Impact of chitosan and chitosan-based nanoparticles on genetic transformation: an overview
Currently, the primary challenge to modern agricultural science is to meet the global demand for products and ensure food security for the growing population. No doubt the conventional plant breeding techniques and use of agrochemicals to obtain greater crop productivity and variety have been established to fight against biotic and abiotic stress in plants for better yield of agricultural products. The scientific community is exploring better techniques that can satisfy the need of mankind without affecting the ecosystem. Genetic engineering in plants is a recent advancement in the field of plant biotechnology and is more precise and can quickly obtain the desired trait in plants. This technology majorly focuses on improving the crop yield and quality by expressing desirable genes that are responsible for desirable traits such as tolerance to extreme conditions, herbicide, pest resistance, and enhanced secondary metabolite production, which is of medical importance. Nanomaterial-mediated genetic transformation is one reliable and efficient means of crop improvement for sustainable development in agricultural science. This technology has revolutionized modern agriculture as they are used as an effective delivery system to plants. Chitosan-based nanoparticles find their best application as nano-carrier due to their intrinsic properties such as cationic, biocompatible, high loading capacity, and good penetration potential with good release kinetics. Thus chitosan nanoparticles are used to deliver different types of genetic materials such as DNA, RNA, miRNA, siRNA, pDNA, CRISPR/Cas9 single guide RNA for plant transformation. This chapter provides an overview of chitosan nanoparticles as a delivery system and with a focus on their application as a safe genetic delivery system in plants. 2022 Elsevier Inc. Impact of chitosan and chitosan nanoparticles on seed germination: probabilities and prospects
Agriculture is the science and practice of making plants and animals for the food for animals, and humans at large. It is used not only for food but also for other needs like wool, silk, leather, etc and now we start to use these agricultural practices for making plants and animals as bioreactors for making valuable pharmaceuticals. But, the main segment of agriculture is related to the cultivation of plants. Even though many types of plant propagation systems are available, the use of seeds is considered to be the most commonly used method in many crop varieties. The productivity of the crops is largely depending on healthy seedling production. There are many methods including the traditional methods to improve seedling development. Recent scientific developments help in the development of better seedlings and thereby the crop yield. Chitosan and its nanoparticles are being used in agriculture in different aspects starting from seed germination and seedling development apart from the use in controlled release of the nutrients. In the present chapter, the use of chitosan and chitosan nanoparticles in agriculture especially in the stages of seed germination and seedling development in different crop varieties is discussed. 2022 Elsevier Inc. Impact of Childhood Trauma on Psychological Distress and Personality Pathology in Young Adults
Adulthood is a time of change, thus stressful. A predetermining factor to this is a provision for a safe environment during the crucial years of life (childhood). Children make meanings of everything and are more dynamic in the early developmental years. It is a basis for their overall development and defines their coping mechanisms during adulthood. Therefore, if they develop faulty meanings of themselves, others, and the world at large, it can alter their abilities to function during adulthood. It is fundamental to understand the psychological well-being and personality traits in adulthood by this very nature of traumatic experiences in childhood. This paper is a conceptual framework discussing a three-tier model to retrospectively understand the impact of childhood trauma on psychological distress and personality pathology in adulthood. This paper suggests future research to focus on developing intervention and prevention models for young adults (childhood trauma survivors) on positive parenting practices. Impact of Celebrity Credibility in Social Advertising: A Systematic Review of Rahul Dravids Anti-tobacco Campaign Endorsement
Tobacco cessation programs have had their share of hits and misses. While state-controlled organizations invest in such programs every year, it is hard to trace their effectiveness. This is a bigger challenge when celebrities are enrolled to endorse such programs. Several studies that track celebrity endorsements for marketing commercial products have validated the influence of celebrities on brand-related outcomes. This study provides a systematic review of a celebrity endorsement of an anti-tobacco advertisement. To conduct a systematic review of a celebrity endorsement, we examined the responses of celebrity fans on source (celebrity) credibility factors and their attitude towards the social cause endorsement. A sample of 258 celebrity fans was surveyed using a questionnaire. The survey instrument contained a 15-item scale to measure celebrity factors of physical attractiveness, expertise and trustworthiness. Further, demographic details, social media activity and cigarette consumption details were captured along with cognitive and affective responses towards the anti-tobacco endorsement featuring the celebrity. It was found that physical attractiveness and trustworthiness of the celebrity were found to be influencing the attitude of the fan towards social cause. In addition, the study revealed the significant influence of education on attitude towards social cause in contrast to age and gender as evident in previous studies. The study provides very important insights for advertisers of social causes on effective use of celebrities as part of their communication campaigns. 2021, School of Management Sciences. Impact of Brexit on bond yields and volatility spillover across France, Germany, UK, USA, and India's debt markets
Britain's decision to exit the EU lead to disruptions in global markets. This study investigates the change in the return and volatility spillover pattern due to the repercussions of the Brexit vote between the US, France, the UK, Germany, and India's 10-year government bond yields by applying the VAR and GARCH-BEKK models. The findings demonstrate a substantial rise in the return spillover to India and USA 10-year government bond yields following the Brexit vote compared to the pre-Brexit vote era. In addition, the results showed evidence of unidirectional volatility spillover from India to France, bidirectional volatility spillover between the USA and India, and unidirectional volatility spillover from the UK to India 10-year government bond market post-Brexit vote. However, there was no interconnection between these markets before the Brexit vote. Therefore, the Brexit vote did affect and significantly increased the linkage between the US, France, the UK, and India's 10-year government bond market. The increase in correlation in India-US, India-UK, and India-France's 10-year government bond markets will help predict and have an important implication for hedgers, decision-makers, and portfolio managers if similar political events occur in the future. Impact of boundary conditions on Rayleigh-Bard convection: stability, heat transfer and chaos
The paper compares the results of Rayleigh-Bard convection problem for rigid-rigid-isothermal, rigid-free-isothermal and free-free isothermal boundaries. A minimal Fourier-Galerkin expansion yields the generalized-Lorenz-model whose scaled version is reduced to the Stuart-Landau-model using the multiscale-method. Nusselt number is estimated for both steady and unsteady regimes. Regular, chaotic, and periodic natures of the solution are studied using the Hopf-Rayleigh-number and by means of a bifurcation diagram. The linear and weakly-nonlinear-analyses reveal that the onset of regular and chaotic motions in the case of rigid-free-isothermal boundaries happens later than that of free-free isothermal boundaries but earlier than rigid-rigid-isothermal boundaries. It is shown that the scaled-Lorenz-model possesses all the features of the classical-Lorenz-model. Beyond the value of the Hopf-Rayleigh-number, we observe chaotic-motion between two consecutive spells of periodic motion. It is found that one can also have a window of periodicity for all three boundaries. 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. -

Impact of blended education system on outcome-based learning and sector skills development
An effective education system transforms the teaching and learning process into innovative idea generation and independent working ability. A blended education system is the representation of effective education that connects the teachers, students, and educational institutions for content development, delivery of effective teaching methods, and choice-based learning. The motive for initiating the research work was to address the demand for outcome-based learning in society that can fulfill the sector-wise human resource requirements and sector skill development. A blended education system helps to design effective courses and degrees with the capacity of choosing subjects, lectures, and teachers either in online or offline mode of education. The system may also assist in preparing the learning pattern like classroom-based learning, internship-based learning, or learning through project works. The researchers identified the dependent and independent variables with the help of expert opinion. The questionnaire was designed with all relevant questions based on the variables and refined through a pilot study. The research outcomes are described by understanding the nature of quantitative data using statistical tools like frequency distribution, t-test, and ANOVA test with the connectivity of qualitative data and the reality of social issues. 2023 IEEE. -
Impact of bioconvection on the free stream flow of a pseudoplastic nanofluid past a rotating cone
In the current work, the repercussions of Brownian motion and thermophoresis on the three-dimensional free stream flow of tangent hyperbolic (pseudoplastic) nanofluid past a rotating cone are explored. The tangent hyperbolic model expresses the characteristics of a shear-thinning nanofluid. Furthermore, oxytactic microorganisms were used as mixers to actively stabilize the nanoparticles. The movement of these microorganisms within the nanofluid gives rise to a major phenomenon termed bioconvection. The flow of nanofluid past a rotating cone finds applications in the field of nuclear reactors, biomedical applications, solar power collectors, steam generators, and so on. The mathematical model is designed using Buongiorno's model that describes the two major slip mechanisms experienced by the nanoparticles moving within a fluid namely thermophoretic force and Brownian motion. The model thus formed is nondimensionalized using the apt similarity transformation. The resulting system is solved by the (Formula presented.) technique by adapting the shooting method. The velocity, temperature, concentration, and motile density profiles are graphically interpreted for different flow parameters involved in the study. It was observed that thermophoresis reduces concentration and enhances the temperature whereas Brownian motion enhanced both temperature and concentration profiles. Also, the increase in the mixed convection parameter effectively decreased the temperature of the nanofluid. 2022 Wiley Periodicals LLC. -
