various teams and organizations working toward cleaning our beaches, parks, and environment. However, all these actions will not suffice as plastics have trickled down into microplastics, which are posing a greater threat to our water systems and aquatic fauna. Several ongoing researches focus on marine microplastics, while only 13% of studies are on freshwater. Research on microplastics is now on the rise, with new strategies and restrictions being put into place to curb its accumulation in our marine and freshwater environments. In a recent study, microplastics were found to be present in human blood with. Out of 22 people tested, 17 test subjects had microplastics present in their blood. Developing a Framework and Wireframe for AI-Driven Personalization and Recommendation Systems in Library Management: A Design Thinking Approach
This research develops a framework and wireframes for an AI-driven personalization and recommendation system designed to enhance Library Management Systems (LMS). AI adapts library services dynamically to individual user characteristics and behaviors, such as reading preferences and interaction patterns, using predictive algorithms and behavioral analysis to deliver tailored recommendations. The study is primarily grounded in a User-Centered Design Thinking approach to ensure the system is intuitive, responsive, and meets diverse user needs. The proposed framework emphasizes seamless data integration and adaptive interface design. Prototypes created using Figma reflect intuitive, inclusive, and accessible features aligned with user needs. The prototype was evaluated in a controlled environment with high-frequency LMS users using the System Usability Scale (SUS) to assess usability and user satisfaction, achieving a score indicating excellent usability. Although the AI processing engine remains conceptual, this research provides a structured foundation for the future implementation of AI-driven recommendation systems in LMS, supporting enhanced user engagement and improved Selective Dissemination of Information through personalized and inclusive library experiences. 2026 P. Developing a global sustainable electricity use index using the pressure-state-response framework
This study analyse and compare the sustainable electricity usage in 60 countries listed on the official websites of World Energy Consumption Statistics and Climate Bond Initiative. The study also analyses the impact of increased usage of sustainable electricity on the economies' dependence on non-renewable energy sources in the evaluation system. We used a standard index system based on the Pressure-State Response (PSR) model to measure global sustainable electricity usage. Model results convey that Norway is the best performer in sustainable electricity usage, while several European countries display commendable scores, confirming their commitment to sustainable electricity practices. On the other hand, despite being the leading economies in terms of GDP, major economies such as the United States, China, Japan, and India have underperformed compared to others in the evaluation system. The study employs regression techniques to explain the relationship between sustainable electricity usage and non-renewable energy dependence. Results confirm a negative relationship between the variables, indicating the role of sustainable energy practices in reducing fossil fuel consumption. Developing a Model of Content Marketing in Creative Economy Marketing Strategies to Influence Consumer Purchase Intentions
The creative economy, which is a cluster of industries encompassing arts and crafts, audio and video, visual arts, architecture, performing arts, fashion, design, and so on, building on human creativity, knowledge, and technology, is to be given more precedence in the Indian economy. This work aims at building a model that can act as a foundation to promote the creative economys performance by keeping marketing function as the key component to success. The model contemplates what factors of content marketing activities have to be prioritized so as to help a creative business unit increase its visibility and impact the attention of consumers. This study classifies the model into two components. Component 1: creative business unit model and Component 2 of the content marketing strategy model. As the model is a working model and is not proven empirically, it can be further used by researchers and marketers for advanced research and development. Developing a psychometric scale to measure motherhood stress among newly working mothers in Indias IT sector
While becoming a mother is an incredible blessing, it can also be a very stressful time for women. India has a unique cultural and economic diversity, with women facing distinct challenges in their role as new mothers, including family obligations and a tendency toward a patriarchal mindset. This research aims to identify the unique stress factors related to motherhood stress for a new working mother in the IT sector and to create a scale to measure these factors. The study employed a mix of qualitative methods, such as focus group discussions, and quantitative research methods, including a pilot survey among 115 mothers, to develop a new scale for motherhood stress. Four main factors were identified through exploratory factor analysis: career-related stress, adequacy of support systems, maternal guilt, and self-efficacy. A new 31-item scale is proposed. Internal consistency, reliability, and validity were established for all items on the scale, with a KMO value of 0.826 and a Cronbach's alpha of 0.840. This new scale will be a useful tool for organizations to understand motherhood stress among newly working mothers and to adopt practices that reduce stress and address prejudices through interventions such as anti-discrimination policies, managerial sensitization, flexible work options, career counseling, and peer support. For policymakers, this study highlights the need for an industrial policy that recognizes the cultural setting and the unique challenges faced by Indian working mothers, as well as the importance of rigorous enforcement of maternity policies to ensure equitable treatment for them. 2026 AESS Publications. Developing a steady state wear equation for AA7050 hybrid composites/steel interface at elevated temperature
In this research work, an attempt was made to reinforce AA7050/5Gr composites with multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) of varying weight percentages processed through stir casting route. SEM with EDS mapping revealed that the particles were uniformly distributed over the composites. Hardness reduces with increasing MWCNT weight percentage owing to the inverse hall petch effect and increment in void content. A third-body abrasion, which happens when the CNT in the aluminium matrix material detaches from the surface and erodes material from the composites pin as well as the counter face, causes the wear resistance to rise with the addition of CNT particles. A mechanically mixed layer, which avoids direct metal-to-metal contact and thus increases wear resistance, was created at the abraded surface and at high temperature, where the reduction of wear rate was due to the development of oxide protective layer. A steady-state wear equation for the contacting surface at high temperature (R = 1/Y ?(ln W/2X)) for AA7050 hybrid compositessteel interface was developed. The enhancement in wear resistance was directly proportional to the proportion of ferrous content present on the surface, which was confirmed on the elemental analysis. Pock marks, micropits, craters and cracks were the features observed on the worn surface morphology, whereas delamination and plasticisation were the observed modes of wear mechanism. 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. -
Developing an Advanced Cybersecurity Framework and Blueprint: A Contemporary Approach to Counter Hacking Through Reverse Engineering Techniques
Recently many of the world's most secure networks have been breached by hackers, resulting in damage, information theft, data corruption, and threats to both national and international security. Protection experts are now doubting the dependability and efficacy of the current protection measures against hacking assaults in light of this dire situation. This research will use a variety of accepted practice models, global standards, information security frameworks, and best practices to achieve this goal of developing a framework and blueprint for a specialized hacking countermeasure. The deliverable outcome is a technical and administrative hacking countermeasure framework and blueprint because the study will concentrate on technological management practices in addition to hacking countermeasure techniques and tools. The framework and the blueprint were validated and authorized, and the effectiveness and reliability of the study deliverable outcome were confirmed using questionnaire and interview surveys, finding that it fully met the established objectives and scope of work. Furthermore, the validation has demonstrated that the introduced solutions for the Defense-in-Breadth and the deception and concealment strategies can further improve the hacker countermeasure and the development of SNORT rules, the construction of a prototype, and the execution of live testing with the ultimate goal of closing the security gap created by hacker countermeasures in the present defense-in-depth-based security models.
