Network Lifetime Enhancement by Elimination of Spatially and Temporally Correlated RFID Surveillance Data in WSNs
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), radio frequency identification (RFID) plays an important role due to its data characteristics which are data simplicity, low cost, simple deployment, and less energy consumption. It consists of a series of tags and readers which collect a huge number of redundant data. It increases system overhead and decreases overall network lifetime. Existing solutions like Time-Distance Bloom Filter (TDBF) algorithm are inapplicable to the large-scale environment. Received Signal Strength (RSS) used in this algorithm is highly dependent on quality of tag and application environment. In this paper, we propose an approach for data redundancy minimization for RFID surveillance data which is a modified version of TDBF. The proposed algorithm is formulated by using the observed time and calculated distance of RFID tags. To overcome these problems, we design our approach to relevantly reduce the spatiotemporal data redundancy in the source level by adding the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) concept for energy-efficient RFID data communication in wireless sensor network scenario. We introduce in this paper the new improved idea of an existing algorithm which efficiently reduces the rate of data redundancy spatially and temporally. The implemented results overcome the limitations of existing algorithm for data redundancy reduction. Nevertheless, the performance evaluation shows the efficiency of proposed algorithm in terms of time and data accuracy. Network pharmacological evaluation for identifying novel drug-like molecules from ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) against multiple disease targets, a computational biotechnology approach
Ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) is a popular spice used globally in ethnic cuisines and witnessed its extensive use in traditional medicine. In this study, we identified 12 phytochemicals from the ginger rhizome extract (hexane) through GC/MS analysis. After evaluating drug-likeliness, these phytochemicals were docked with 16 target proteins in silico, and docking scores were compared with their respective control drugs. Furthermore, multivariate statistical analysis (principal component analysis-PCA) was performed, and three different chemical clusters were identified. Pharmacophore analysis further identified common functional descriptors in the compounds under study. Finally, we developed a unique three-level network taking phytochemicals, target proteins and associated diseases based on the optimum docking scores. Overall, Oleic acid, Palmitic acid and Shogaol showed the highest coverage to the target proteins (12, 10 and 9 targets, respectively) and Oleic Acid scored the highest (5956) in PatchDock when docked against Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PDB id 1KNU, UniProt id P37231). This work provided significant insight into developing the protocol for rapid identification of potential drug likeliness of the identified phytochemicals. Neurobiological aspects of violent and criminal behaviour: Deficits in frontal lobe function and neurotransmitters
Many neurobiological abnormalities have been reported in patients with violent and criminal behaviour. Strong associations exist between aggressive/violent behaviour and brain dysfunction. Also, many studies support an association between frontal lobe dysfunction and increased aggressive or antisocial behaviour. The focal orbitofrontal brain injury is specifically associated with increased aggression. Deficits in frontal lobe executive functions may increase the likelihood of future aggression, but as of now, studies have reliably demonstrated a characteristic pattern of frontal network dysfunction predictive of violent crime. The evidence is strongest for an association between focal prefrontal damage and an impulsive subtype of aggressive behaviour. This paper covers dysfunctions in these regions contributing to severe aggressive and violent behaviour, as well as neurotransmitters implicated in the same. 2018 International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences (IJCJS). -

Neuropalliative Care Needs Checklist for Motor Neuron Disease and Parkinson's Disease: A Biopsychosocial Approach
Objectives: Neurodegenerative disorders necessitate comprehensive palliative care due to their progressive and irreversible nature. Limited studies have explored the comprehensive assessment needs of this population. This present study is designed to develop a checklist for evaluating the palliative care needs of individuals with motor neuron disease (MND) and Parkinson's disease (PD). Materials and Methods: The checklist was created through an extensive literature review and discussions with stakeholders in neuropalliative. Feedback from six field experts led to the finalisation of the checklist, which comprised 53 items addressing the unique biopsychosocial needs of MND and PD. Sixty patient-caregiver dyads receiving treatment in a tertiary referral care centre for neurology in south India completed the checklist. Results: People with MND had more identified needs with speech, swallowing, and communication, while people with PD reported needs in managing tremors, reduced movements, and subjective feelings of stiffness. People denying the severity of the illness was found to be a major psychosocial issue. The checklist addresses the dearth of specific tools for assessing palliative care needs in neurodegenerative disorders, particularly MND and PD. By incorporating disease-specific and generic items, the checklist offers a broad assessment of patients' multidimensional needs. Conclusion: This study contributes to the area of neuropalliative care by developing the neuropalliative care needs checklist (NPCNC) as a valuable tool for assessing the needs of individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Future research should focus on refining and validating the NPCNC with larger and more diverse groups, applicability in different contexts, and investigating its sensitivity to changes over time. 2024 Published by Scientific Scholar on behalf of Indian Journal of Palliative Care. -
Neutron Polarization Observables in d(Formula Presented.)p at Low Energies of Interest to Astrophysics
A model-independent theoretical analysis of neutron polarization observables in (Formula Presented.) using circularly polarized photons at the range of energies of interest to Big Bang Nucleosynthesis is presented. An investigation of various spin dependent observables is carried out including the isoscalar multipole amplitudes M1s and E2s. It is suggested that the measurement of neutron polarization in the final state at near threshold energies will be very useful to assess the contribution of isoscalar amplitudes at range of energies of interest to BigBang Nucleosynthesis. 2022, The Author(s). -
New constituents triterpene ester and sugar derivatives from Panax ginseng Meyer and their evaluation of antioxidant activities
Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer (Araliaceae), is a well-known herb and used in the old established system of Oriental remedy, especially in Japan, China and Korea. Four new compounds characterized as (cis)- 7?,11?,19,21-tetra-O-decanoyl-18, 22?-dihydroxy-dammar-1-en-3-one (1), 3?,4?,12?-trihydroxystigmast-5-en-21-yl octadecan-9?,12?-dienoate (2), dammar-12, 24-dien-3?, 6?, 15?-triol-3?-D-arabinopyranosyl-6?-L-arabinopyranoside (3) and dammar-24-en-3?, 6?, 16?, 20?-tetraol-3?-D-arabinopyranosyl-6?-D-arabinopyranoside (4) were isolated and established from the ethyl acetate and butanol extracts of the roots of P. ginseng. Their structures were established on the basis of spectral data and chemical reactions. Natural compounds indicative a great reservoir of materials and compounds with evolved biological activity, including antioxidant. Compounds 14 were investigated in vitro for antioxidant potential using ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), the Nitric oxide (NO) scavenging activity, reducing power, phosphomolybdenum and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging actions, and the decision showed the compounds 3and 4 have probablyessential antioxidant properties than the compounds 1and 2 presented weak activity. 2016 The Authors -
New discrete trigonometric distributions: estimation with application to count data
In this research, we contribute to the development of original discrete distributions for count data analysis. We elaborate four new and different discrete trigonometric distributions with two parameters based on a discretization of the so-called sin-Weibull, cos-Weibull, tan-Weibull, and type II tan-Weibull distributions. We investigate the advantages of the proposed distributions and their trigonometric nature for capturing count data. In particular, some fundamental distributional properties of the discrete sin-Weibull distribution are derived. Subsequently, we turn it into a statistical model. Parameter estimation by the maximum likelihood and proportion of zeros and ones methods are then discussed. A simulation study is carried out to evaluate some frequentist properties of the developed methodology. As the study focuses mainly on the practical aspect, the applicability of the proposed models is evaluated using real-count datasets from various fields. 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. -
New dynamical behaviour of the coronavirus (2019-ncov) infection system with non-local operator from reservoirs to people
The mathematical accepts while analysing the evolution of real word problems magnetizes the attention of many scholars. In this connection, we analysed and find the solution for nonlinear system exemplifying the most dangerous and deadly virus called coronavirus. The six ordinary differential equations of fractional order nurtured the projected mathematical model and they are analysed using q-homotopy analysis transform method (q-HATM). Further, most considered fractional operator is applied to study and capture the more corresponding consequences of the system, known as Caputo operator. For different fractional order, the natures of the achieved results are illustrated in plots. New horizons in surface topography modulation of MXenes for electrochemical sensing toward potential biomarkers of chronic disorders /

MXenes are recently advanced two-dimensional layered nanomaterials that have various characteristic properties for developing electrochemical sensors for bioanalytical applications, such as hydrophilicity, good biocompatibility, electrical conductivity, heightened ion transportation, and ease of functionalization. MXenes are revealed to be having applications in various other fields including energy storage, and catalysis. The combination of a layered structure, biocompatibility, and high surface functionalities makes MXene a highly versatile material for electrochemical sensing applications. The effect of various synthesis and functionalization strategies on tuning the properties of MXenes toward improving sensing abilities has been comprehensively discussed. -
New Insights in the Bubble Wall of NGC 3324: Intertwined Substructures and a Bipolar Morphology Uncovered by JWST
We report the discovery of intertwined/entangled substructures toward the bubble wall of NGC 3324 below a physical scale of 4500 au, which is the sharp edge/ionization front/elongated structure traced at the interface between the H ii region and the molecular cloud. The sharp edge appears wavy in the Spitzer 3.6-8.0 ?m images (resolution ?2?). Star formation signatures have mostly been traced on one side of the ionization front, which lies on the molecular clouds boundary. The James Webb Space Telescopes (JWST) near- and mid-infrared images (resolution ?0.?070.?7) are employed to resolve the sharp edge, which has a curvature facing the exciting O-type stars. The elongated structures are associated with the 3.3 ?m polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission, the 4.05 ?m ionized emission, and the 4.693 ?m H2 emission. However, the PAH-emitting structures are depicted between the other two. The H2 emission reveals numerous intertwined substructures that are not prominently traced in the 3.3 ?m PAH emission. The separation between two substructures in the H2 emission is ?1.?1 or 2420 au. The intertwined substructures are traced in the spatial areas associated with the neutral to H2 transition zone, suggesting the origin of these structures by thin-shell instability. Furthermore, an arc-like feature traced in the Spitzer 3.6-8.0 ?m images is investigated as a bipolar H ii region (extent ?0.35 pc) at T d ?25-28 K using the JWST images. A massive-star candidate VPHAS-OB1 #03518 seems to be responsible for the bipolar H ii region. 2023. The Author(s). Published by the American Astronomical Society. -
New insights into surface functionalization and preparation methods of MWCNT based semiconductor photocatalysts
The manuscript primarily describes the influence of various synthesis strategies on the photocatalytic properties of MWCNT/TiO2 binary nanohybrids. The multiwalled carbon nanotube modified titania hybrids synthesized via two-step reaction involving the covalent functionalization with green and mild oxidizing agent like H2O2, followed by simple surfactant/template free hydrothermal synthesis exhibited the maximum photocatalytic efficiency. The Total Organic Carbon (TOC)analysis showed complete mineralization of the persistent Rhodamine B dye in about 8 h. These synthesized nanohybrids in varying MWCNT content were tested for their photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of explosive effluents like 4-nitrophenol and picric acid. The UVVis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UVVis DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), BrunauerEmmettTeller Surface area analysis (BET), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)and Raman spectra analysis evidently revealed the effective synergistic interaction between the MWCNT and titania at the interface that has contributed to the significant enhancement of photocatalytic performance. 2019 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. -
New results on orthogonal component graphs of vector spaces over Zp
A new concept known as the orthogonal component graph associated with a finite-dimensional vector space over a finite field has been recently added as another class of algebraic graphs. In these types of graphs, the vertices will be all the possible non-zero linear combinations of orthogonal basis vectors, and any two vertices will be adjacent if the corresponding vectors are orthogonal. New results on upper domatic number of graphs
For a graph G = (V, E), a partition ? = {V1, V2,..., Vk} of the vertex set V is an upper domatic partition if Vi dominates Vj or Vj dominates Vi or both for every Vi, Vj ? ?, whenever i 6= j. The upper domatic number D(G) is the maximum order of an upper domatic partition of G. We study the properties of upper domatic number and propose an upper bound in terms of clique number. Newly designed single-stage dual leg DC-DC/AC buck-boost converter for grid connected solar system
This paper proposes a novel single-stage buck-boost inverter based on dual leg. Modulation techniques, working principle, guidelines for components design, and guidelines are discussed and presented. A theoretical concept is initially tested in Simulink platform and practically verified with a test bench model. A practical model is developed to verify the simulation model and tested different modes of operation are analyzed. The main advantages of the proposed work are as follows: The number of passive components is less, switching frequency components are not high so leakage current is very less, and voltage control in a wide range is achieved without using a DC link capacitor. High efficiency can be achieved due to multi-stage operation. This proposed work is suitable for high/low voltage PV-based energy conversion. Next generation employability andcareer sustainability inthehospitality industry 5.0
Purpose: With an industry 5.0 revolution taking place in the hospitality industry, a shift from manual to cognitive labor is anticipated, characterized by greater sustainability, resilience and a human-centric approach. In this regard, hospitality educators' ability and willingness to teach novel topics such as automation at work, upskilling of employees, man-machine interaction and service robots have become more important than ever. This study aims to interpret the perspectives of hospitality educators about bridging the gap in the employability skills of (next-gen) hospitality graduates and the concerns relating to career sustainability in times of transition. Design/methodology/approach: A case study method was used given the novelty of the topic in a developing country like India. A qualitative survey with open-ended questions, is employed to understand the viewpoints of Indian hospitality educators, including those with more than 15years of teaching experience. In-depth interviews were conducted with 23 hospitality educators to reach the theoretical saturation point. MAXQDA software was used to analyze the qualitative data collected in the study. Findings: The findings reveal the challenges and motivations of hospitality educators in adapting to frequently changing business environments. In doing so, it sheds light on the methods employed to create a generation of hospitality graduates aligned with the changing dynamics of the industry. Originality/value: The paper presents the viewpoints of hospitality educators in India in relation to a futuristic approach to next-gen employability and career sustainability. Whilst numerous studies have focused on the role of robots and artificial intelligence in replacing the human component of the service environment, the concept of people working alongside advanced technologies is fairly new and needs to be fully explored. 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited. -
Next-Generation Connectivity in A Heterogenous Railway World
Global System for Mobile communication - Railway (GSM-R) is widely used for operational communications between train and signaler. However, there is a need to define a successor that addresses: obsolescence, radio spectrum demand and the enabling of a range of emerging digital applications such as radio-based signaling and Automatic Train Control (ATC). Therefore, the International Union of Railways (UIC) started the initiative to develop the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS). This article describes an Adaptable Communication System (ACS) that is being developed jointly by industry and railway operators as a possible successor covering all types of railways and all aspects of the FRMCS. A pragmatic approach is suggested that considers diverse railway settings and makes use of various radio access technologies. Countries, geographical regions and infrastructure managers differ concerning available radio technologies, but use of a suitable ACS could pave the way towards innovation in the railway sector. For this adaptive concept we discuss several network models and enhancements including satellite communications (SatCom), Software-Defined Networking (SDN) integration and antenna systems that support multiple bearers in one. For SatCom a software defined radio (SDR) prototype using random access is presented that is able to fulfill the requirements of ETCS. We found that SDN can be used for dynamically changing the access technology for critical and non-critical railway use cases. Furthermore, we present an antenna prototype that can be used for 5G, GSM, WLAN and LTE in parallel which saves limited mounting surface on the train. 1979-2012 IEEE. -
Nexus between Entrepreneurial Education, Entrepreneurial Mindset, and Entrepreneurial Passion on Entrepreneurial Intentions: Mediating Role of Self-efficacy
This study examines the complex dynamics of factors affecting self-efficacy (SE) and entrepreneurial intentions (EIs) among engineering students in India. It investigates the mediating role of SE in the relationships between entrepreneurial education (EE), entrepreneurial mindset (EM), entrepreneurial passion (EP), and EIs. The research reveals that SE remains stable across various personal characteristics, highlighting it as a robust individual trait less influenced by external factors. Gender significantly impacts EIs, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping entrepreneurial intentions, while other personal characteristics show limited influence. Passion and mindset appear to be consistent across demographics, suggesting they are intrinsic qualities. SE serves as a mediator in the connections between entrepreneurial mindset, passion, and intentions, elucidating its pivotal role in the entrepreneurial process. EE indirectly affects EIs and SE through other factors in the research model. Entrepreneurial passion directly influences both EIs and SE, emphasizing its role as a driving force for entrepreneurship. An entrepreneurial mindset doesn't directly affect intentions but significantly influences SE, indicating its importance in shaping self-efficacy, which in turn influences intentions. The findings can guide the development of educational programs and initiatives designed to promote entrepreneurship among engineering students in India while considering the impact of self-efficacy and gender-related factors. 2024, Iquz Galaxy Publisher. Nexus Between Interest Rate Risk and Economic Value of Equity of Banks
This analytical study looks to provide recommendations to the banking sector on different policies and regulations by examining certain aspects of the Basel III accord, which was designed to manage specific operational, capital and market risks of banks. A review of extant literature reveals that only a few papers have been written on simulation-based approaches, using basis and re-pricing risks. We look to connect this as a source while attempting to define and measure the impact of interest rate risk (IRR) on the economic value of equity (EVE) of banks. We propose to use the driverdriven method, wherein interest rate shocks are derived through prime lending rate (PLR) for the period of 20162019 in the context of India. Monte Carlo Simulation and OLS regression was performed to predict the IRR; Granger causality was used to examine the cause and effect relationship; the impulse response function (IRF) was used for sensitivity analysis; and the vector error correction model (VECM) technique was used for co-integrating relationships. Notably, the EVE movement caused due to shocks in interest rates had to be traced as it envisages probable EVE losses. Importantly, our study is among the first few to show the relationship between IRR and EVE of banks, especially after the deregulation of Indian banking sector. 2021 International Management Institute, New Delhi.
