Improving maternal health by predicting various pregnancy-related abnormalities using machine learning algorithms
Over the past few decades, artificial intelligence has been showing its high relevance and potential in a vast number of applications, particularly in the healthcare domain. Having a healthy pregnancy is one of the best ways to promote a healthy birth. Getting early and regular prenatal care improves the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Complications involved in the individual's pregnancy need to be predicted on time accurately. AI can help clinicians to make decisions by assisting them in decision-making. In this regard, the objective of this chapter is to provide a detailed survey of various pregnancy-related abnormalities; and to explore various machine learning algorithms to classify/predict pregnancy-related abnormalities with higher accuracy. Improving organizational environmental performance through green training
It is necessary to equip employees with green abilities as well as to develop their dedication towards green behaviour in order to improve an organization's environmental performance. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the direct impact of green training on organizational environmental performance (OEP) and the mediating effect of organizational citizenship behaviour on the environment (OCBE). The study is based on responses from 107 employees of the IT sector in India. The findings suggest that green training has a significant positive impact on the organizational environmental performance and that the impact is strengthened by organizational citizenship behaviour towards the environment. In vitro production of bacosides from Bacopa monnieri
Bacopa monnieri (L.) Wettst. (Plantaginaceae) is an important Ayurvedic medicinal herb commonly known as brahmi, growing in the region of Indian subcontinent. Bacosides are the major chemical component having the major role in the biological and pharmacological field. Bacopa cultivation is time-consuming, requires labor team, and needs great efforts to maintain the quality of bacosides as growths are affected by environmental factors such as soil, water, temperature, climate, pests, and pathogens. To solve these problems, organ and cell cultures have been adopted for swift and efficient production of Bacopa biomass and bacosides. In the current chapter, various parameters, such as types of media, media composition, elicitors, salinity, drought, types of vessels used, and effect of heavy metals, were investigated against the in vitro production of bacosides from Bacopa monnieri. In Vitro Production of Bioactive Compounds from Plant Cell Culture
Secondary metabolites (SMs) are bioactive compounds widely used in various industries as pharmaceutical agents and food additives and serve as precursor substances for the synthesis of commercially important products. These natural bioactive metabolites are quickly replacing chemicals as efficient coloring, flavoring, texturizing, and preservative agents. Productions of these SMs are hampered due to physiological and technological parameters. Although SMs do not have any significant role in the growth and development of the organisms where they are found, they have commercial importance. Humankind has harnessed its application in every walk of their life. In the medical field, SMs are used as antibiotics, antifungal, antiviral, metabolic inhibitors, anticancer agents, and many more. The biological and pharmacological benefits of medicinal plants are attributed to SM produced by subsidiary pathways that are highly specific to target molecules. Most pharmaceuticals are either directly or indirectly derived from plant sources. Production of SMs from field plants suffers from various limitations like seasonal production, choosing specific plant organs for specific metabolites, low yield, cost of purification, and seasonal variations. Biotechnological approaches such as plant cell, tissue, and organ cultures are the best alternative methods for commercial production. The current chapter focuses on establishment of plant cell culture system for the production of SMs, strategies to improve biomass yield and metabolite content, and biosynthetic pathways. In Vitro Production of Saponins
Plants have been utilized as food, feed, and fodder since the dawn of civilization. Plants are also thought to be a rich source of bioactive compounds with a variety of pharmacological actions. Saponins are one such group of molecules which are present in various plant species. As triterpenoid glycosides, they have a 30C oxidosqualene precursor aglycone moiety (sapogenin), which is then linked with glycosyl residues to form saponin. These saponins have a unique platform in the field of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. Saponins are used for the treatment of various diseases which include cancer, diabetic, cardiac, hepatic, and nervous disorders. The production of saponins through conventional approaches is time-consuming and hard to extract pure compounds, and thus to achieve this, in vitro methods have been developed and enhanced the production and extraction of the metabolites. The present chapter focuses on the in vitro production of saponins through various tissue culture techniques such as shoot, callus, cell suspension, adventitious root, hairy root culture, and applications of bioreactors at commercial level. The chapter also focuses on biosynthetic pathway, extraction methods, and biological activities of saponins. In Vitro Production of Tocopherols
Tocopherols are an essential dietary nutrient for mammals and photosynthetic products produced by green plants. Tocopherols commonly referred to as vitamin E exist in four forms (?-, ?-, ?-, and ?-tocopherol). Synthetic ?-tocopherol is a mixture of eight racemic forms and is less effective than natural tocopherol, thus the demand for plant-derived tocopherols is high. Tocopherols are lipophilic antioxidant and extensively used as therapeutic agents such as anti-inflammatory, anti-infection, anticancer, immune-stimulant, and nephro-protectant. They are also used as food additives and nutraceuticals. Plant cell and tissue culture is one of the promising techniques for mass production of tocopherols to meet the commercial demand. Optimizing physical and chemical factors for in vitro culture system has resulted in better accumulation of the product. Moreover, using bioreactors, precursor feeding, elicitation, biotransformation, and metabolic engineering approaches have resulted in enhanced yield of tocopherols from in vitro cultures. The present chapter deals with various important aspects of tocopherol in vitro production such as biosynthesis of tocopherol with special emphasis on key enzymes involved in the pathway whose modulation in expression can increase the yield of the product. Topics discussed include production of tocopherol from callus, cell and organ culture, metabolic engineering for mass production, different methods employed for extraction and quantification of tocopherols, and their biological activities and commercial applications. In vitro propagation and secondary metabolite production from Withania Somnifera (L.) dunal
Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal, commonly known as ashwagandha or Indian ginseng, is an important medicinal plant that belongs to the family Solanaceae. Ashwagandha has been used from time immemorial in different systems of medicine and extensively used in the Indian system of medicine, and there is discussion of this plant in different ayurvedic scripts like Charaka samhita, Ashtanga sangraha, etc. The plant is extensively used for anti-aging and general well-being, and also has anti-cancer potential. Ashwagandha is also known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other therapeutic activities. In the recent days of Covid-19, the plant has been extensively used as an immunostimulant. The plant has great potential for its raw materials, especially for the extraction of bioactive molecules like withanolide-A, withaferin-A, withasomniferin, withanone, etc. The conventional mode of propagation could not meet the required commercial demand for either the pharmaceutical industries or the traditional practitioners. The conventional method of obtaining biomass is influenced by a large number of environmental factors, where biomass quality and quantity of bioactive molecules have shown variation. To overcome this, biotechnological approaches such as plant tissue culture techniques have been established for large-scale cultivation using micropropagation and also other techniques like a callus and cell suspension culture, shoot culture, adventitious root culture, and hairy root culture have been extensively used for in vitro production of bioactive molecules from ashwagandha. With the advent of metabolic engineering, biosynthetic pathway editing has made it possible to obtain higher yields of desired metabolites. The present chapter focuses on the in vitro propagation, biosynthesis of withanolides, and tissue culture strategies for obtaining high biomass and metabolites. The chapter also focuses on different elicitation strategies, metabolic engineering approaches, and the development of elite germplasms for improved metabolite content. The present study attempts to analyze the attributes of achieving true inclusivity and equity. This requires addressing systemic barriers and biases that can perpetuate unequal opportunities and outcomes towards building a pro-active tourism community. The chapter identifies the inequities already in place as well as untapped prospects for inclusive innovation in the tourism industry by performing an extensive gap analysis and impact assessment. Incorporating the metaverse into the green banking revolution: Spearheading the implementation of eco-friendly financial practices
This study aims to explore the awareness and perceptions of green banking among bankers and customers in rural and semi-urban areas of India. A structured questionnaire was employed to gather information from 807 customers and 200 officials of selected commercial banks, utilizing the snowball sampling method. The study utilized chi-square and factor analysis techniques. The chi-square test results revealed an association between educational status and the customer's opinion regarding green banks. Factor analysis derived three key factors influencing the adoption of green banking: convenience and environmental sustainability, financial and technological advantages, and customer retention and prestige. The findings indicate that green banking services provide more benefits to its customers than traditional banking. 2024, IGI Global. -

Ind as convergence and its impact on value relevance of accounting variables
This study investigates the correlation between accounting variables and stock prices in India from 2011 to 2022, emphasizing the impact of the Convergence of Ind AS with IFRS. Specifically, it explores how this convergence influences the value relevance of accounting data using the Ohlson Model. Beyond established vari-ables like Earnings per Share (EPS) and Book Value (BPS), the analysis introduces additional factors such as Dividend per Share (DPS) and Research and Development (R&D). Employing Ohlsons Pricing Model (1995), the research assesses the rela-tionship between these accounting variables and stock prices for 47 consistently listed firms in the NIFTY 500 index. Results show that DPS and R&D enhance the value relevance of the Ohlson Model, with the adjusted upper R squaredupper R squared increasing from 0.2 in 2011 to 0.6 in 2022. While overall value relevance improves after Ind AS convergence, BPS remains consistent when controlling for EPS. The Author(s). -
India-Maldives Development Partnership: Promises and Possibilities
Indias approach towards Development Partnership with the external world has been inclusive, humanistic, unconditional, comprehensive and futuristic. India-Maldives Development Partnership has to be seen in the context of India-Maldives relations that have been described as close, cordial and multi-dimensional. The Maldives undoubtedly occupies a very special place in Indias Neighborhood First policy. Indias development partnership with the Maldives goes with the `SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision of the Government of India. The partnership is characterised by transparency and as per the needs and priorities of the Maldivians. It touches every facet of the development of the Maldives to enhance stability and prosperity of the atoll state. Involving about US$ 3 billion in terms of grants, loans, budgetary support, capacity building and training assistance, the development partnership support is intended to reach the beneficiaries directly via the local councils. However, there are various challenges in the process of implementation of the projects under the development partnership. Yet, the future of the partnership looks promising. The main objective of the paper is to answer the following questions: What is the context of development partnership between India and Maldives? In what manner India has extended development assistance to its neighbour? Are there any challenges in the process of rendering such assistance? Indian psychology: Challenges, strategies, and prospects in education
Knowledge dissemination has been a hallmark of Indian tradition for millennia, particularly in the area of human biology and behavior. Westernization and globalization, however, have caused a gradual erosion of this rich heritage, resulting in waning interest among the populace. As a discipline, Indian Psychology faces a number of formidable challenges. The number of preconceived biases within society, the Westernized educational system, and the shortage of faculty with expertise in Indian psychology hinder the recognition and dissemination of the field. A dearth of research studies directly related to Indian psychology is also hindering its development and recognition. Emphasis was given on the importance of thorough research to substantiate its contributions to the understanding of human cognition, behavior, and consciousness. Promoting Indian psychology as an important and respected field requires dispelling misconceptions and fostering awareness. Indian women and empowerment: A Kleinian approach
The idea of women empowerment is often understood through the varied social contexts of individuals. There have been many attempts in understanding this notion among Western Educated Industrialized Rich and Democratic (WEIRD) women. A similar exploratory trajectory is seldom found in non-WEIRD samples of women especially those from South East Asian collectivistic cultures. The present study attempts to explore the concept of empowerment among middle-aged women from collectivistic cultures, who are often subjected to benevolent sexism from a social constructivist position. The paper would emphasize notions about the empowerment of ordinary women, particularly with regard to their occupational status. The discussion would be positioned in the cultural context of the Indian subcontinent where gender roles, norms and expectations define the concept of empowerment among women. A psychodynamic Kleinian approach involving object relations is adopted to elaborate on the occupational position of the participants where their interpersonal dynamics are explored. Indigenous Beliefs and Practices for Sustainability Among the Mao Nagas
The present society of Mao Nagas is sandwiched between trends to modernity and tendencies to be rooted in the cultural past. Prior to the arrival of Christianity, the Maos were considered animists; the sway of the one Supreme Being, and human relations with nature permeated the social, cultural, and spiritual realm. When the sky represented the father, and the earth, the mother; exploitation becomes inconsequential. Despite the odds of having limited ancestral land, the Maos have proven themselves self-sustainable within the place of habitation. The fact that there are no beggars among the Maos proves that certain aspects of the SDGs are ingrained in the beliefs. The Feast of Merit prevented extreme riches in society. With education, the Mao Nagas learned the harmful effects of shifting cultivation and abandoned its entirety. This paper tries to conceptually prove that if ancient beliefs and practices are tempered with scientific knowledge, life is sustainable. Indigenous tribes and inclusive engagement: An integrated approach for sustainable livelihood into the future
Tourism acts as a stimulant in rural poverty reduction and inclusive socioeco-nomic development. Sustainable tourism can significantly contribute to the economic diversification and local economic development of rural areas with its ability to create jobs and encourage infrastructural development focusing on preserving the environment, culture and indigenous groups. Individual and Community Interests: A Critical Analysis with the Help of Gandhian Philosophy
The chapter tends to contribute more towards the debate on individual and community interests. It broadly explains both the concepts by analysing their interdependence and importance and gives readers a competitive critical analysis of the stance taken by different western philosophers and Gandhi on it. The chapter comes out in five major heads and commences by explaining the intricacies of the debate between the two in its first segment. The second part of the chapter puts forward the western framework of ideas and brings into picture various philosophers of the west and their ideologies on the subject. The third section sketches out an analysis of individual and community interests from Gandhian lens and throws light on various ideas promulgated by him such as satyagrah, Swaraj (self-governance), Sarvodaya (rise of all), Ekadash Vrat (eleven principles). The fourth head talks about the role of these ideas in addressing the conflict between the two interests that exist in society. It concludes by drawing out how Gandhian ideology acts as a guiding light to bridge the gap between the two contrasting ideas of individual and community interests. Nowadays, almost everyone is largely relying on social media to send memes and emojis in order to share the information in a humorous way. Lots of research article are reviewed about the social media memes, internet memes and this paper summarizes the usage of social media and following the trending pattern in communicating or sharing information through the social media platform. This study is aimed to study about the individuals attitude towards memes and its effect among the social media users. Through survey, total of 193 samples were collected by using questionnaire and statistical tools like Reliability test, Chi square and Correlation analysis have been used to interpret the collected data.
