An investigation of various algorithms suitable for 3D compute on heterogeneous platform
This research explores the usage of heterogeneous computing, which is the current trend in the computing industry, for the 3D compute based on the collaborative algorithm. As a part of literature review the areas related to the heterogeneous computing is investigated, which includes OpenCL, General Purpose Graphical Processing Unit [ GPGPU ], collaborative algorithm. The novelty of this research work is the application of collaborative algorithms, which have been used in other areas to 3D compute. This exploration of 3D compute algorithm was part of the exercise in order to find the suitable 3D compute algorithm for the monocular image to binocular image conversation engine. Here the two algorithms, i.e., intelligent water drops and zombie crowd algorithm were implemented using OpenCL to run on heterogeneous platform. The performance of both the algorithm was measured on the experimental setup rig. Based on the above research exercise, it can be inferred that, the collaborative algorithm can indeed be suitable for 3D compute and it can be also noted that each algorithm is suitable for particular 3D compute. For years newspapers have sold papers through racks on the streets. With change in consumer behaviour, the sales and purchases of newspapers have also transformed. Technological advancement brought in a demand to be innovative and to suit the changing behaviour of the consumer. Newspaper like any other commodity has to fight for its survival and make an impact on the consumer??s mind. The days of ??Plan Buy?? have taken a backseat because of availability of many options for the product of the same kind. There comes a need to draw all the attention of the consumer to the devices of innovation in order to make a purchase. Newspapers therefore, have adopted different elements of the marketing communication mix of the integrated marketing communications to smartly market themselves at every level to reach and appeal to ever changing readers. The research will aim at studying the changes by the newspaper organization in order to market their newspaper through ??An Analysis of Marketing and Advertising Strategies of Deccan Herald, Bangalore.?? The research is aimed at studying the steps and procedures that are taken by the newspaper organization to position their newspaper to the target readers to get the desired market share. The research will also try and gauge the impact of the marketing and advertising strategies adopted. If there is an impact what might be the possible reasons and till what extent. The research will make a detailed analysis by interviewing people from Deccan Herald, Bangalore to get in-depth knowledge about the steps and procedures taken by the newspaper organization. Also, in addition a sample survey was conducted with a total sample size of 85 to gauge the impact. -

ANALYSIS OF TRANSITION OF FOLKTALE FROM ORAL TO TEXT TO VISUAL MEDIA CASE STUDY: KEIBU KEIOIBA (MANIPURI FOLKTALE)
Folklore is an art form, which consists of stories, songs, spells, proverbs, legends, belief, and other principles in a tradition of a culture, subculture, etc. The term "folk" can refer to any group of people whatsoever who share at least one common factor. In Manipuri tradition, the elders or grandparents to their grandchildren near a place called ??Phunga which means a ??fireplace in the vicinity of kitchen narrate folktale orally. It is a place where members of the family dines together and shares the stories of daily life. Hence, the name ??Phunga wari which means ??fireplace tale is also known as ??folktale in Manipuri culture. Manipur has a rich tradition of folktales since its inception. Keibu Keioiba is one of the most widespread folktales in Manipur. It is translated in many ways such as tiger head, half beast half human and a man tiger. It is represented in different ways: written (books), oral (oral transmission) and visual media (animation movie). The study aims to analyse the folktale Keibu Keioiba from oral tradition; books and animated movie to study the characteristics changes in the transition of medium. -
Analysis of Web Mining Patterns Using Custom-Built Apriori Algorithm
The dissertation entitled Analysis of Web Mining Patterns Using Custom-Built Apriori Algorithm has developed a custom-built apriori algorithm for the discovery of association rules in web log data. Web server log containing the information about all the web requests to the Christ university website is used for analysis. The methodology adapted by this research is a four step process, containing data preprocessing, frequent pattern discovery, analysis and developing a tool for implementing web mining. The custom built apriori takes the preprocessed weblog file as input and generates the frequent folders and the relationship among them. This thesis has also developed a tool written in java for this web usage mining process. The tool assists the user to execute the custom built apriori algorithm and to view the associations among folders based on the given support and confidence values to the tool. The web is a highly dynamic information source. Most of the organisations put information on the web because they want it to be seen by the world. Now a days the web is well beefed up with more information in an unstructured fashion. As the web and its usage continue to grow, there is an opportunity to analyse web data and extract useful knowledge from it. The objective of this research is to predict the user behaviour in interacting with the website that helps the website designer in improving the quality of website. The dissertation is organised into 5 chapters. Chapter1, Introduction starts with a brief overview of web mining and presents the objective of the study and the problem statement. Chapter 2, Literature review, discusses background work in the field of web mining and pattern discovery. Chapter 3, methodology elaborately discusses the process used for analysing the web patterns. Chapter 4 is dedicated for results and discussion. Chapter5, conclusion, summarises the inferences concluded based on the results obtained. ANALYSIS ON POSSIBILITIES OF SMARTPHONE USING THE COMPUTATIONAL CAPABILITY OF CLOUD
Cloud computing and mobile computing has become a big revolutionary stage in computer science communities. Both has become intertwined and facilitating end users in various fields. Cloud system administrators begin to enhance the cloud system with additional servers to help mobile devices, example is C2DM launched by Google. It is a PaaS model of cloud. It has enhanced the Smartphones limited battery power and low bandwidth using push technology. In some situations server need to push some short messages to mobile client like notification regarding new app update or event. For these kinds of features, polling or push mechanism can be used. In polling mechanism, mobile app pings server periodically and checks if any new data is available for download. Polling can make data on device stale and polling frequently can create stress on server and network. This approach is not suitable for mobile devices as it uses precious network bandwidth more and so battery consumption will be more. To overcome these Google has been introduced push technology known as C2DM which is enhancing the short comings of smart phone using the powerful computational resources of cloud. The thesis mainly concentrating on the working of C2DM, its architectural overview, life cycle overflow, enabling C2DM, sending and receiving message. Push messaging provides the possibility for mobile devices to receive messages from a content publisher via a cloud application, which is a fair example of Smartphone and cloud integration efficiency. Analytical Studies on Metal Complexes in Solution
Analytical chemistry is the study of separation, identification and quantification of the chemical components of natural and artificial materials. Mainly analytical chemistry deals with quantitative and qualitative analysis. It has applications in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, geology and other sciences and also in industries. Many analytical methods occupy a unique position because of its simplicity, less expensive instrumentation, high sensitivity and selectivity. A great development in spectrophotometry is based on development and measurement of colour. Molecules which do not give colour by themselves develop appreciable colour on reaction with chromogenic reagents and provide a method of analytical determination of molecules. So efforts are being directed towards finding suitable reagents, which have characteristic absorption with metal ions in spectrophotometric analysis. Molybdenum and vanadium are important elements both for industry and for biological systems The simultaneous determination of these metal ions in various samples are of great importance. Therefore efforts are being directed towards finding suitable reagents, which have characteristic colour reactions with microgram amounts of metal ions of interest for spectrophotometric analysis. Salicylaldehydep-chlorophenyl thiosemicarbazone(SAPCPTSC) as a chromogenic reagent for the extractive spectrophotometric determination of Vanadium(V) and Molybdenum(VI) is presented in this study. The reagent SAPCPSC gave instantaneous and stable yellow colour with Vanadium(V) and Molybdenum(VI) in the acidic pH range. The colour reactions in detail has been explored and the possibility of spectrophotometric determination of the micro amounts of vanadium(V) and molybdenum(VI) is established with necessary conditions. The stoichiometry of the complex is established by Jobs method of continuous variation and confirmed by mole ratio method. The stability constant, the standard deviation and the coefficient of variations are reported. Derivative spectrophotometry enables the exact determination ?maxof this type of metal ions. Molar absorptivity, Sandells sensitivity and quantitation limit values show that the proposed method is highly sensitive. The coloured species were stable over several hours making the method practicable. Many cations and anions do not interfere with the determination even if they are present in excess. Surfactants have the ability to solubilise a water insoluble complex or ligands and so micellar medium has also been employed so as to avoid the use of toxic organic solvents. Assessing Opportunities and Constraints of Community Engagement in Tourism Development at Hampi
Community Based Tourism will create a momentous milestone in improving the participation level of local communities in the arena of Heritage tourism as well as all the various branches of the travel and expedition industry. Whose heritage is being preserved, by whom, and for what purposes? (Shepherd 2006). This study particularly gives due emphasis on evaluating the level of participation from the resident???s part by assessing various development strategies offered by the respective authorities. The study also tries to address all the possible streams where the community can easily thrive and it also addresses the major obstacles which restricts their entry, indicating an inclusive approach towards community participation through community based tourism (CBT). Lack of cooperation among stakeholders was identified as challenges of CBT, (Tamir 2015). Tourism market of Hampi is developing year by year but the standard of living of the underprivileged community is always remains the same without any improvement and this is the core problem mentioned in the study. Quantitative research technique was used for the study with the help of a structured questionnaire which was used for collecting data. The collected data was analyzed with the help of quantitative data analysis software, SPSS. This research tries to bring out the various reasons behind the low level of community involvement in tourism industry with relevant evidence from the analyzed data. The study indicates the hopelessness of the community towards the major development strategies forwarded by the authorities especially Hampi Master Plan. It also addresses the poor level of education and lack of information about the potential of tourism employability and its scope in the field of community development. A unique relic of medieval commerce and religious faith into a lifeless ruin, (John and Michell2012) this study pinpoints the inefficiency of the tourism boards and poor functioning of other responsible authorities too. It VII also invokes the possibilities of promoting Agro-Tourism along with the existing Heritage tourism. There is enough scope for further study in the light of execution of CBT model as well as assessing the scope of Agro tourism in Hampi. This suggestion is propounded mainly because of the structural phase of the economy that is more than 70% of the working population is involved in agriculture and its allied sectors. There is a noticeable gap between the expectations of the local residents and what they are actually receiving from the authorities moreover, these entire gaps may hamper the idea of inclusive approach. If effective training and regular awareness creation program is initiated by the responsible authorities, it will create a better platform for inclusive approach. -
Assumptions of complete rationality and complete information in economics: A critique /
Economists conceived the discipline of economics to be a science of social relations. In fact they believed that social relations between individuals are moderated and regulated. The Physiocratic, Classical and Neo - classical school which firmly believed in human liberty considered this moderation to be a matter of self regulation1 and also that the laws controlling human association to be as clear as the laws of geometry. Contrary to this economists belonging to the utopian common wealth, and the Marxists school believed the same can be dealt out only through social control by the state.2 Irrespective of ones allegiance to any school of economic thought, human behaviour is central to the study of economics and to its place in knowledge structures as a social science. -
Attitude and perception of tourists in Karnataka towards Climate Change
Climate change has a strong relationship with the tourism industry. According to the United Nation's World Tourism Organization???s Davos Declaration (2007) tourism industry contributes on an average about 5% of the global Carbon di Oxide emission in terms of radioactive forcing. Studies pertaining to the state of Karnataka, India indicate that most parts of the state could experience 1.5oC to 2oC warming relative to the level during the pre-industrial period of the 1880s by as early as 2030s under the likely high emission scenario (Kelkar et al, 2004; Dwarakish et al, 2009'; Kumar et al, 2015). Travel decisions to a large extent are influenced by the destination???s images of Sun, Sand, Sea, availability of snow and perceptions of other such climatic variables such as temperature, precipitation and humidity (De Freitas, 2001). Therefore, studying tourist???s perceptions of these environmental changes are crucial for the survival of the tourism industry especially in these climate-sensitive regions (Gossling & Hall, 2006a). Besides, understanding the attitudes and perceptions of different segments of the tourists towards their role in climate change adaptation and mitigation is a fundamental step in designing educational and communication campaigns which could be successfully implemented in this industry (Becken, 2010; Gossling & Hall, 2006; Saarinen et al, 2006; Scott et al, 2008; Martin & Lopez, 2014). Therefore, this study aims to boost our understanding of the relationship between tourism and climate change issues among tourists in Karnataka, India. The study consists of five chapters, namely Introduction, Review of Literature, Report on present investigation, Results and Discussion, Summary and Conclusion. The first chapter Introduces the relationship between tourism and climate change issues and brings out the significance of the role of travel decisions the environment. The second chapter analyses earlier studies conducted on the area of climate change, environment and tourism to gain a better understanding of the existing knowledge and to identify research gaps. The third chapter focuses on the research design of this study. It covers sampling plans, questionnaire design, constructs measurement, plan of analysis and Pilot study. The fourth chapter deals with the analysis of data which were collected for the study followed by the discussion of results. The fifth chapter summarizes the entire study and explains the findings and limitations of the study, Suggestions and conclusion. -

Infomercials whether international or Indian / Hindi infomercials try to identify consumers behaviour and attitude towards the product . The study aims to analyse the perception of audience of television infomercials by applying qualitative and quantitative ( survey and in depth interview ) methodology. -
Brand Identities and Facebook: A Content Analysis of Photographs and Comments on Brand Pages on Facebook
Construction of a brand image using different forms of media has become one of the crucial factors of branding today. The social media is a promising tool to promote ideas to a wider audience, thus it becomes vital for advertising bodies to understand the petite nuances of the medium. This study looks at the role, the profile photos and the cover photos play in the process of identity construction of a brand on Facebook. The Facebook comments are designed in such a way that there are multiple access options to them. The study was conducted on leading brand pages to look for the ways in which the message was decoded in the form of comments. These comments were categorized into different positions of the encoding and decoding theory and were also analyzed for the appeals of rhetoric. The study showed the balance in the comments that are for and against the brand ideology. The study also shows the presence of too much noise in the comments which have no role to play in the brands identities.
