- Description
- Health and human rights are critical components in conflict and post-conflict soci-eties, where the impacts of violence can severely undermine both systems. During conflicts, the acute health crises stem from disrupted healthcare services, scarcity of essential medicines, and the breakdown of public health infrastructure. Vulnerable populations, including women and children, often face heightened risks of disease, malnutrition, and mental health issues, exacerbated by displacement and trauma. Post-conflict recovery prioritizes restoring health services while addressing human rights violations that may have occurred during the turmoil. The integration of hu-man rights frameworks in health care provision is essential for rebuilding trust and promoting equity. Health programming in post-conflict settings must also focus on accountability for violations, promoting transparency and active community partic-ipation. Prioritizing health in the aftermath of conflict promotes resilience, paving the way for sustainable peace and the promotion of fundamental human dignity. 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
