3Rs management: Advances and innovations in waste management and treatment
The increasing industrialisation and fast growth do not only pose problems related to the allocation of resources and powers, but also severely challenge the natural environment. Environmental degradation such as contaminated water, sinking groundwater levels, unhealthy soils, and polluted air has become a harsh reality in many parts of the world. One result of a rapid urbanisation, a slowly reducing gap between urban and rural, changing consumption patterns, and a growing population is the problem of waste. However, although it is the duty of the urban local bodies (ULBs) to address the issue of waste, tight budgets, inefficient organisation, has rendered a situation that has little hope for alleviation in the near future. This chapter aims to understand the concept of waste management through 3Rs. The focus is to identify the contemporary 3Rs practices and also develop advanced strategies for the same. 2024 by IGI Global. -
Gen z student expectations towards employer attractiveness: An indian perspective
A study was undertaken to determine Generation Z management students' perceptions as to what factors would attract them to seek a career in an organization, and their expectations in this context. Over 330 students from both first- and second- year management programs participated in the self- administered printed questionnaire based on 25- item employer attractiveness scale and included additional items like choosing the top five items from the 25 list. A focus group discussion was also undertaken to determine what the perceived benefit to the students was for each of the 25 items would deliver to them. The study also compared the findings with published research and notes the common factors in terms of employer branding, employee engagement industry studies on work and links to other models like Herzberg's hygiene factors. The results were compared to similar studies conducted in Sri Lanka and Australia and substantive similarities were reported. 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved. -

Unraveling the complexity of thyroid cancer prediction: A comparative examination of imputation methods and ML algorithms
Despite being relatively rare, thyroid cancer is being identified more often as a result of improved awareness and detection. Even if it has a high survival rate, it is crucial to comprehend its forms, risk factors, and therapies. Better results and prompt intervention are made possible by the early detection of thyroid cellular alterations made possible by evolving machine learning (ML) techniques. The USA Cancer Data Access System's Thyroid Cancer Factor Data, gathered from patient questionnaires, are used in this study. Missing values and imbalance in the dataset are addressed using resampling techniques (SMOTE, under-sampling) and imputation techniques (Median, KNN). To increase the accuracy of thyroid cancer prediction and improve early identification and prognoses for improved patient care, a comparative analysis of machine learning algorithms (ML) (Logistic Regression, LDA, KNN, Decision Tree, SVM, Naive Bayes) with imputation and resampling techniques is being conducted. 2024, IGI Global. Do flexible working hours influence employee skill enhancement and productivity? Evidence from polyvalent workers
This chapter investigates the influence of flexible working schedules affect the productivity and skill development of polyvalent workers. A thorough literature analysis guided the creation of a questionnaire that was given to 153 polyvalent workers as a sample. The gathered data was subjected to statistical analysis in order to determine how flexible work schedules affected worker productivity and skill development. The results show a strong correlation between flexible work schedules and increased productivity and skill development among employees. Furthermore, it was discovered that these results were significantly impacted by flexible working hours. Flexible schedules can help multitasking employees, who are skilled in a range of jobs, improve their productivity and further develop their skills. Companies that use polyvalent labour are encouraged to think about adopting flexible work schedules as a way to improve worker productivity and abilities. 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved. -

Role of women in food and agricultural development: Breaking barriers for sustainable growth
The role of women in food and agricultural development in India is vital as it has an essential impact on the country's agricultural development. Despite all the contributions, they often face major obstacles, such as limited access to resources such as land, credit, innovation, and technology, and addressing these barriers is important. In this chapter, the authors have examined areas and levels of farm women's participation, such as the crops they grow, post- harvest activities, the workload they carry, and, despite all the struggles, how the women are underestimated. Their contribution is not limited to crop cultivation but also includes dairy, poultry, fishing, aquaculture, and forestry such as the wood processing sector. Due to men moving towards urban areas for better jobs and quality of life, women in rural areas are pressured to work in the fields; due to this, agriculture is feminized, and women shoulder a heavier workload than men. The underrepresentation of women is also seen in the employment rate and the pay they receive during seasonal, non- seasonal, and part- time employment. 2024, IGI Global. All rights reserved.
