The purpose of this article is to investigate the ways in which effective market creation influences the international performance of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) that are involved in international e-commerce. Using the effectuation theory as a foundation, we propose that businesses can generate demand in foreign markets by developing innovative new ways for customers to interact and engage with them in the digital world.
