Cubic spline curve public key cryptography
In this work, a cubic spline curve is considered for Asymmetric mode encrypting data. A Cubicspline curve is used to generate a set of points under initial known boundary conditions. This set of points is considered as generator points. Given the field, known the generator points, considering for some time and space steps and for a considered private key, Public key will be generated based on Discrete Logarithm problem. Thus for a set of public and private keys, data can be transmitted securely with features like Authenticity of users, Security & Confidentiality of data transmitted. Going by the construction of the algorithm, Encryption is being done on blocks of data for which it consumes less computing resources. Going by complexity of the algorithm, the key length needed is about 120 bit lengths to provide sufficient strengths against cryptoanalysis. 2017 Taru Publications. -
Rhetoric as an instrument for manipulation and distortion of truth an analysis of Orwell's 1984
Aristotle, in his Rhetoric, points out that all individuals indulge in rhetoric to demonstrate the truth or righteousness in what one wants to say. Problems arise only when rhetoric is used to appeal to emotions, rather than reason. In the current times, when rhetoric is used by leaders for propaganda, to whip up emotions in terms of nationalism and racism, George Orwell's remark that "political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable,"6 sounds relevant. The author examines Orwell's 1984 to demonstrate how rhetoric is a powerful tool in the hands of political leaders that can control the thoughts of individuals, to the extent of reducing them to non-entities. In an era where manufacture of consent is possible, the paper highlights how the quality of rhetoric has vitiated over time and the concern that the abuse of language prevalent in fascist regimes of Hitler and Stalin is slowly creeping into democracies too. A peaceful and harmonious existence is possible only when political leaders engage in responsible rhetoric and are willing to dialogue with dissenting voices. 2017 Journal of Dharma: Dharmaram Journal of Religions and Philosophies (DVK, Bangalore). -

Magnetohydrodynamic flow of williamson nanofluid due to an exponentially stretching surface in the presence of thermal radiation and chemical reaction
A steady MHD boundary layer flow of Williamson nanofluid over an exponential stretching surface through a porous medium is considered. The effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis have examined in the energy transport equation. The influences of solar radiation and chemical reaction are taken into the account. The governing boundary layer equations with the boundary conditions are transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equations with the help of selected exponential type of similarity variables. They are then solved numerically using well-known Shooting technique along with Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. The numerical results are presented through graphs and a table to discuss the characteristics of different flow fields versus pertinent parameters. Comparisons with previously published work have been conducted and the results are found to be in good agreement. It is found that temperature field is enhanced for the larger Brownian motion, thermophoresis parameter and radiation parameter effects. 2017 by American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved. -

Short-Term H ? Line Variations in Classical Be Stars: 59 Cyg and OT Gem
We present the optical spectroscopic study of two classical Be stars, 59 Cyg and OT Gem obtained over a period of few months in 2009. We detected a rare triple-peak H ? emission phase in 59 Cyg and a rapid decrease in the emission strength of H ? in OT Gem, which are used to understand their circumstellar disks. We find that 59 Cyg is likely to be rapid rotator, rotating at a fractional critical rotation of ?0.80. The radius of the H ? emission region for 59 Cyg is estimated to be Rd/R? ? 10.0, assuming a Keplerian disk, suggesting that it has a large disk. We classify stars which have shown triple-peaks into two groups and find that the triple-peak emission in 59 Cyg is similar to ? Tau. OT Gem is found to have a fractional critical rotation of ?0.30, suggesting that it is either a slow rotator or viewed in low inclination. In OT Gem, we observed a large reduction in the radius of the H ? emission region from ?6.9 to ?1.7 in a period of three months, along with the reduction in the emission strength. Our observations suggest that the disk is lost from outside to inside during this disk loss phase in OT Gem. 2017, Indian Academy of Sciences. -

JUDE: An Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope pipeline
The Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) was launched as part of the multi-wavelength Indian AstroSat mission on 28 September, 2015 into a low Earth orbit. A 6-month performance verification (PV) phase ended in March 2016, and the instrument is now in the general observing phase. UVIT operates in three channels: visible, near-ultraviolet (NUV) and far-ultraviolet (FUV), each with a choice of broad and narrow band filters, and has NUV and FUV gratings for low-resolution spectroscopy. We have written a software package (JUDE) to convert the Level 1 data from UVIT into scientifically useful photon lists and images. The routines are written in the GNU Data Language (GDL) and are compatible with the IDL software package. We use these programs in our own scientific work, and will continue to update the programs as we gain better understanding of the UVIT instrument and its performance. We have released JUDE under an Apache License. 2017 Elsevier B.V. -
Influencing the PageRank using link analysis in SEO
The World Wide Web, along with being a boon, can also be a bane since the information contained in it is growing at an alarming rate, and in order to find the right information the informative content, [6] the search engines have to be highly optimized. There has always been competition between various search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing. Although the three work on similar principles, they are very different when it comes to their ranking algorithm. We as users will always use the best search engine which provides the right content in least amount of time and also has a high performance rate and that is only possible if our search engine is optimized. There are certain factors which have great significance in optimizing the search engine. In this paper we are observing the performance of various factors such as incoming links, outgoing links and broken links and their influence on the ranking of a webpage. Impact of IFRS on the financial statements of select IT companies in India
Globalization of economies and shift in financial environment from the traditional bank based one to a market based one necessitated a uniform financial reporting language across countries to facilitate comparisons. This resulted in the establishment of International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) which issued International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), a global standard for company financial statements. More than 120 countries, including European Union, Australia, Canada have already adopted IFRS. India was expected to converge with IFRS from April 2016 for listed and unlisted companies with a net worth of more than rs 500 crores. However, few Indian companies listed internationally are voluntarily reporting IFRS. The present study aimed to understand the effect of this voluntary reporting of IFRS on key financial ratios of four selected IT sector companies. The study compared 12 major financial ratios under IFRS and Indian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (IGAAP) as reported in their financial statements for a period of 5years from 2009-10 to 2013-14. For the purpose of the study, financial ratios representing four key dimensions of companies namely liquidity, leverage, profitability, and efficiency were considered. To understand the statistical significance of the difference between the ratios, Wilcoxon signed rank test, a non parametric test was used. Of the 12 ratios analyzed, 10 were found to be statistically significant. Further, the study explained the financial statement items which cause the difference in the ratios of these companies. The results indicated current liability and shareholder's equity to be significant at the 10% level, thus explaining the difference in financial statement items under IFRS. -
Lung tuberculosis detection using x-ray images
This research work is based on the various experiments performed for the detection of lung tuberculosis using various methods like filtering, segmentation, feature extraction and classification. The results obtained from these experiments are discussed in this paper. Lung tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that causes more deaths in the world than any other infectious disease. Two billion people are infected with tuberculosis all around the world. Lung tuberculosis is a disease caused by a bacteria known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Tubercle bacillus. This research work strives to identify methods by which patients, who require second opinion for an already identified result, can save a lot of money. Once we receive X-ray image an input, pre-processing methods like Gaussian filter, median filter is applied. These filters help to remove unwanted noise and aid to get fine textural features. The output obtained from this is taken as an input and applied to water shed segmentation and gray level segmentation which helps to focus on the lung area of the obtained results. Output from these segmentation methods is fused to get a Region of Interest (ROI). From the ROI, the statistical features like area, major axis, minor axis, eccentricity, mean, kurtosis, skewness and entropy are extracted. Finally, we use KNN, Sequential minimal optimization (SMO), simple linear regression classification methods to detect lung tuberculosis. The results obtained in this paper suggests KNN classifier performs well than the other two classifiers. Research India Publications.
