Skill sets required to meet a human-centered Industry 5.0: A systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis
The first industrial revolution, known as Industry 1.0, was primarily concerned with mechanical engineering and water and steam. Electric power systems and mass production assembly lines were established during the second industrial revolution (Industry 2.0). The third industrial revolution (Industry 3.0) was defined as automatic manufacturing and the incorporation of electronics, computers, and information technology into manufacturing. The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) is automating business operations and advancing manufacturing to a level based on connected devices, smart factories, cyberphysical systems (CPS), and the internet of things (IoT), where machines will change how they interact with one another and carry out specific tasks. Industry 5.0, with all modern technologies, is aimed to be a harmonious balance between human and machine interaction, and has an emphasis on sustainable growth. Smart Antenna for Home Automation Systems
A smart antenna for home automation systems is suggested in this design. An antenna is a device that minimizes human movements while dealing with electronics systems and software. This smart antenna helps reduce physically challenged peoples movement and supports home automation systems. The presented antennas could be used for any small device, like a mobile, tablet, laptop, Wi-Fi, or WiMAX, which are essential in the current scenario. The presented smart antenna is capable of radiating a large frequency band from 3 to 13.8 GHz, which covers the .5-7 GHz (5G(I) Sub-6 GHz band), Wimax 3.5 and 5.5 GHz bands, WLAN 5.2 and 5.8 GHz bands, C 4-8 GHz Band, X 8-12 GHz Band, and other home automation applications with high efficiency. The impedance bandwidth of the smart antenna is 128%, with a size of 15x15x1.5 mm3. The suggested design includes a modified patch in the shape of a square patch attached with one circular element fed by a microstrip line. Circular pieces have been designed for better resonances at lower modes. The antenna is simulated with an FR4 substrate using a CST Simulator. The design is investigated by simulations and corresponding S-parameter results are presented. The robotics process automation is well described in Table 7.3. The proposed structure also demonstrates stable radiation patterns across the operating bandwidth. Smart car - accident detection and notification using amazon alexa
The high demand for automobiles has increased traffic hazards and road accidents. Life of the people is under high risk. This is because of the lack of the best emergency facilities available in the country. The proposed system can detect accidents in significantly less time and sends the basic information first to aid center and relatives of the victim on mobile and Amazon Alexa within a few seconds covering geographical coordinates. Various devices like Arduino UNO for car movement demonstration, Arduino Mega for accident detection and Raspberry Pi 3B for internet services gateway, accelerometer and impact sensor working together to detect an accident. All connected over the internet to generate a huge amount of data which holds a lot of information about the occurrence of the accident based on the speed and location and can be used to detect accident hotspots. The system also focuses on the safety of pedestrians where a safety band is programmed to perform the notification services using an emergency push button. The ESP8266 NodeMCU invokes the same services using a button on the module. Smart City Governance and Citizen Engagement
The smart city idea has been put into practice in numerous nations as a response to urban issues. With the ultimate goal of improving quality of life and well-being, smart cities are more and more eager to engage in fruitful dialogue with their residents, better understand their demands, and develop digital platforms for inciting collaborative initiatives between authorities and people. Prior researches have noted challenges with execution and the importance of smart citizens as key components of a smart city. Smart medical sensor
Medical sensors facilitate health-care applications to save a patient's life by continuously monitoring the patient's health. The combined feature of medical sensors and the fastest growing techniques that are Internet of things improves the accuracy of treatment. Internet of things techniques serve the smart and very effective medical service. Early diagnosis of the symptoms helps the health-care provider to get success in the treatment to save a patient's life. Many medical sensors are available in the health-care application that can monitor continuously patient health. Medical sensors can be wearable and nonwearable. There are some common parameters such as body temperature and a heart rate that are used to monitor human activity. These parameters are measured by using wearable and body-embedded sensors. The data collected from these parameters are analyzed by the medical devices for early detection of disease. Smart Portable Neonatal Intensive Care for Rural Regions
Every year, an increasingly large number of neonatal deaths occur in India. Premature birth and asphyxia are being two of the leading causes of these neonatal deaths. A well-regulated thermal environment is critical for neonatal survival. In the current scenario, it is impossible for the health centers in the rural areas of India to afford a neonatal incubator for every newborn due to its price and transportability. The successful delivery of neonates is hampered in India due to its increasing population along with limited technology and resources. Thus, a prototype of an incubator has been designed that is affordable, transportable, and energy saving for the health centers in the rural regions, with an AI-based decision support system. Smart production monitoring using drones in cyber-physical agricultural systems
The population of the world has shown a notable swift in recent years and the need for food has also gradually increased. Smart therapist: The mental health detector
In this fast-moving world, mental health disorder has turned to be one of the important issues which need utmost care and concern. According to the National Mental Health Survey Report, at least 14% of the India's population needs attention for mental disorders, of which stress, depression, and anxiety are the most common. An automated system that helps in detecting these mental disorders and thereby helps us to lead a better life by moulding our lifestyle is desirable. This chapter proposes an Intelligent Therapist based on machine learning which diagnoses a person's mental state through a set of questionnaires that helps in determining his/her mental state. The chatbot analyses the response and classifies them into different categories as per the severity of the disorder. The model is trained and tested on varying datasets to provide better accuracy in the understanding of human behaviour. Smartphone Usage, Social Media Engagement, and Academic Performance: Mediating Effect of Digital Learning
Smartphone has penetrated across all regions of India and all sections of the society, especially among the higher education student community. Smartphones with the internet, in turn, provide access to social media platforms. Smartphones and social media (SM) together provide several benefits to the users, and they also cause unwanted repercussions on the users such as adverse mental health, addiction, and laziness. But one of the important gains of smartphone and social media usage (SMU) is digital learning through them. Smartphones and SM are inevitable in the academic process of higher education students. The students use extensively the smartphone and SM for sharing information and content, for having peer discussion, for managing assignments, and for communicating with the instructors. So, this study tries to study the mediating effect of digital learning through smartphones and SM on the educational accomplishment of private university students in Bangalore, India. This study adopted the survey method of research which collected primary data through structured questionnaires from the private university students. The collected data were analyzed using students t test, One-way ANOVA, Chi-Square, and Structural Equation Modeling. Social cognition, person perception, and social categorisation as building blocks of the theory of mind
Day-to-day life presents us with numerous new experiences and exposure to different people, with social functioning being a major portion of one's living days. The theory of mind, a mental map of an individual in automating behaviour, is a process and product of one's social cognitions. There are evident changes across generations in terms of these cognitions and social processing, hence showing need for understanding the theory of mind of different generations, breaking it down into its component parts. The present study was conducted to understand the components of the theory of mind in relation to social functioning. Sixty-three participants across three different generations, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z, were subjected to focused group discussions and the collected data analysed using a grounded theory approach. The analysis identified five components of the theory of mind applicable to all generations: social perception, social judgment, people perception, people preference, and social categorisation. 2024, IGI Global. -

Social, Medical, and Educational Applications of IoT to Assist Visually Impaired People
General daily tasks have always been a problem for visually impaired people. Identification of daily objects becomes a hectic task. Traditional methods such as a walking stick and a guide dog have been helpful to the visually impaired for basic navigation. Such, methods have a lot of limitations and often fail under varied situations. Technologies such as Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), Image Processing (IP) Internet of Things (IoT), etc. have made a major contribution to overcoming the limitations. IoT brings a lot of technical and automated solutions to assist the visually impaired people. Data science and analytics are a major part of the process. Data accumulated via various sensors can be processed and used to identify obstacles and enhance basic navigation using haptic and voice feedback. Raw data goes through a series of analysis and refinement. This is then processed into a form which is understandable to the system and can be directly interpreted to perform various components of an application. These applications involve education, navigation, entertainment, security, consumer, etc. These applications are across various verticals of technologies differing in terms of hardware, software, and protocols. Various economically feasible and accurate solutions are now available. While, optimization remains an issue. These devices have generally been very helpful to ease the lives of visually impaired people. The main aim of this article is to provide essential details related to real-world applications of IoT in the field of education, healthcare, entertainment, security, navigation, and solutions to address the daily challenges faced by visually impaired people. The structure of the article includes introduction to IoT, applications of IoT in modern era is dealt in detail in Sect.10.1. Followed by hardware device and communication technologies in Sect.10.2. Socially responsible universities and student satisfaction: Case analysis
Universities play the dual role of providing new knowledge and inculcating a sense of social responsibility in student citizens to contribute to community development. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are often expected to be socially responsible. The principal focus of this chapter is to determine the dimensions of University Social Responsibility (USR) and examine its impact on student satisfaction. A case study research was conducted with 299 students from a private university in India. Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used to identify the dimensions of USR. A structural equation model was used to analyze the impact of USR on student satisfaction, with gender and volunteerism in USR activities as moderators. The results show that student satisfaction is influenced by their perception of USR activities undertaken by the university. Findings indicate that the degree of influence of USR on satisfaction is more among female than male students. Contrastingly, the degree of influence of USR on satisfaction remained the same for volunteers and non-volunteers, indicating that the university is transparent in its USR activities. The findings highlight the importance of USR actions and how these activities lead to increased student satisfaction. Socio-economic Development and Value Creation Through Corporate Social Responsibility: A Case Study of Bosch India Foundation
In recent years, it is mandatory for profitable organizations in India to work toward Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Many thinkers in the industry have appreciated the move of the Indian Government by mandating profitable businesses to take responsibility for society by sharing certain portions of the profit made by these organizations. This study focuses on various initiatives taken by BOSCH India Foundation (BIF) for socio-economic development and value creation through its CSR activities. The primary data are collected by conducting interviews with the seniorlevel managers working in the CSR department of the Bidadi plant. The data are also collected by visiting the field of action, discussing with various stakeholders and observing their initiatives. The secondary data are collected from published sources and official records of the company. This case study shows that BOSCH India Foundation is focusing on the development of the villages in Bidadi. Their CSR initiatives focus on education, agriculture and livestock development, health and hygiene, environment, women empowerment, youth development and access to potable water. This study analyzes the economic and social impacts it has created in the society.
