Influence of Two-Frequency Rotational Modulation on the Dynamics of the Rayleigh-Bard Convection in Water-Based Nanoliquids with Either AA7072 or AA7075 Nanoparticles
The effect of time-periodic two-frequency rotation modulation on Rayleigh-Bard convection in water with either AA7072 or AA7075 nanoparticles is investigated. The single-phase description of the Khanafer-Vafai-Lightstone model is used for modeling the nanoliquids. An asymptotic expansion procedure is adopted in the case of the linear stability to obtain the correction (due to modulation) to the Rayleigh number at marginal stability of unmodulated convection. A nonlinear regime of convection is considered with a nonautonomous generalized Lorenz model as the governing equation. The method of multiscales is then employed to obtain the coupled nonautonomous Ginzburg-Landau equations with cubic nonlinearity from the Lorenz model. These equations are presented in the phase-amplitude form and the amplitude is used to quantify the heat transport. The modulation amplitude is considered to be small (of order less than unity) and moderate frequencies of modulation are considered. We found that there is a threshold frequency beyond which the system behavior reverses. At frequencies below the threshold, the mean Nusselt number increases with an increase in the amplitude of modulation while an opposite influence is seen for values above the threshold. Such a behavior is a consequence of what is analogously seen in the case of the critical Rayleigh number. The influence of two-frequency modulation is more pronounced on the results of the linear and nonlinear regimes compared to that of the single-frequency one. The heat transport is enhanced due to the presence of dilute concentration of suspended nanoparticles (either AA7072 or AA7075 nanoalloys) in water. The influence of nanoparticles is to modify the threshold values generating chaos but it does not qualitatively alter the dynamical behavior of the system. The plots of Lyapunov exponents reveal that there is no possibility of hyper-chaos in the generalized Lorenz model when there is a rotational modulation. 2024 World Scientific Publishing Company. -

Influence of Te doping on the dielectric and optical properties of InBi crystals grown by directional freezing
Stoichiometric pure and tellurium (Te) doped indium bismuthide (InBi) were grown using the directional freezing technique in a fabricated furnace. The X-ray diffraction profiles identified the crystallinity and phase composition. The surface topographical features were observed by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The energy dispersive analysis by X-rays was performed to identify the atomic proportion of elements. Studies on the temperature dependence of dielectric constant (?), loss tangent (tan?), and AC conductivity (?ac) reveal the existence of a ferroelectric phase transition in the doped material at 403 K. When InBi is doped with tellurium (4.04 at%), a band gap of 0.20 eV can be achieved, and this is confirmed using Fourier transform infrared studies. The results thus show the conversion of semimetallic InBi to a semiconductor with the optical properties suitable for use in infrared detectors. 2014 University of Science and Technology Beijing and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg. -
Influence of Synthesis Temperature on the Structural, Morphological and Optical Properties of MoO3 Nanorods
Molybdenum trioxide nanomaterials have attained notable attention in the recent past and are used in various optoelectronic and biomedical applications. Here blue and purple blue light emitting MoO3 nanophosphors were synthesized using the simple hydrothermal method at three different temperatures 100C, 150C, and 200C. Structural characterization using XRD along with Raman spectroscopy confirms the formation of a highly stable orthorhombic phase. Micro strain effects have been analyzed by employing the Williamson-Hall method using a uniform deformation model. Nanorod like morphology was obtained from FESEM. Optical analysis, using Tauc plot shows a decreasing trend in bandgap value with increasing temperature. Emission peaks in the photoluminescence spectrum are associated with the transition between the sub-bands of the Mo5+ defect state. From CIE coordinates it is confirmed that the characteristic light from the samples is blue and purple-blue. Being an excellent blue and purple blue light emitting phosphor, MoO3 is a suitable material for future LED and fluorescence imaging applications. Influence of symmetric/asymmetric boundaries on axisymmetric convection in a cylindrical enclosure in the presence of a weak vertical throughflow
The linear and nonlinear stability of axisymmetric convection of a viscous fluid in a cylindrical enclosure heated from below is investigated for various radius to height ratios. A weak vertical throughflow is imposed in a gravity-aligned or a gravity-opposing manner. Symmetric and asymmetric boundaries of free-free, rigid-rigid and rigid-free types are considered for lower and upper boundaries with isothermal temperature boundary condition. The side-walls are assumed to be rigid and adiabatic. A convergent Maclaurin series representation is considered for the finding of axial trial eigenfunctions. In order to corroborate the results of the present study with those of a previous investigation, the critical Rayleigh number and the number of radial rolls manifesting for any given aspect ratio are determined in the case of no throughflow and an exact match is found. Further, the influence of boundaries and the effect of throughflow on chaotic and periodic regimes of motion are studied with the help of a time series solution and the largest Lyapunov exponent as indicators of chaos. The novelty of the present study is the use of a Maclaurin series representation for the eigenfunctions of the linear problem and using the same in determining the solution with the convective mode. 2023 Elsevier B.V. -
Influence of Solvent Environment on the Photophysical Properties of Maleamic Acid and Maleimide Derivatives
Absorption and fluorescence spectra of novel maleamic acid (E)-4-oxo-4-(4-((2-oxooxazolidin-4-yl)methyl)phenylamino)but-2-enoic acid (OMPBA) and its maleimide derivative 1-(4-((2-oxooxazolidin-4-yl)methyl)phenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione (OMPPD) were recorded in a series of eighteen solvents of increasing polarity at room temperature (25C). A large Stokes shift indicates a bathochromic fluorescence band shift for both molecules. The photoluminescence properties and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) behavior of OMPBA and OMPPD were analyzed. In the case of OMPPD, ICT contributes to a larger extent towards positive solvatochromism compared to OMPBA. Ground-state and singlet excited-state dipole moments of OMPBA and OMPPD were calculated using solvatochromic methods proposed by Bilot and Kawski, Lippert and Mataga, Bakhshiev, Kawskii and Chamma and Viallet, and also Reichardt. The ground state dipole moment was found to be larger than for the singlet excited state for both molecules. Optimized geometry and HOMOLUMO energies of OMPBA and OMPPD have been determined by DFT and TDDFT/B3LYP/6-311G (d, p). The HOMOLUMO energy gap was calculated from cyclic voltammetry and compared with theoretical values with good agreement. GCRD parameters such as ionization potential (IP), electron affinity (EA), electronegativity ?, chemical potential (?), chemical hardness (?), chemical softness (s) and electrophilicity (?) were calculated for OMPBA and OMPPD. 2018, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. -

Influence of Short Glass Fibre Reinforcement on Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed ABS-Based Polymer Composites
One of the most promising and widely used additive manufacturing technologies, fused deposition modelling (FDM), is based on material extrusion and is most commonly used for producing thermoplastic parts for functional applications with the objectives of low cost, minimal waste and ease of material conversion. Considering that pure thermoplastic materials have a significantly poor mechanical performance, it is necessary to enhance the mechanical properties of thermoplastic parts generated using FDM technology. One of the conceivable techniques is to incorporate reinforcing materials such as short glass fibre (SGF) into the thermoplastic matrix in order to produce a polymer composite that can be used in engineering applications, such as structural applications. The morphological and mechanical properties of SGF (short glass fibre) reinforced ABS- (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) based polymer composites created via the method of FDM (fused deposition modelling) were investigated in this work. Properties were evaluated at three different weight percentages (0, 15 and 30 wt%). The composite filaments were developed using the process of twin screw extrusion. The comparison was made between ABS + SGF (short glass fibre) composites and pure ABS of mechanical properties that include surface roughness, tensile strength and low-velocity impact. The tests were carried out to analyze the properties as per ASTM standards. It has been found that the impact strength and tensile strength show an improvement in glass fibre inclusion; moreover, alongside the direction of build, the surface roughness had been reduced. The studies also focused on studying the dispersion characters of SGF in ABS matrix and its impact on the properties. Strength and modulus of SGF reinforced ABS composite has been significantly improved along with reduction of ductility. A 57% increase in tensile strength has been noted for 30 wt% addition of SGF to ABS in comparison to pure ABS. It was also interesting to note the reduction in surface roughness with every incremental addition of SGF to ABS. A 40% reduction in surface roughness has been observed with a 30 wt% addition of SGF to ABS in comparison to pure ABS. 2022 by the authors.Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. -
Influence of SERPINA1 Gene Polymorphisms on Anemia and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Background. Anemia is one of the predominant hematological conditions, whereas chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a predominant respiratory disease. These two diseases were found to be interlinked, but the physiological pathways are still unclear. Aim. The current study has been aimed at analysing the genetic interrelationship between anemia and COPD in accordance with different altitudes. Methodology. The genetic analysis was performed in the SERPINA1 gene of anemia, COPD, and healthy individuals for the analysis of single nucleotide polymorphism at rs28949274 and rs17580 locations. Result and Discussion. The single nucleotide polymorphism at the locations rs28949274 and rs17580 was present in both anemic and COPD patients. The COPD patients were more prone to mutations (63% had rs28949274, and 11% had rs17580 polymorphisms) than the anemic patients (40% had rs28949274, and 1% had rs17580 polymorphisms). On the basis of altitude, high-altitude individuals were found to be more susceptible to both the polymorphisms. Conclusion. Based on the current findings, we suggest that the SERPINA1 gene has a positive correlation with anemia as well as COPD, and the increase in altitude also influences the diseased conditions in a positive manner. 2022, SAGE Publications Ltd. Influence of Self-Compassion, Self-Reflection, and Insight on Interpersonal Competence in Emerging Adults
Social relationships have been declining over the years, especially after the pandemic. Therefore, it becomes important to understand what influences ones social relationships. The present study investigated the influence of self-compassion, self-reflection, and insight on interpersonal competence among emerging adults. It also aimed to understand if having a psychology background in education and experience of therapy is associated with the participants levels of self-compassion, self-reflection, and insight. Using convenience sampling, a sample of N = 335 undergraduate and postgraduate students was selected to answer the Self-Compassion Scale Short Form, Self-Reflection and Insight Scale, and Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire that were circulated electronically along with a consent form. Statistical analysis using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression indicated that self-compassion, self-reflection, and insight each have positive relationships with interpersonal competence with self-compassion and self-reflection together significantly predicting 13.5% variance in interpersonal competence. Analysis using independent samples t-test indicated that there are significant differences in self-reflection and insight scores between those who have experience in psychology education and therapy and those who lack them. These findings strengthen the understanding that aspects of oneself are related to their social relationships and strengths and problems in one domain could be linked to the same in others. Future research can focus on developing interventions aimed at improving interpersonal competence through self-compassion and self-reflection. Further, influence of other aspects of self on interpersonal competence can also be explored to strengthen the proposed theory of relationship between self and others. Influence of radiative transfer on Rayleigh-Benard-Marangoni canvection in a couple-stress fluid saturated porous medium
The problem of Rayleigh-Benard-Marangoni convection in a couple-stress fluid saturated porous medium with thermal radiation is studied within the framework of linear stability analysis. Only infinitesimal disturbances are considered. The linear stability analysis is based on the normal mode technique. The Darcy law is used to model the momentum equation. The fluid between the boundaries absorbs and emits thermal radiation. The boundaries are treated as black bodies. The absorption coefficient of the fluid is assumed to be the same at all wavelengths and to be independent of the physical state. The principle of exchange of stabilities is valid and the existence of oscillatory instability is ruled out. The expression for the stationary Darcy-Rayleigh number is obtained as a function of the governing parameters, viz., the wave number, the couple-stress parameter, the conduction-radiation parameter, the absorptivity parameter, the Marangoni number and the Biot number. The Galerkin method is used to determine the eigenvalues. The effect of various parameters on the stability of the fluid layer is discussed through figures and tables.
