Synthesis, Process Parameter Control and Performance of Nano Ceramic Coatings for Diesel Engine Applications
Ceramics are non-metallic inorganic solids which are used in various forms (bulk and newlinecoatings) and environments (low and high temperature) to provide protection from newlinethermal, wear or chemical attack. Due to their high melting point, compressive newlinestrength, oxidation and corrosion resistant properties, ceramics are strong, hard, newlinebrittle and harsh environment resistant. Ceramic coatings are generally applied on newlinemetal components to either enhance their life or augment the performance of the devices they are mounted on. Furthermore, coatings being thin (few small units to hundreds of microns); they do not demand significant alteration in component design. Among the many types of coatings used in engineering applications, Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBC) and wear resistant coatings (WRC) are used to protect metallic components from thermal and mechanical damages respectively. 6 to 8%Yttria stabilized zirconia (6-8% Y2O3-ZrO2), generally designated as 8YSZ has been newlineextensively used as TBC and alpha alumina (and#945;-Al2O3) find applications as WRC. 250 to 300m thick micron grained TBC, with grain sizes typically up to 20 m or even higher are well known to thermally insulate diesel engine combustion chamber to provide enhanced fuel efficiency characteristics. 8YSZ and and#945;-Al2O3 coatings also find use in power plants, textiles, automotive and aero-space industries etc. to provide benefits like improved product quality and energy efficiency, extended wear life, reduced maintenance cycles and costs etc. Among ceramic coatings, nanostructured coatings have received further interest because of their extraordinary properties including enhanced hardness, strength, ductility, and toughness when compared with coatings with micron grained newlinemicrostructure. Nanostructured zirconia is also expected to serve as advanced TBC in newlineengine applications, although information on its feasibility and the technology is mostly classified. -

Going Organic: Empirical Study on Awareness of Organic and Aquaponically Grown Vegetables
In a world of constantly changing dynamics of lifestyle and health-culture, it has become necessary for individuals to constantly keep a check on their diet and its contents. Increasing levels of pollution and stress negatively affects both, the health and longevity of an individual. Owing to a decline in average health, more and more people today have started looking for alternatives that could make their diet cleaner and healthier. One such alternative identified is organic produce, which is 100% chemical free, and therefore healthier than conventionally produced food products. However, organic produce is highly expensive, making it less attractive to the masses. Aquaponics, is one such technique of producing organic vegetables in a sustainable manner, thereby reducing its cost. This paper aims to understand the awareness levels of Aquaponics as a technique of organic agriculture. The study performs various tests in order to understand the levels of awareness of Aquaponically grown organic produce within the country. The findings of the study prove that factors such as the prices of organic vegetables, their availability and brand recognition play a major role in influencing the purchase decision made by consumers. On the other hand, factors such as education levels of the consumers or their income levels do not have a major impact on their purchase patterns of organic vegetables. Further analysis revealed that greater awareness about Aquaponics in general, and increased production of organic vegetables through Aquaponics also has a positive impact on the purchase of such vegetables. 2020 International Farm Management Association and Institute of Agricultural Management. -
Authentication of symmetric cryptosystem using anti-aging controller-based true random number generator
In todays digital world, data protection is extremely important. Every companys data is a valuable asset, so its important to ensure that it's secured from outside threats. Information security is not only an effective but also a necessary element to protect data from unauthorized access. The confidentiality of any communication system is strengthening with the help of random number generators along with some analog circuitry. This type of analog models demands more power and area. So analog circuit-based hardware Random Number Generators (RNG) are least preferred over digital RNGs. To improve the security every industry depends on the one-time password (OTP). Which gives the security but generation of the OTP is very easy. Random number generator is used for the generation of OTP. Similarly, hacking such OTP is easier than creating them. This paper introduces the Anti-Aging controller TRNG, a highly stable high-performance random number generator Anti-Aging Cryptographically Secured True Random Number Generator (AACTRNG). Implementation of this work can be done by using TANNER EDA Tools and ModelSim-Altera 6.4a (Quartus-II 9.0) used for the simulation to retrieve random numbers. 2021, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. -
Influence of SERPINA1 Gene Polymorphisms on Anemia and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Background. Anemia is one of the predominant hematological conditions, whereas chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a predominant respiratory disease. These two diseases were found to be interlinked, but the physiological pathways are still unclear. Aim. The current study has been aimed at analysing the genetic interrelationship between anemia and COPD in accordance with different altitudes. Methodology. The genetic analysis was performed in the SERPINA1 gene of anemia, COPD, and healthy individuals for the analysis of single nucleotide polymorphism at rs28949274 and rs17580 locations. Result and Discussion. The single nucleotide polymorphism at the locations rs28949274 and rs17580 was present in both anemic and COPD patients. The COPD patients were more prone to mutations (63% had rs28949274, and 11% had rs17580 polymorphisms) than the anemic patients (40% had rs28949274, and 1% had rs17580 polymorphisms). On the basis of altitude, high-altitude individuals were found to be more susceptible to both the polymorphisms. Conclusion. Based on the current findings, we suggest that the SERPINA1 gene has a positive correlation with anemia as well as COPD, and the increase in altitude also influences the diseased conditions in a positive manner. 2022, SAGE Publications Ltd. Does the nifty sectoral indices shake hands with nifty?: A time series analysis
Capital market in absolute sense is regarded as the mirror of the economy. Economy is a combination of various sectors. A sectoral index acts as barometer for the performance of that sector. As sectors are interrelated, this calls for studying the vulnerability of the each sector with the market as a whole .With an attempt to contribute to the meager amount of research on the sectoral indices of Indian capital market, this study aims to analyze the dependence of Nifty on its sectoral variants. This research will help in identifying the sector that has been the cause of movement in the market which can be beneficial in understanding and predicting the potential movement in the market by giving an inside of the vicious circle. The study include unit root test, co-integration and Granger causality test. The results of unit root test reveal that all the indices are non-stationary. It was observed that there are no co-integrating equations which was also discovered in the previous papers. The granger casualty test reveal that Auto, Bank, Energy and pharma are the sectors that have causal relation with the Nifty and Financial services, FMCG and IT sectors are the ones that do not have any causal relation with the Nifty. How efficient are public sector banks in India? A non-parametric approach
This study examines the efficiency of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in India using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Analysis is carried out on a sample of 19 PSBs that are existed during the study period from 2005 to 2018. There are two different aspects deliberated, namely technical efficiency of PSBs and the growth in their productivity. Input variables envisaged for the study are deposits, borrowings, fixed assets, and the number of employees. Loans and advances along with investments act as output variables to measure technical efficiency and productivity. The results indicate that the technical efficiency of PSBs ranges between 97% and 100%. Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, and Oriental Bank of Commerce outperformed their peers with 100% technical efficiency. Productivity growth among the sampled banks during the study period stood between 0.8% and 20%. However, Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, and Oriental Bank of Commerce registered 9.1%, 5.4% and 6.4% productivity growth, respectively. The results reveal that PSBs are working hard to optimize resource utilization. Researchers around the world can use DEA as a tool to measure the efficiency of banks with different input and output variables related to financial, marketing and managerial performance. Study of effect of modulations on the onset of rayleigh benard convection in a couple stress fluid
In this thesis we study the linear and non-linear analyses of Rayleigh-Benard convection in a couple stress fluid. The effect of rotational modulation, temperature modulation and gravity modulation in the presence of external constraints like magnetic field and electric field are studied. The problems investigated in this thesis throw light on externally controlled convection in a couple stress fluid. The problems investigated in this thesis have possible applications in geophysics, astrophysics, oceanography engineering and experiment/ space situations with g-jitter connected with gravity simulation studies. with this motivation, we investigate in this thesis four problems and, their summary is given below one by one. (i)Linear and non-liner analyses of rotational modulation on Rayleigh-Benard convection in a couple stress fluid. The linear and non-linear analyses of Rayleigh-Benard convection in a couple stress fluid with rotational modulation is studied. The linear and non-linear analyses are, respectively based on normal mode technique and truncated representation of fourier series. The expression for Rayleigh number and correction Rayleigh number are obtained using regular perturbation method in the case of liner theory. The resulting no-autonomous lorenz model obtained in no-linear analysis is solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg45 method to quantify the heat transport. The effect of rotational modulation is shown to be stabilizing there by leading to a situation of reduced heat transfer. The problem suggests an elegant method of controlling internal convection.(ii) Linear and non-linear analyses of gravity modulation on Rayleigh-Benard convection in a weakly electrically conducting couple strss fluid. The effect of time-periodic body force on the onset of Rayleigh-Benard convection in weak electrically conducting couple stress fluid is investigated. The stability of the horizontal fluid layer heated from below is examined by assuming time periodic body acceleration. -
Conductivity/Electrochemical Study of Polyvinyl pyrrolidone-Poly(vinyl alcohol)/I3? Thin Film Electrolyte for Integrated Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells and Supercapacitors
Abstract: The current era focuses not only on producing solar energy but also preserving it for future use. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) and supercapacitors (SC) are such energy-based devices. DSSCs capture the solar energy and SCs store this captured energy. A natural anthocyanin dye extracted from Garcinia indica (kokum fruit) was used in the DSSCs. SnO2, one of the promising electrode materials for DSSC, was synthesized via a microwave technique. Blend polymer electrolytes (BPE) were prepared through a solution casting technique. A polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) blend with varying concentrations of potassium iodide, along with iodine dopant, was prepared as a BPE electrolyte composition. The best of the PVA-PVP/KI composition was chosen using Nyquist plots of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Varying the temperature, the dielectric and conductivity study of the chosen composition was studied in detail. A fast/single-step synthesis technique, namely a laser-engraved approach, was used for few-layer graphene synthesis. This graphene serves as a common platform for the DSSC-SC integrated device: as a counter electrode in DSSC and graphene-graphene symmetric electrode in SC. A DSSC-SC integrated device was fabricated and characterized using various analytical and microscopy techniques. The integrated device showed a 0.42 fill factor and 0.56% efficiency. The discharge time for integrated DSSC-SC cells was found to be increased threefold. Graphical Abstract: [Figure not available: see fulltext.] 2020, The Author(s). -

Destination Resilience and Smart Tourism Ecosystem : A Destination Management Framework for Competitiveness
Over the past many decades, the travel and tourism industry has been at the forefront of adapting to new changes and accepting the latest technologies. Today's travelers are sophisticated and knowledgeable, as they have all the information available to them easily, which contributes to fast and quick decision making. The world is gradually changing into a much more intelligent and advanced platform that makes it possible to employ techniques like augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. This has proven to be very successful in a variety of fields, including education, healthcare, marketing, and communication. The current study focuses on incorporating smart tourism strategies to build a sustainable ecosystem at destinations, which enhances the competitiveness of the destination and makes it easier for value co- creation among the different stakeholders. Research suggests that although industry-led and government-initiated projects seem to prioritize the use of smart applications in destinations in theory, practical implementation appears to lag behind. Less research has been done in India on gamification, smart wearable technology at travel destinations, and the practical application of AR and VR tools. The study revolves around the South Indian State of Kerala, which has been a pioneer in tourism promotion in the country. In addition to proposing a framework for destination management and tourism competitiveness with smart tourism applications, this study aims to investigate the practical implications of smart tourism tools and technologies at destinations. To shed more light on the findings, a mixed methodology approach is used to analyze the data using a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods. The study's conclusions have significant ramifications for destination management, strategic planning, and the application of smart technologies at travel locations. -
Spectroscopic investigation on shuttlecock-shaped liquid crystalline trimers: Mesomorphic behaviour and its application in optical storage devices
In this paper, we discuss the synthesis and characterization of 2,3,4-tris[n-((4-(-cyanophenyl)diazenyl)phenoxy)alkyloxy]benzonitrile obtained by coupling 2,3,4-trihydroxy benzonitrile and (E)-4-((4-((n-bromoalkyl)oxy)phenyl)diazenyl)benzonitrile, pertain to shuttlecock shaped liquid crystals. The molecular structure was confirmed by NMR spectroscopic and elemental analyzer. The thermal behavior of the trimers was assessed using a polarizing optical microscope (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The three diazo groups in the trimers enabled us to study the photo-isomerization effect and evaluate their potential applications in optical storage devices. Importantly, we found these trimers easy to synthesize and process, paving the way for cost-effective alternatives to traditional LC materials. We fabricated an optical storage device to study the light effects on shuttlecock-shaped LC trimers, demonstrating that the geometry of the trimers plays a crucial role in determining structure-property relationships. 2024
