Organizing data using lists: A sequential data structure
Computer programming aims to organize and process data to get the desired result. Software developer chooses a programming language for application development based on the data processing capabilities of the language. The list is one of the sequential data structures in Python. A list is limited to a particular data type, such as numbers or strings. Occasionally, a list may include data of mixed types, including numbers and strings. Elements in the list can be accessed by using the index. Usually, a list's elements are enclosed within square brackets and divided using commas. The list may be referred to as a dynamic-sized array, which denotes that its size increases as additional data is added and that its size is not predefined. List data structure allows repetition; hence, a single data item may appear several times in a list. The list assists us in solving several real-world problems. This chapter deals with the list's creation and manipulation, the complexity of processing the list, sorting, stack, and queue operations. 2023, IGI Global. All rights reserved. -
The inherent risk of climate change becoming a hindrance in a business supply chain
Purpose: A sophisticated network of interconnected supply chains serves as the central organising principle for most of the manufacturing serving the global economy. Right from computers and vehicles to life-saving pharmaceuticals and food is made possible by the supply web. The final goods part of a supply chain may include thousands of components from various global regions. These supply chains have been refined to achieve the highest speed and efficiency. Methodology: This study includes a sample of 127 firms that have been in business for at least 15 years and are familiar with business dynamics. The authors anticipate how climate risks, common in global supply networks, will evolve over the next several decades. This study examines the vulnerability of nine commercial value chains to climatic disasters. Also, it explores company and value chain vulnerabilities, financial losses, and adaptation or strategic methods to increase resilience. Findings: Companies must plan forward in terms of locations by retaining operational facilities while running new operations in less risky places. Without change, supply networks will become unstable and dangerous shortly. Using their climate objectives, businesses must decarbonise their supply chains. Businesses should connect with suppliers longer-term. The quality and dependability of a company's suppliers affect its success and safety. Future-focussed corporations are already engaging their suppliers on health, safety, and environmental issues. Significance: The typology may be helpful to executives as they make decisions about the strategic option(s) they wish to pick to address climate change. These decisions can also be influenced by the insights provided by the research about the present status of operations of other firms from different sectors all over the globe. 2023 by Chabi Gupta and Swati Bhatia. -
Fungal-based synthesis to generate nanoparticles for nanobioremediation
Nanotechnology has gained immense popularity with its innumerable biological agents, which are replacing toxic chemicals with an advanced technique for reducing and stabilizing nanoparticles (NPs). Fungal nanotechnology has represented exceptional technique in this area, owing to its nontoxicity, eco-friendly nature for fungal NPs, and nanostructure synthesis by reducing enzymes using either intracellular or extracellular techniques. Further, ease lies in the scale up-and downstream process owing to the increased surface area of the mycelial cells. Fungi and yeast are highly potential secretors of extracellular enzyme, grow fast, and are simple to maintain. Biogenic fungal NPs have been applied in the field of industry, agriculture, medicine, and other sectors too, and are used as bioremediators, drug delivery, biosensors, MRI, medical imaging, cancer therapy, etc. Mycoremediation can serve as a facilitator in bioremediating the toxins by immobilizing or inducing the synthesis of enzymes. Fungal NPs have shown an effective and efficient clean-up of the environment from the chemical pollutants and heavy metals, reducing total time consumption and total cost reduction. Fungal species of A. flavus and T. harzianum have shown promising crude oil degrading abilities with silver NPs at a very low concentration. Other fungal species used as resources for metal NPs that have been useful as bioremediators include Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium, and Verticillium. The Author(s), 2023. All rights reserved. -

An efficient design and comparison of machine learning model for diagnosis of cardiovascular disease
Cardiovascular disease has a significant global impact. Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of disability and mortality in most developed countries. Cardiovascular disease is a condition that disturbs the structures and functionality of the heart and can also be called heart disease. Cardiovascular diseases require more precise, accurate, and reliable detection and forecasting because even a small inaccuracy might lead to fatigue or mortality. There are very few death occurrences related to cardio sickness, and the amount is expanding rapidly. Predicting this disease at its early stage can be done by employing Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, which may help reduce the number of deaths. Data pre-processing can be employed here to eliminate randomness in data, replace missing data, fill in default values if appropriate, and categorize features for forecasting and making decisions at various levels. This research investigates various parameters that are related to the cause of heart disease. Several models discussed here will come under the supervised learning type of algorithms like Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and Nae Bayes (NB) algorithm. The existing dataset of heart disease patients from the Kaggle has been used for the analysis. The dataset includes 300 instances and 13 parameters and 1 label are used for prediction and testing the performance of various algorithms. Predicting the likelihood that a given patient will be affected by the cardiac disease is the goal of this research. The most important purpose of the study is to make better efficiency and precision for the detection of cardiovascular disease in which the target output ultimately matters whether or not a person has heart disease. 2023, Bentham Books imprint. Feature extraction and diagnosis of dementia using magnetic resonance imaging
Dementia is a state of mind in which the sufferer tends to forget important data like memories, language, etc.. This is caused due to the brain cells that are damaged. The damaged brain cells and the intensity of the damage can be detected by using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. In this process, two extraction techniques, Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and the Gray Level Run-Length matrix (GLRM), are used for the clear extraction of data from the image of the brain. Then the data obtained from the extraction techniques are further analyzed using four machine learning classifiers named Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Random Forest (RF), and the combination of two classifiers (SVM+KNN). The results are further analyzed using a confusion matrix to find accuracy, precision, TPR/FPR - True and False Positive Rate, and TNR/FNR - True and False Negative Rate. The maximum accuracy of 93.53% is obtained using the GLRM Feature Extraction (FE) technique with the combination of the SVM and KNN algorithm. 2023, Bentham Books imprint. All rights reserved. -

Enhancements of women's entrepreneurship: A theme-based study
Woman entrepreneurs are defined as a group of women who initiate, organize, and run a business concern, from a situation where a woman was not even allowed to get out of their home, to today, running most of the successful brands of the world, contributing a major part to the economic growth, and breaking the stereotypes by providing a reality check to the male dominance. There has been a wide range of public policies enrolled out to facilitate and encourage the growth of women's entrepreneurship. A few such policies from India have proved to be successful, which will be outlined in this book chapter. From the past times of not gaining adequate recognition for their support, women have emerged successful in overcoming hardships such as lack of visibility, lack of training and educative support about public policies provided by governments to women entrepreneurs, fewer opportunities, and walking out of the social stigma. 2023, IGI Global.
