Examining the relationship between e-service recovery quality and e-service recovery satisfaction moderated by perceived justice in the banking context
Purpose: The study focuses on the core issue faced by bankers on how to retain existing customers who have encountered an e-service failure and who are skeptical about the justice received through the service recovery process. It further endeavors to create an internal bench-marking model for assessing e-service recovery satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach: By the experimental study, the authors confirm a measurement model using structural equation modeling for examining the impact of perceived service recovery quality antecedents on e-service recovery satisfaction moderated by perceived justice. In total, responses from 399 e-banking customers, who had experienced a e-service failure, were recorded using a 5-point Likert scale with a structured questionnaire. Findings: The perceived e-service recovery quality antecedents identified were perceived information quality, digital commitment, perceived employee performance and perceived service orientation of organization. The empirical results revealed that perceived information quality was the most significant predictor of e-service recovery satisfaction. Perceived justice moderates the relation between perceived service recovery quality and e-service recovery satisfaction. Research limitations/implications: The research does not contemplate the e-service recovery satisfaction of customers who have undergone multiple service failures. Practical implications: The conclusions of the investigation suggest that the four antecedents of perceived e-service recovery quality model are suitable instruments for creating benchmarks for e-service recovery satisfaction for banks, and that perceived justice moderates the relationship between e-service recovery quality and e-service recovery satisfaction. Therefore, policymakers in banks can use this model to assess the e-service recovery quality, and they ought to enhance the perceived justice feel of the customers who have experienced a service failure. Originality/value: There remains scarcity of empirical research focusing on perceived information quality and digital commitment as antecedents of perceived e-service recovery quality and its effect on e-service recovery satisfaction in the banking context. Furthermore, similar studies within the banking sector have rarely considered perceived justice as a moderator variable. Hence, this paper attempts to accomplish the research gap by empirically testing the e-service recovery satisfaction level of a large sample of the population toward four antecedents of perceived e-service recovery quality rendered by banks and create a benchmark model to ascertain e-service recovery satisfaction. 2020, Emerald Publishing Limited. -
Examining the Relationship Between Acceptance of Technology Integration and Dimensions of TPACK Among Higher Secondary School Teachers in Kerala
The study uses the Unified Theory of Adoption and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to investigate how higher secondary school teachers in Kerala, India, connect to Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and technology adoption. Using 496 teachers from diverse backgrounds, the study revealed some important positive correlations between TPACK characteristics and UTAUT results. Strong technologically minded teachers are interested in incorporating technology into the classroom. Crucially for the quality of education, PK, PCK, and CK have a modest influence on technology acceptance. The study emphasises the need for specific professional development and supportive policies to fit Kerala's unique educational scene. With consequences for the whole educational scene, TPACK can encourage improved technology acceptance, particularly in sectors connected to technology. Future research should look at long-term changes in technology use, geographical comparisons, and how new technologies impact teaching approaches. Examining the Relationship between Academic Expectations and Suicidal Ideation among College Students in India Using the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide
Objective: As the second most populous country in the world, India accounts for over 20% of the global suicide deaths. Notably, young adults make up 38% of those who die by suicide in India. Yet, the literature on factors associated with suicide within this age group in India is limited. The Interpersonal Theory of Suicide (IPTS) posits thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness as constructs that heighten the risk for suicide. Testing mechanisms that may mediate the relationship between common stressors for young adults in India, such as academic expectations, and suicidal ideation are important to better understand factors contributing to suicide risk within this country. Method: Indian college students (N = 432, M age = 19.41, 73.1% male) completed questionnaires on academic expectations, thwarted belongingness, perceived burdensomeness, collectivism, and suicidal ideation. Results: Current suicidal ideation was endorsed at a rate of 38%. Academic expectancy from the self, perceived burdensomeness, and thwarted belongingness was significantly associated with suicidal ideation. The only significantly mediated pathway was academic expectancy from others to suicidal ideation through perceived burdensomeness. Collectivism was not a significant moderator in the model. Discussion: The sample endorsed high rates of suicidal ideation, highlighting the need for culturally appropriate interventions. Thwarted belongingness, perceived burdensomeness, and academic expectations from oneself may be relevant treatment targets for reducing suicidal ideation among college students in India.HIGHLIGHTS Over one-third of Indian university students endorsed suicidal ideation. Suicidal ideation related to ones own more than others academic expectations. Results offer support for the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide within this context. 2022 International Academy for Suicide Research. -
Examining the Prevalence and Impact of Physical Violence from a Psychological Perspective
Physical violence within marriages are pervasive issues that affect individuals globally, including in India. This essay examines the prevalence and impact of physical and sensual violence in India from a psychological perspective. The underreporting and stigmatization of these forms of violence pose significant challenges in understanding their true extent. Factors such as power imbalances, gender inequality, and cultural norms contribute to their perpetuation. The psychological consequences experienced by survivors include trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, emotional distress, sexual dysfunction, substance abuse, and self-harm. Additionally, the cycle of violence and revictimization further compounds the psychological impact. Addressing this issue requires legal reforms, raising awareness, promoting education, challenging cultural norms, providing support services, and ensuring accessible mental health support. By addressing the cultural, legal, and psychological dimensions, it is possible to create a society that is free from physical violence and supports survivors in their journey towards healing and empowerment. The objective of this study is to enhance comprehension of the issue of physical violence in India by examining its prevalence and impact. The findings of this research endeavour to facilitate the development of efficacious strategies and interventions to combat this widespread problem in the nation. 2023, Journal for ReAttach Therapy and Developmental Diversities. Examining the impact of maternal experiences of domestic violence on the mental health of their adolescent children in India
Background Domestic violence (DV) is experienced by one in three women in India and is linked to poor mental health outcomes. We hypothesize that maternal experiences of DV can have negative impacts on the mental health of their children. Previous studies have demonstrated this link in Western countries, however culturally specific manifestations of DV and mental health disorders and socio-cultural differences in parent-child relationships and home environments necessitate deeper understanding of the impacts of maternal experiences of DV on children in the Indian context. Methods This study presents a secondary analysis of data collected from a seven-center study in urban and rural India examining mental health disorders among adolescents aged 1217 years and psychological, physical, and sexual abuse affecting their mothers. The Indian Family Violence and Control Scale (IFVCS) was used to examine experiences of DV among mothers and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric InterviewKid (MINI-Kid) was used to examine mental health outcomes among adolescents. Multivariate analyses examined the associations between maternal DV and adolescent mental disorders. Results Data from 2,784 adolescent-mother pairs were analyzed. In bivariate analyses, maternal experiences of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse were significantly associated with adolescent common mental disorders including anxiety and depression (p < 0.05). After adjusting for adolescent gender, site, and education status in the multivariate analysis, physical, sexual, and any DV were significantly associated with adolescent anxiety disorders and common mental disorders. Physical abuse was significantly associated with adolescent depressive disorders. Conclusions These results suggest that exposure to maternal DV significantly impacts adolescent mental health in India and underscore the need to develop trauma-informed school programs and enhance DV prevention for women in India. 2025 Gourisankar et al. EXAMINING THE IMPACT OF IMPOSTOR PHENOMENON ON PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AND PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT AMONG GRADUATE STUDENTS
Background: The mounting pressure to pursue novel endeavours, excel in academics and extracurriculars, improper mentoring, and looming deadlines have primarily been responsible for graduate students succumbing to the cut-throat competition prevalent in universities. In trying to keep up with the growing expectations, they may experience Impostor Phenomenon, which is often accompanied by feelings of unwarranted inadequacy and intellectual fraudulence-where students constantly question their capabilities despite evident success. Attributing their accomplishments to a stroke of luck, they believe they are not worthy of praise. These experiences of impostor phenomenon end up exacting a heavy toll on the mental well-being of graduate students and subsequently, their perceptions of available sources of social support. Purpose: In this context, the present investigation attempts to explore the impact of impostor phenomenon on psychological well-being and perceived social support among Indian graduate students; and analyze the gender differences in the experiences of impostor phenomenon. Design/Methodology/Approach: The sample consisted of 230 Indian graduate students (115 males and 115 females) aged 18-25 years, who had academic scores equivalent to, or above, 65%. Purposive sampling technique was employed to gather data using the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale, Ryffs Psychological Well-Being Scale, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Findings: Results of the study yielded that Impostor Phenomenon is a significant negative predictor of Psychological Well-Being, however no significant relationship was established with Perceived Social Support. No significant gender differences emerged from the data analysis. Conclusion: The results can be utilized heuristically to facilitate the identification of graduate students experiencing impostor phenomenon, provide early interventions, and prevent the culmination of the same into psychopathology, thus enriching the literature on this lesser-known phenomenon in an Indian context. 2022 RJ4All. -
Examining the Impact of Argument Quality and Source Credibility on Consumers Behavioral Intention Toward Green Cosmetics: The Moderating Role of Perceived Innovativeness
